Autoimmune Disorders and the Lapband NOT Compatable
Aza359 replied to Baba Wawa's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have psoriasis for years and got psoriatic arthritis at the young age of 22 i am now 24 psoriasis is considered a chronic autoimmune disease i chose the band because it was less drastric then the sleeve or bypass i consulted with all my doctors and my surgeon absolutely insisted on the band 1. Because i was a smaller patient and 2. Due to my condition and the healing process and meds. According to my dermatologist there is no link to WLS as being a bad idea and worsening my conditions, studies are only going by what may have happened to 1 person. In fact my dr encouraged WLS if i am successful i can ease off my meds! I do not doubt my decision nor would i have gone forward if my dr's didnt think it was a good idea. So with that being said anyone wanting the band should always consult with their DR before not some random joe smoe or an article! -
Tomorrow i will be 3 weeks post-op cannot wait for a fill im doing great in the morning .. Come the evening lately terrible with food choices! I keep telling myself STOP you are still healing just very hungry and even though my family has changed meals to healthier versions im not in the soft/solid food stage but yet have already ate that type of food. I need to get back on track!!!! I can do this ... Need to do this i was so motivated pre-op... But not so much post-op hmm

Is there a rule of how much you should drink, should i strictly be sipping sometimes i find myself taking big gulps just not realizing i am doing it maybe im over thinking it?
-
I have a 14cc as well, i was like geeze thanks doc! he said i had a lot of fatty tissue around my stomach he said its just where my body liked to store fat.

I have lost no weight either but i am not concerned with that my nutrionist told me not to be discouraged if i dont lose any weight in the 6 weeks after surgery. I just need to stick to my post op liquid mushy pureed foods and think of how motivated i was pre op if i stuck out a strict pre op diet i need to do the same post op only i can make these choices and i know i can do better! Mornings are great i just need to tackle to evenings!

Problem drinking protein
Aza359 replied to browneyedgirl84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jolly Rancher, huh? Before surgery, my nurse recommended that I drink fruit Isopure drinks. They taste like Jolly Ranchers and have 50 gms of Protein. So I paid $70 for a case of them on GNC.com. Helloooo...They don't taste anything like Jolly Ranchers. They were nasty. Ended up giving my whole case to a friend whos a body builder. Also spent a fortune on Muscle Milk. Also gross. ended up spending $15 on a big tub of Protein powder at Walmart that was drinkable. I know what you mean about gagging to drink them tho. Every hour when I was sposed to drink 1 oz of Protein shake, I gagged. The strawberry isn't too badtho. reminds me of strawberry Quick. Never had another protein shake after I started eating real food. You're almost there! Marci Omg you are not lying i tried 2 kinds disgusting .. But painfully drank 1 today yuckkkkkk -

Amazing!!!! -
I agree with sapcat... Also expect pain, its ok if the first few days you feel like you have no appetite and your stomach area is rumbling doesnt always mean you are hungry i had no appetite the first couple days but remember to get as much fluid in you as possible to prevent dehydration, walk walk walk, pillows, you may or may not see a weight loss do not be discouraged! I gained 12lbs from all the saline through IV nearly fell over but it eventually comes off and im at my starting weight from the day of surgery and still havent lost any weight remember this is still a healing stage and u may not lose any weight until u get a fill just keep positive! Gas pains suck try everything u can to relieve it if nothing works like in my case do not hesitate to call your dr who gave me a pill to dissolve under my tongue and i also incorporated a fiber gummy helped me so much! Sooner than you know you will feel 100% better! Good luck and Congrats!!!

I know! Thanks congrats on yours as well cant wait to finally get a fill and progress. Right now i am not seein any results but im ok with that its still the beginning for me!
