Started at 235 - at 189 lbs now - slow and steady seems to be the way. I am fine with that, as I can really eat almost anything in the small portion size - so I like that. I am going to go for a small fill and hoping to get longer time before I get the hunger pains. Hope everyone is puffing along the road to health and happiness

I can feel my port site it is slightly hard but you have to apply some pressure to feel that - it is not noticeable to anyone else- even my husband. (This of coarse is once you have healed ) It is certainly nothing to worry about
-
Lots of ice and I drank fast ( a no no now) - best of luck to you!

Off for fill number 3 today - been bouncing with the same 5 pounds for what seems forever so hoping this will give me a boast.

So frustrated been jumping between 199 and 202 for weeks now - god its frustrating when I have been going to gym and eating well - at this point it certainly is no easier then weight loss without the band - going for 3rd fill next week. Hoping that things start moving - didn' t pay $15000.00 to lose 30 lbs. Seems like the scale is playing with me as my first goal was to get under that 200 mark. Anyway how is everyone one else managing.

I felt that I needed to talk to a "live" person before my surgery and my clinic was nice enough to get two different people around my age and profile to call me - we just chatted about their lives since surgery and what I could expect - it put me at ease - answered questions I had not even thought to ask and assured me that live does go on after surgery. Maybe you could ask you clinic to do the same for you?

I have only been banded since March 12th - so by no means experienced with the band, but I also had many doubles prior to the surgery. I think we have been telling ourselves for many years that we must be failers to have gotten to the weight we are and again failers because we cann't get the weight off ourselves. I think a good part of this process to succeed is to be able to change those voices to "I can do this" "I am worthy" I am down 30 lbs have 50 to go but am beginning to be able to look in the mirror and think ya I am worth this and I can do this. I hope you find the courage to do what is right for you and begin your journey to a better you!

Hope you can see the difference - we sure can !! Great Job you look healthy!

Yes I think once per day is to much to weigh - maybe once per week at most. And if you add your string cheese into your calorie count it would be ok but it is not protein based so make sure you are getting the required amount in throughout the day

Compliments are hard to take. Not worthy?

Yes I know how you feel - only 2 friends know about my band - several others asked if I wanted to be part of a biggest loser challenge and I said no because I felt they would think I was a "cheater" if they knew I had a band -
Hang in your almost there!

Welcome and best wishes on your journey!

just figured it out on MFP if you go into your home page and click on the track food it will break foods on your daily dairy into Protein, sodium, carbs, etc. then you can see how many you have had per day. Cannt seem to see this on my phone but when I went onto my computer extra options there. Hope that helps!

Do you count calories or just watch what you eat?
newbeebee replied to katspaw's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Question for those of you who use My Fitness Pal - is there a place were it adds and displays your protein, totals from the day? or do you just manually add them of the dairy? -
Had my first fill Tuesday - i was also very nervous about the pain - and believe me when I saw the needle it did not make me feel better - Nurse asked if I would like some freezing - I said hell yes..lol Very small prick with freezing needle then no pain but was glad I got the freezing as she did "dig" around as apparently my port is a little on the side? Anyway did my 24 hrs liquid 24 mushy and planning a "regular" supper tonight. Good Luck!

Fitness pal is great - uploaded to my iphone then you can add to it were ever you are and also great for shopping you can scan bar codes and find nutritional values per serving size. Also can track exercise -
I had a hernia for years prior to surgery - used to use lots of antacid etc. it was repaired during placement of the band My doctor had told me years ago that the more over weight you are they more problems with the hernia you may have. Anyway repaired during surgery and home within hours

Best of Luck to both of you !! Great that you will be taking the journey together. After surgery I had some shoulder pain but walking even small amounts ( up and down a hallway or around the house) helps and a heating pad for your stomach helped but really not much pain with the meds. Sounds like you have had some major surgery so sure you will find this much easier Again Good Luck on your journey

I have been banded 6 weeks tomorrow - I was second guessing my decision even as I was being led into the surgery room - I think we know we need help but also are scared of the unknown - so far I am having a great experience with the band - have a fill tomorrow.
-
I also had my surgery on March 12th and have not had a fill yet. Appointment on the 23rd - have lost 30 lbs including pre diet 20 - didnt think I felt any restriction until I over ate some lasagna yesterday - Felt uncomfortably full for about 5 hours - did that at lunch and thought I better not eat much else for the day so stuck to fluids. Still having a hard time with the slow eating - a work in progress I guess
-
Best of Luck on your journey - dont be to hard on yourself (as we all tend to be) - remember the important part is what you are doing now - so forget the guilt of yesterday and focus on the future.

Day 4 and not doing so well
newbeebee replied to Lionbird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try getting some fiber that you can mix into your water or juice they are flavour free and mix clear - I also to use some exlax - cannt say I am "regular" yet but only 12 day post op and had problems on the pre op diet as well tho sure time will help Take care and rest as much as you can - as the days pass your energy will increase - remember you just had a surgery - while it may not be that visiable on the outside was probably fairing tramatic to the inside -
Hiatal hernia repair
newbeebee replied to pondqueen46's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 12 days post op and also had hernia repair - used heating pad - didnt have much pain but the heat was nice just the same. Wouldnt say pain at port but if move quickly one way might get a twitch. So ready to move on the some "real:" food but dont think my stomach is - have had some cottage cheese, egg salad but only maybe 1/4 cup at a time. Seems like forever but sure looking back in a few months will seem different.
