I also seem to never be full and can eat "normal" meals. I am 4 mn post op and talked to my doctor. He told me the same "everyone is different speech" and then told me never to be full. Be satisfied. He said for those of us who don't get full it will be easy to consume a lot if calories and over eat what we need. Never eat and drink at the same time-wait the 1/2 hour. Chew as much as you can to let your brain catch up with your stomach. So I personal do the following: Measure out everything, use fitness pal app on my phone to track every calorie I take in, work out and get in at least 70 ounces of Water daily. That keeps me full for the most part and keeps me in check. I still am losing so it works for me. I hope you find what works for you.

I have RA, lupus and fib. My sleeve has been a blessing in so many ways. One major way is I don't have to take any of my meds for these daily! I do still get pain in my hands, feet, etc but it is manageable. If I have to I pop a over the counter pain med like aleeve but since my feb surgery date I have only needed that twice. I can tell you the surgery along with drink 70+ ounces of Water daily, working out, and staying away from sugar, flour, and any high carb items have helped a lot. I also take a garlic pill and fish oil pills daily for inflammatory. If I skimp on water, miss my pills or eat a sandwich I sure feel it. Hope this helps someone. It took me a while to figure out but has been so worth it! -
I feel you. I am 3 months post op and down 37 pounds. Started out at 286. I try not to cone on here much anymore because it seems everyone has lost double compared to me. I still happy with the 37. Do I wish it was 57? Of course! The only thing keeping me going is the way I feel, that I don't have crazy loose skin, and don't look older in the face like some of the fast losers seem to end up. So I take what I can get and look on the positive side. Plus if I could have lot the 37 on my own with diet/exercise changes I would have. Since I couldn't I am happy for every pound I lost.

Sleeved 2/28 and down 30. I am 5 ft 2. I have 50 more to go and this seems crazy slow but I keep telling myself it didn't jump on me fast and will not leave me fast either. -

Being supportive isn't just living with someone and dieting with them every once in a while. My husband ha beyond supportive and here are sine basic things he did for me: 1. what I eat he eats when we are around each other. I am 7 weeks out and he still does this. When he is at work or out on his own then he indulges. I keep saying it is not needed but he said if it helps me only 5% it is worth it. I am on regular foods now so it isn't a big deal since we eat baked fish at least once a day and don't eat junk food. 2. He walks with me after dinner a few times a week. I work out daily in the morning but those are great bonding times and we both get exercise. There are so many other things like not buying any junk food or bring it in the house, planning outings were we get exercise in, etc. The bottom line is maybe thinking of all his past failures is rubbing off in him. Maybe he is lazy and doesn't want to try to try too hard. But being there for a loved one who is dealing with this means NOT judging. On things in the past or even last night. Offer to help and help in any way you can without saying a word to him. If he doesn't take it or do the correct things then it is his fault he is not using the tool he has. That is on him and him alone. The other thing is why are you on this site and not him? I get your trying to understand and all but honestly unless you have struggled with this demon like we have you can not ever totally understand. People can explain it to you till they are blue in the face but it can't make sense to you. I have one more thing to toss out. I have 5 autoimmune disorders. Since they wreck my body from the inside and attacked my metabolism making it not functioning no diet in the world would work for me like this has. We all have different reasons for needing this surgery and implying it is because we "let ourselves go" is just ignorant. I'm glad you couldn't let yourself get beyond 30 pounds over the weight you wanted. Good for you but for some of us it was a medical issue or maybe simply we didn't notice how bad it was until it was 100 pounds over. Everyone is different and my heart goes out to each person for doing this for what ever reason. I think good for them for taking a chance to hopefully save their life. In proud if my fellow sleevers and proud of Rick for doing it. Are you? Does he know if you are? How are you showing it? These are things you might want to look it. That's my 2 cents. Take it or leave it. -

