The next day I was able to drive. I was careful not to use my pain meds. I did take my pain meds at bedtime however.

feeling depressed and need a lap band buddy.

That's why this forum is so great. I'm banded 8 months now and I still have hurdles to jump but my life has improved markedly that the lapband is the best decision I ever made. -

I know you're going to do great. Timing is everything. It took a lot of years for me to get this surgery. My prior insurance company wanted $3800 cash upfront. I did not have it. Then I was contemplating going to Mexico for surgery because it wasn't much more than what my insurance wanted upfront. Then there were co-pays, etc. I decided to change insurance companies because my co-pays kept going up with the old insurance. My new insurance had no co-pays for routine office visits AND they paid for medically necessary Lapband surgery. So, I delayed my Mexican surgery and found out that as long as I went to a surgeon in their network, I was covered! I'm happy I waited and who knows what would have happened if I went to Mexico? I am happy that I know I have a 10cc band instead of the 4cc band I may have been given if I had my surgery done in Mexico. I have nothing against having surgery in Mexico but when I wanted it way back when I would have been giving a 4cc band. So you see, timing is everything!

Favorite post-op foods
dawalsh replied to hollym789's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to full liquids and loved my creamed Soups, especially clam chowder. I still like soup as a meal now and then. Yesterday I had a Vietnamese soup made with chicken and ginger broth with white meat chicken, rice noodles, bamboo shoots and bean sprouts. It's a good healthy option when you're allowed solid foods. -
I still love chocolate, however, I can be satisfied with just a taste whereas I could eat a lot of chocolate. I'll never lose my taste for chocolate but portion wise it's gotten a whole lot better.

That's an awesome experience! Keep up the good work! -
Seriously, I thought they stopped doing the 4cc bands in Mexico. No wonder you're not hungry but I feel you're in a precarious state keeping with a 4cc band. I hope you have no complications but I would try to find a US doctor for follow up seriously! I'm not trying to chew you out but what if your band needs adjusting? Do you have to go back to Zmexico? Or, can you follow up with a US doctor in case of any complications! I'm just concerned about your "healthy" welfare. Bes of luck to you!

Best wishes on your new band! -
Yes, my doctor says when I'm hungrier than usual to eat all the cucumbers and lettuce I want just to chew it well. It's more or less a "free" food in the aspect the calories are negligible. The dressing is what is not a free food.

Thanks! I buy that Ice at Sam's all the time! I love slushy stuff too.

I love, love, love my fitness pal! It truly is an eye opener! Last July I helped my granddaughter bake choc chip cookies. I didn't eat them but helping her scrape the bowl I ate about 1 teaspoon of the cookie dough. Well, that was 135 calories I could have put to better use lol.i should have looked it up on my fitness pal before I ate it. It is a great awareness tool!

How many of you corrected prediabetes and lowered your blood pressure with the lap band?
dawalsh replied to Lori123's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Me! I'm off Byetta. I was on it for 4 years and right after my pre-op diet my BP and sugar were lower. So about 1 month post op my doctor took me off my Byetta injections and lowered my BP meds from 100 mg dose per day to 50 mg a day. There is talk of getting off BP meds all together. I have an issue with my PCP however. He is not happy with my weight loss. He feels I should have lost a lot more weight. I'm down 58 lbs post op. I was banded on 12/28/12. The fact that my numbers are down all around should be good enough. My P CP is a whole other issue however. -
I'm planning on a bandster's "cruise to lose", I went on a cruise in January and lost 5 lbs. yes, you can lose on a cruise! Good going!

Sad to say same thing here. I'm disabled but more and more people are holding doors for me, in the grocery store I went to pick up a case of diet tea bottles. People come over now and offer to help me. I usually thank them for offering but I did it when I was heavier so I can do it now with ease thank you lol. Even on the airplane people offer to put my suitcase in the overhead bin, I used to have to ask the flight attendant to help me. Oh well!

I'm a very slow loser as well. I have not been in ONEderland since 1987. I'm so hoping to get there soon. I'm 8 months out and down 58 lbs. I have 11 lbs to go to get there. I think the first thing I'll do when I get there is kiss the scale, then kiss the ground lol!

Why would you cheat? Make sure you tell your doctor that you cheated. Non-compliance in the first six weeks is a no-no. Stick to your guns and try not to cheat anymore. Good luck!

Have you tried sipping a hot beverage such as tea?

Good luck to you and I'm sure your wife will be supportive once she starts seeing results!

Be grateful! It took me two weeks to recover but I feel fantastic 8 months out.
