Maddysgram, That is why I would never recommend it for anyone not trained! Any number of things could happen. I do verify placement after I access my port to make sure I am in the correct place.

Sorry Suzanne. I am at a friends house who introduced me to this site and on her computer. I tried to reply and it showed up as her. This should have been from me: "Lol. When my dr office did it, it did hurt. But I got a size smaller needle and do it very slowly and gently. I dont even feel it. There was no pain at all or blood with the last fill." I just started using this site today.

I know this is an old post but just thought I would chime in. Wanted to see if anyone else is doing their own fills. I actually am doing my own fills. I will go up no more than 0.5cc every 2 weeks if needed. I do use a special needle, sterile EVERYTHING, and sterile technique. I am a bachelor's prepared nurse and have years of experience accessing ports. I would not recommend it without proper training. I have not had any problems doing my own fills. But, again, I am trained in this and have all needed equipment.