I do low calorie shakes (around 100 cal ), hard boiled eggs, tuna out if a can, imitation lobster meat, baked white fish, green peppers, other veggies and low fat and calorie soups most days. i usually get 600-800 daily. It is all about making good choices. I try not to do processed food, tv dinners or anything that doesn't fit in my daily counts. i pre plan all my meals so I don't go crazy and get in too many calories. I'm not saying it is easy but it helps. I did have a day where I had a slice of pizza (didn't plan that meal out and totally learned my lesson. I get lazy if I don't plan and just grab what is around and smells good.) that day I had 1100 calories. I know that us not good for me so I worked my butt off at the gym and made sure the next day I lowered it to 650 for the rest of the week. -
Sending you a big hug! My advise would be do some very high Protein shakes to get protein in (muscle milk is a good one) and start sipping Water all day long. Add some crystal light to get the water down easier. I go to the dollar tree and get the sugar free Hawaiian punch grape flavor. It is cheaper and takes like koolaid. Feel free to message me fig you need to talk to someone. I am 30 and get what you are dealing with. I have a great husband but he is clueless and after he was eating my favorite foods around me and I admitted t was killing me he stopped. Maybe they don't understand how hard it is for you? Even if they do it will get better. When you start dropping a ton of weight it will be SO worth it. They also might be jealous that you too a step to be better and they didn't. I have heard of this happening in families where several of them are overweight. I'm not sure if it is your situation or not but I had a friend deal with that and it sucked. They tried to sabotage her by eating in front of her and making her feel like crap. I hope this is not your situation again but if it is seek help from a professional. We are great and all but by no means a professional.

I'm only 6 wk out but my grind who had the surgery years ago gave me this advice. She lost 85 pounds and was told I wait 2 years after before having plastic surgery. During that time she was told to work out as much as possible, get 80 protein in daily, moisturize like crazy and drink tons of water. She noticed after her 6mn mark her super saggy skin for better then better again at the 1 1/2 year mark. After 5 years she had plastic surgery to remove all the extra skin. She said it was a lot more painful than the actual sleeve and recovery was a lot worse. She advised me to not consider anything until I hit that 2 year mark. Then think about it-hard. In her opinion she would advise not to but it depends on you. No one ca make a choice like that for you but be aware it will not be a walk in the park. -

We all stumble sometimes. Pick yourself up and start over. Tomorrow is a new day and we have your back. You CAN do this! I would also have a rule no candy in the house for a while. My weakness is pizza. I asked everyone to not have any in the house for a while. Everyone kind of think it sucks but of course were willing to do it. If you know what your trigger to make bad choices is dont be around it. That has helped me a lot so far. -

My go to foods were Taco Bell pinto and cheese and Wendy chili when I was out. These were awesome and 1/2 filled me up. When at home I did what everyone else stated. -
I stalled at 3 wk also. I wrote everything down and worked out daily. You are prob doing everything right but like others stated your body is just adjusting. When this happened to me I upped my calories from 409-700 daily to 900 twice a week and that week started losing again and have been ever since. I just keep mixing up my food and 5 times a week try to hit 800 calories and 2 days a week try to hit 900. Doing that with watching my carbs, and keeping fat between 20-30 grams a day is working well for me. I am at week 6 and doing great. We are all different so just alter some stuff wait 3-4 days to see if it helps and just keep trying. Good luck and we are here for you!

We all got in this mess by handling other issues incorrectly right? It might be different for everyone so why is it so hard to believe we will get out if it a little different too? Most of our doctors have different ideas on what stages we go to and how fast, etc. the reason they do not all agree is because they have all had different patients with different results. So do what your doctor tells you. If you can't seem to break a stall or want to try something that helped someone else- more power to you. If you want to eat around your sleeve (which I really hope not) then it is still your choice. No one here is your mom or your doctor. I do think some of these posts that are being negative are just concerned. Maybe they have been there and trying to help. Their scolding may not help you but if it helps someone from falling off the wagon then go them. Above all I am just a slow loser who wants to do the best I can and like all the advice I have seen. Sometimes I think how crazy someone people are just skip over their posts. That's just me and my 2 cents -
Melba is a very soft bread and is small. Like at least 3 would the same size as a regular slice of bread. It isn't made with white flour either so it is better for you. I am sticking away from bread to but it is because of the calorie/carb issue. Is bread bad for a sleeved for any other reason? I have has a 1/2 A slice here and there with no issues. I had a few pieces of sushi tonight too with the rice and no problems. I see my doctor next week and can't wait to tell them what I'm eating so if it is wrong they can correct me. So far every time I ask it is a standard response of in moderation. I only have 2 days of soft food left so trying to stick to it.

I have been doing really well since day one. Never any pain, vomiting or anything at all. I try I make myself wait 2-4 hours to eat since I never feel full but always want to eat. My issue is I can easily eat a regular meal and I'm only 6 weeks out. I was given the ok for regular food and everything but am concerned I hurting myself by eating. Here is my normal day: 64-80 ounces of water breakfast -shake, snack- 2 hard boiled eggs, lunch 6" inch subway veggie sub, snack 1 sugar free jello, dinner 4 oz baked white fish. I average 700 calories a day, get in at least 63 protein and average 22 grams of fat. My doctor doesn't seem concerned but reading all these stories about gaining it back and only able go eat 2 ounces of food is freaking me out. I still lose 2 pounds a week (same as I always did when I was only doing 400 calories in the beginning.) so scale is really slow but always has been. I am down 18 pounds since surgery. That seems like nothing for 6 freaking weeks but I am still happy. Anyone one else like this? I know I eat fast but gave trying to slow down and chew more. I always following the wait to eat rules too. I guess I just want some input from others who are having same experiences or had them. Thanks in advance.

