I don't know how that emoticon with sunglasses ended up on my date lol but I weighed myself on March 18, not march 1st, just wanted to clarify hahaha

I think it's all part of the pre-op testing. I had mine done a couple of weeks ago and was told a few days ago that I do indeed have sleep apnea. I was shocked lol I really didn't think I'd have it..so now, when I go back to do my second sleep study, I will be coming home with a Cpap machine. Are you required to have a liquid diet before your surgery? My surgery is on the 26th of April..I'm super excited too!! I won't start my liquid diet till your surgery date I have decided to try and lose a few pounds on my own, I started on Monday, (march 18) and weighed 300.5..I'll weigh myself again on Monday. I'm not expecting to lose 10 or even 5 pounds, I'll be happy with 2 lol considering I just stopped eating fast food, with the exception of subway, junk food, and eating smaller portions, and very little exercise..I'm determined to be healthy and skinny! I don't know what skinny is. I've been over weight most of my life..I can't wait to be able to keep up with my 9 year old daughter (she is a baseball player) and I myself love love love to play softball!! I can't wait to join my sisters co-Ed league!! Good luck on your surgery!! Keep us posted

I will keep your anesthesiologists words in my thoughts till my surgery date!! It's helping me already!! -
I just got my surgery date! April 26! I'm so excited and ready for this!! Is there something specific that I need to be taking for my two week liquid diet? Is it just plain liquids that I can take? I've read so many things about protein shakes and whatnot on this site. Is this provided to me or do I go out and buy it? If I need to buy it, what am I to buy?? Can I take said liquids every time I get hungry? Or am I to drink as if I were eating a regular meal? They will let me know when my two week liquid diet is to start, right? Even though, I plan to start off slowly myself April 1st to mentally prepare myself. I know I can do it. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

When I had my EDG done, my surgeon said he could not tell if I had one or not and would know when he went in during surgery. That does not bother me, but what if I do have it? I've read a lot here, that insurance covers that procedure and make the cost of the band a lot less. For those of you who had a hiatal hernia and was covered by insurance, how did that work out for you? Price wise.

I'm not much of a milk drinker. I was wondering if I add water, frozen strawberries, spinach, and protein to my shake, will the water substitute make the same smoothie texture as it would with milk?

Ok, so I am to choose a protein supplement of my liking to replace two meals with. There are so many out there. Which one has kept you full longer?? I want to buy the powder kind. I've never made/drank anything like this, so if you can give me some ideas as to how to make it, or if you add anything to it to keep you full longer, it would be much appreciated..thanks!!

MFP is My Fitness Pal, it's an app, not sure if you can go on-line for it, but I'm sure you can, that helps count your calorie intake, exercise and whatnot. You can add friends to help you also. You should check it out..

Protein shakes
Chris_tina83 replied to Chris_tina83's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I'll be starting my pre-op diet in a couple of weeks, so I'm trying to gather as much information as I can, so I thank you for your replies. I love yogurt, I've never had the Greek yogurt, but I'm sure with the shake it will be a lot better. Thank you! -

I just received an email from the nutritionist..she sent me a 4 week calendar of what to eat. 2 weeks prior to surgery I am to replace 2 meals with the Protein Shakes, and i can have as much from the list of unlimited foods, which are mainly green veggies. I was weighed at my PCP office last month (Feb 15) and it said weighed 301, when I went to my seminar,(March 1) it said I weighed 297, I was happy I had lost 4 pounds! Then I went to do my pre-ops test and it said I weighed 301!! (March 13) I went back yesterday to my PCP for results and weighed 297! LOL I finally went out and bought myself a scale. I'm just gonna follow that one. It currently says 300.5. I'm not due to start my diet till the 29th. But I decided to eat better as of now. I'm not taking any shakes at the time, but I am eating healthier and exercising at least an hour a day. I'm SO ready for this, and I can't wait till the 26! Oh and I got my results to my sleep test and turns out I do have sleep apnea :/ I have to go back and have the test done again with the cpap. I hope that's all till my surgery, cause I can't afford to miss any more work and just drive 2 1/2 hours..

Hi, I have anthem ca. I believe if you have a BMI 40 or higher, they will cover. Or 35 with obesity related illnesses. I'm not really good when it comes to insurances. I've been paying for mine (thru work) for 6 years and have only used it once!! Lol But I am in the process of getting, rather, trying to get the lap band. I have to pay my deductible, which is 500, then insurance pays 50%. It's not much, I know, but it's better than nothing. Covers all pre-opt appt, like the psychological testing, sleep apnea, etc. my insurance requires 1 month of nutrition classes. I am scheduled for the sleep apnea, ultra sound, and edg (I think that's what it's called) on the 13th. I just had my seminar yesterday. (3-1-13) if you got to Lapband.com they will refer u to a seminar closest to you. And you can go from there. Hope I helped! Even just a little bit Good luck!

I am a very happy person right now! I am scheduled for my sleep apnea test on the 13th of March, and my insurance is requiring 1 month of nutrition classes, which will be over the phone. I have a 500 hundred deductible which I will have to pay, but I'm totally fine with that. I am so excited! I went in thinking (because of what I've read here about insurances requesting months of nutrition classes) I was going to have to take them for months. I will keep everyone posted!!

Lee, my mind is set! I'm ready, but insurance is the only option for me at this time. I am a single mother, with a mortgage and car payment. One car, so selling mine is no option lol..My insurance does cover WLS, so I'm hoping and praying they won't give me a problem *fingers crossed* but IF for some reason they don't, I am almost done paying off my car, so maybe after, I'll look in to self pay. I regret now, not going through it last year but hopefully soon enough I'll be able to post my surgery date!! One week from today, I have my seminar to go to!! -

Carolina, I have my appointment for the seminar on March 1st. Although I've been to one before, I'm excited to go to this one and get the ball rolling. Again. Haha
