    I guess I’m regretting a little...

You did not gain all your weight in a short period of time. It takes time for your body to adjust to the smaller amount of food that it is getting. I don't understand people being discouraged at 2 weeks out of not losing more then 14lbs. It will come. Stay off the scale. Are you sleeping at least 8 hours? Are you moving your bowels regularly? Are you drinking enough water? All these things matter in weight loss but the most thing that matters is your patience. It will happen. Stay off the scale.

    Keto after sleeve?

You shouldn't have to do any other diets other then the one your dietician gave you. You have to have some carbs because they full the body. Drink one protein shake a day that has 30 grams of protein in it then the rest food. I am not saying this mean but we all had weight loss surgery to get away from all the failed diets we already did. If any of them worked we wouldn't have needed surgery. Up your cardio.

    SHOULD I DO IT?

The whole time I was waiting for surgery I had that horrible thought in my mind that I just want my lapband out and don't want the sleeve but I had gained so much weight I really didn't have a choice. Even the day of surgery I almost told my surgeon to just take out my band and forget it. But my husband told me you know you need this. So they whisked me away to surgery and I woke up in horrendous pain. Not only did he removed my lapband but I had a ton of scar tissue in there plus a hiatal hernia that he repaired. I wanted to die right there. Well here I am a week and three days after surgery and I feel good. Feel human. Hang in there and don't have second thoughts. It is worth it.
  4. I was sleeved Aug 17 still on full liquids until I see the surgeon. The first week was hell for me. I felt like total crap and wonder why the hell I did this to myself. I only wanted my lapband removed but he talked me into the sleeve. Well I started feeling so much better over the weekend. I feel human again. I am still hungry though. I want to eat food but I know the stomach takes time to heal. If I had not lost 23lbs in the last two weeks I probably would be so miserable but the weight loss has definitely changed my mind that I did the right thing.

    My beginning journey

If the shakes are too sweet get frozen fruit and make a smoothie that is the only way I can drink them. Water I love so no problems with that.

My 3 month 6 day post surgery status update

I think it is normal for any of us to do better stop eating junk but we all had a relationship with food. I found that before my surgery in the liquid phase I just had to break up with my food. I have to be all or nothing. I can't eat those things in moderation because it becomes the whole day of sugar if I take one bite. Its hard but I must. I am happy with my weight loss in two weeks 21lbs but I know it won't go like that forever. I have to start walking soon. Hopefully the weather will change and I can get outside.
  7. I will be two weeks post op on Friday. I see my surgeon on Thursday. I came home on full liquids and Thursday I will go to soft foods. I know its annoying because I could puke to drink another protein shake but using different frozen fruits I can get it down. You have to realize they have taken 80% of your stomach. It takes time to heal. That is the reason for the different changes in diet. Honestly I am hungry and I thought I would never be hungry again but that was a lie. I could eat someone's finger maybe even a toe at this point. When I do start to consume food I will make sure I will get enough protein in so that I won't need any protein shakes.
  8. It doesn't matter if you were hydrated. Everyone gains water weight from the IV fluids you get before, during and after surgery. That was just them trying to bully you. I drink a ton of water every single day and I still gained about 14lbs in water weight. Never weigh yourself after any surgery. It will disappoint you.

    Lap-Band isn't working for me

I am surprised they did the lapband on you with all those issues. I had my band 9 years. After six years and I was down to 169 one day I just started vomiting and it continued for the next three years. The hospital that I worked for paid nothing for the lapband so I was either gonna have to pay 25,000 dollars or keep it. Well fast forward they finally paid to have it removed if I converted to another surgery. I was sleeved a week ago and this week I have spent wondering why I did this to myself. I don't know in time that it will be worth it. I feel I just mutilated my body again and I have lost 20lbs in the past week but what we do to be thin just worries me. If I could have had my band removed with no other surgery and have been able to eat real food I think I could have done it on my own. I feel like I was forced to get the sleeve just to get rid of my band.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

My surgery was Aug 17th. It has been hell this whole first week. I had a large amount of scarring from my lapband that he had to get rid of, fixed my hernia and then sleeved. The pain has been terrible from the hiatal hernia repair. I have lost 20lbs this first week.

    August Sleevers-How are you doing??

If you buy the body fortress protein powder it has 30 grams of protein in each scoop. If you drink two a day that is all your protein.

    Massive gut not shrinking

Your stomach is the last to go.

I am SO tired of sweet things!

You can buy protein powder with 30 grams in it. You can get body fortress right at Walmart for 17.99. Drink 2 and you have had your 60 grams. Why would you waste calories on only 5 grams of protein shakes that is just odd.

    Feeling Defeated

If you are disappointed with yourself then you need to ask yourself why. If you are not following the meal plans the dietician gave you or the exercise plan you were told then you won't lose 20lbs in the next four months. You have to get on board and do what you were told to do. I am only a week out of the gastric sleeve and have lost 20lbs as of today. Its not hard. Your are making it hard.

How can I jump start my weight loss again?

You have lost 67lbs in a month. You are not going to lose weight every week, every month just because you had the bypass. Your body can not process the fast weight loss like you can. You don't need to do anything but stick to the diet your doctor gave you. What you were doing post op is not what your body requires now. That is the one thing people fail to realize its not gonna keep coming off without your body catching up. 3 weeks is not a stall. Not losing weight in a couple months is a stall. Be patient it will keep moving just give it time.

    3 Week Post Op

You are not going to lose weight every day and sometimes not every week. You have to stop getting on the scale. As far as eating your pouch can hold on an average 3 oz. You may still have swelling in there. Just eat what you can and the rest let it be for now.

I am SO tired of sweet things!

Do you like beans? Beans are high in protein but you would have to take gas x or something after you eat them. Get some dried beans and cook them down with some chicken stock.

    August 2018 sleeve surgery!!

I had my surgery Friday Aug 24th. I would say the pain was much worse then when I had the lap band.. He removed my band and 9 years of scarring and a hiatal hernia repair. The worst issue is when breathing in. It hurts. I have been using my incentive spirometer every hour and walking around. That is my only complaint.

Does my pouch need stretched by the dr?

You don't want your pouch stretched and besides the doctor won't do that. It can in time stretch out but you want to be careful of the. Too much stretching will make it so you can eat more and that is not what we had the surgery for. By a years time you should be able to eat a cup of food.

    Getting discouraged.....need some encouragement

You didn't gain all that weight over night and you won't lose it overnight. The best thing you can do for yourself is stay off the scale. Get weighed at your doctors office and let that be it. Weight loss surgery unless you have the bypass is not going to go fast. If you are losing 2lbs a week that is good. Two weeks is not a stall. Sometimes you may go 2 months without any weight loss. You just have to be patient, do what your doctor tells you and the weight will come off. Its still early and you still may have swelling. Think about healing in stead of losing weight.

    endoscopy

I have to have one every two years and I am fine once I wake up. Everyone reacts to anesthesia differently.
  25. Unless you are really not sure of what you can eat then I would not bother. She is probably going to say the same thing she has already told you and make you log your food which I hate logging.