I'm not a vegetarian but before surgery ate most of my foods from veggies. I am going to try skipping the shake and eat Cereal or something else. Thanks for the advice.

They gave me the ok for veggies/fruit but if they have a tough skin to skip. So I am told no apple peels but just to add a new food every day and see how I tolerate it. So far nothing has bothered me but I am not even to try things like nuts, popcorn or stuff like that. Mostly because I am trying to make low carb choices. Nuts like almonds are a love if mine. i know they are low carb but I don't want to eat too many so I just stay away from them. Before surgery I did low carb for years just to maintain my weight. When I didn't the scale kept rising. So the healthy food/low carb thing us a breeze to me. I have been doing it forever. I can actually eat more kinds of food after surgery. It was kind of exciting to eat whole wheat bread again and yogurt.

I am 5 1/2 weeks out and only down 19 pounds. It does suck I see tons of people losing a ton. I try to not look anymore when people post stuff about it. It ends up depressing me too much. I started out at 284 and am 5 foot 2. My doctor told me I would prob end up just at the 210-200 mark. Being 200 sounds amazing to me but at this rate it will take a full year to get there. I know he said one reason I won't loose more than that is because I had a high muscle weight. Maybe the people who loose crazy fast are losing a lot more because they started out with less muscle? I don't know if that's true but I tell myself that so I feel better! -
Yes I ate most of the bread Pn the sub. I am making good choices nothing fried or too high in carbs. My doctor did testing and said everything was normal. My only vice would be pizza and I had one piece last week but could have eaten more that. I limit myself on calories and even if I am hungry dont eat most days. I tell myself this is a tool and I can't be crazy about it. So I write out my calories daily with a food journal. If I have enough calories to eat a slice and it is around I have it. I don't have pizza in my house often and cook 95% of the time so this will work for me. If I was around it more I could see it as my down fall and asked my family to not bring it home. I am short 5 foot 2. So I assumed my sleeve would be short. I also am a type 1 diabetic and have a few other auto immune disorders. I am wondering if that matters. My doctor have done thousands of sleeves but has never had a patient who is a type 1 diabetic and had all my autoimmune issues. I just wonder if that us somehow playing a role in my sleeve if steel. It just seems too good to be true so I am trying to be careful.

Are you still losing? I get 600-1000 cal a day (usually 800), 63-70 protein and 64-80 ounces if water and only lose 1-2 pounds a week. The first 2 weeks lost 12 pounds. I am in week 5 and still only 1-2 pounds a week for weeks I see my doctor next week but feel like I am doing something wrong. Not sure if I should cut out more calories or add a little more. It is confusing.. -

I am 5weeks out and gave the hunger too. I also can eat what fed like a unlimited amount and nothing has make me sick. Personally I will not allow myself to eat unless it has been at least 3 hours since my last bite . I get in 70-90 ounces of water in day because I m hungry and need something in my stomach/mouth so I won't eat. That at the only thing (drinking extra water) that helps. It doesn't cure it but honestly helps me a lot. I also have a sheet I write in every time i eat or drink so I can make sure I am waiting the 3-4 hours. I also write down every calorie, gram of fat and protein I eat. If I make a not so good choice (had a slice of pizza yesterday so only low carb/fat shakes and water for the rest of the day) I just forced myself to not eat much for the rest of the day and know I will be stuck drinking even more water. I try to hold myself accountable and force myself to stick under my numbers. So far they tell me that is ok as long as I don't make bad choices often. In 5 weeks having pizza once and having wheat pasta another time was my 2 down falls. I still stuck in my calorie,etc goals and am ok with it. I had to just tell myself to get over the hunger and choose to drink more water to help. After a while it really did. -
I'm no help with the bleeding but I did had a cough too last week and took sugar free cough drops as needed until it passed.

I have been under 4 times and it is a breeze. I am also in the medical field and gave seen it done hundreds of times so that helps. The problems with being under are very rare. We have several things in place just in case something does happen but I have been doing this 12 years and never seen anything worse than vomiting after waking up in the post op room from being under.
