Left side pain in stomach and back
**G** replied to berries16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had that too. It lasted about 5 weeks. My doc said its inflammation. Your body is still getting used to a foreign body inside and it could take some time to heal. Try some Tylenol 30 minutes before a meal. A few times a day to lower inflammation. Also try sipping some warm liquid prior to your liquid meal. It's soothing and the dr recommended that to me and it helped a lot! Good luck! -
Have an extra shake. Or if you can eat any solids still scramble and egg white. It's ok to have an extra protein if you need it! I had to do the same thing a few days. I still did great! By day 9 I was acclimated to the diet and feeling good.

Shoulder Pain When Hungry
**G** replied to Redesigned_Curves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get it when I have to burp or hiccup. It's new since banding. It's the same pain I had while I was just a few days out of surgery. I was banded 1/16/13 -

I drink a lot of hot drinks like hot tea or decaf coffee (although I try to limit coffee) when I'm feeling the hungry/not hungry battle. Typically it's soothing, something sweet to speak to my sweet tooth or it takes the edge off of an empty belly. It makes me slow down since its hot. I can take time to gauge hunger vs. boredom munchies. If that doesn't satisfy my hunger then I'll grab a small snack like a cheese stick or something. More often than not it does the trick!

I too had a 'good sized' hernia. I had the endoscopy that came bak negative for a hernia. My doc said the only real way to know was when he got in there. And sure enough! There was the trouble maker! I was a self pay and he said that there would be no extra charge to me to repair it, but he would submit it to my insurance to see if they would cover any of it. I told him whatever he needs to do...do it!!! WOW! What a difference! I still burp a lot! But I guess that's part of my new banded life, but it's not burning, acidic burps, I can eat things that didn't agree with me before and I have not had heartburn at all since repair! I was eating antacids like candy pre surgery. I'm very happy with the results thus far!!

Avocado! I eat it all by itself. Or mash it with chicken or tuna for moisture. Cottage cheese, smoothies, add pesto sauce to your meats to soften it. Finely chopped! Even if its shredded-chop it up. Mashed potatoes, cream of broccoli-blended, cream of wheat. I thought purée would kill me too, but it's not that bad!! You will be surprised what works. Be creative!
