Say one nice thing about lap bands
pondqueen46 replied to Julie norton's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Cathy Picture.docxI am one of those who have sat by and have read other peoples posts. I have been banded now for 2 years. It has been an amazing journey and I would do it again in a heart beat. My decision was easy with this surgery for I did my research and understood from the beginning that the lapband is becoming a distant memory. I just did not want my insides taken out or rearranged. I am saddened how so many people put this choice of lapband down. If this lapband had to come out I would just go with out and I would understand that the weight would come back. Just remember in a few years there will probably be something new. For me I have lost 45 pounds and my biggest accomplishment is I have been off of my diabetes medicine since the day out of surgery. I would read how people would wonder if they have reached the sweet spot including myself. It has taken me 2 years to find that sweet spot and you will know. I do not get hungry as much and the thought of food has dimmed. This lapband has made it so I can not overeat if I tried. I always liked seeing how much Fluid we have in our bands for some reason and for me I have a 10cc band and I received a fill last week and now have 8cc. Wow, what a diffence it has made, I have lost another 4 pounds this week. My weight loss has been slow but I am fine with that for it took me many years to put it on. I wish everyone the best on no matter what surgery you choose for we all have one goal and that is to be healthier. -

I had surgery March 19th and I have also missed my cycle which before was like clockwork.

When I left the hospital the first day I felt really good. I was released the same day and would suggest a hot water bottle and a pillow. It was the second day I started to hurt with gas pains and where the band was placed was sore, not so much where they put the port. I was also given some liquid pain medicine and a chewable pill to help with the nausea. Stop alot and get out of the vehicle and walk around.

2nd time waiting around

You will hear good and bad about all the weight lost surgery. I am 8 days postop and have lost 13 pounds and am on no insulin as of right now. The reason I chose the lap band was like I am sure many people would have to agree is I did not want my insides rearranged. This is the best thing I could have done for myself. I also went back to work after 2 days but did tire out by the end of the day. My job does not require any physical labor. -
Picking up my liquid diet tomorrow!!!
pondqueen46 replied to soanl1412's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is interesting how each person is different with the preop diet. I did not have to do one. I am starting to think it prepares you because I am 5 days postop and I am having a hard time with liquids and am starting to get hungy. Good luck to you! -
Day 4 and not doing so well
pondqueen46 replied to Lionbird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hear you. I am postop 5 days and my port is so sore I can not even bend over to pick something up. My little 4 year old is helping momma pick up things. Its kind of funny. Try some milk of magnesia that helped me. I have lost 9.5 pounds which just amazes me. I also think I am not getting enough calories maybe 350. I am only drinking broth and just started cream soups and only 1 shake a day. Have you been able to drink 64 oz. of water? I am lucky to be drinking half of that. -
I am postop 5 days and was wondering if anyone else had a hiatal hernia repair. I did not even know I had. Is this common? Also port site is very sore and was wondering how long that pain will last and does heat or ice on it make it feel better.

I am also postop 5 days and the gas pains get better by walking. I to felt it was weird haveing a foreign object in me but I am sure after time we wont even think about it. I am having pain in my port area and I am not sure to put ice or heat on it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. How long does it hurt in that area?
