Thank you to susansilver, Wheezy and litar, the list is really appreciated. Also, thanks for telling me that I can get a video that my GP can look over, I'm sure we could figure it out pretty easily. The information that everyone can provide on this site is quite amazing... It's also great that it's from people going through this procedure as well a being living proof it works... Thanks for being there :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: (STANDING OVATION!!!)

Hi, is there anyone who knows of Doctors who do fills in Montreal or area? I live midway between Ottawa and Montreal. So far no surgeons in P.Qc., unless I am mistaken?

Hi, can anyone tell me why we are asked to eat only cottage cheese and yogurt for two weeks pre-op?? I am diabetic, is it safe to do this? If I do not eat at regular intervals i feel sick and dizzy... I cant imagine trying to sustain myself stictly on yogurt (I can not eat cottage cheese it makes me gag!!) :faint:

PB... That sounds kind of scary!!

Ok, I am clearer on what is what... Still bugs the cr%$?p out of me... I just dont like the idea of thinking I may foam at the mouth or regurgitate whatever has not gone down well...:sick But seriously, is this the worst side effect of the band or is there something else I want (or maybe not) to know?? thanks again -
Hey Mark, Thanks for the input... being on this forum definately gives one somtething to pause and think about. Interesting to know that surgery is also less costly in the USA. I would prefer to get surgery in US than in Mexico. The most important to me is proper care, clean hygenic facilities, competent staff and my safety. The cost is only a drop in the vase at this point. However I do have four children to think of so... Mark is that a kitty or a boston terrier in your avatar? I am curious because I own a Boston. I will be looking into the website you refered me to. Thanks again

I hear everyone talking about pb'ing and I can say that is the one thing really making me terrified of going through the surgery... Does that mean getting food stuck? How does one get "unstuck"? Can you actually choke? I may be panicking for nothing but it kind of has me spooked... Are there any people to who that does not happen? Is it very common? I've read that it is really gross and gooey. Will this be something I have to worry about all the time? I felt really positive and now I'm not so sure... Maybe I am being a wuss... Afterall I've had four kids (2 c-sections and 2 Forceps... Major suffering, big babies) Sorry if I am going on about this...:faint: Help anyone?? Thanks

Hi Devana, Thanks for the reply... I am really thinking of getting my surgery in Mexico, the only glitch I find is that around here there is'nt really anywhere that is nearby for fills... Closest I've found so far is in Toronto (about 7 hours away) not sure if anyone does fills in Montreal or not. It's the same for surgery, all I could find were in Toronto, none in this province. Did you pay all the fees yourself or could you get some financial aid. We applied for medical credit and are waiting on an answer. The only thing I am not sure about is if it applies for out of the country also?? Probably not but anywho... Was your experience with Mexico something you would do again? Which Dr. did you see? if you don't mind me asking. Well thanks again

You both have a point... that I had not thought of:confused: This the exact reason I came here to start with... Find people with experience and insight on what to do or what not to do... Thank you!!

That sounds really good Laura, I would love to know how everything goes and what procedures you have to through to get there... Please keep me informed... Thank you so much, keep in contact -
Hi, have any of you gone to Mexico to get their surgery? If so, are there any particular procedures that you had to follow? Do you fly directly to Mexico or to the States than drive? I am considering this option because of the related costs... I was quoted for surgery in Canada and it's half the amount in Mexico... I hear it's safe and very clean and that the staff there is fabulous (not that I dont think it's the same here...)

Thanks again for responding... there is not much on the Canadian posts that seem to cover this particular topic so... I should still try posting there, I am still new and saw that a lot of people were going to Mexico to get surgery. Figured this was a good place to start... -
Thank you for the lovely compliment (I have to learn to accept them even if I dont feel good about myself..) It's so cool to hear that you lost 50 pounds. Do you still have a lot to lose? Is there anything you regret or wished you had done differently? Where were you banded? You go girl....

Thanks for the encouragement, by the way you are a very pretty lady... Before I was diagnosed with Diabetes I too was Hypoglycemic and I can relate how you feel when your blodd sugar goes wacko... My BMI is not as high as yours but I feel so many side effects of the extra weight. I also want to be healthy and be able to play with my kids... I do a lot of horseback riding and now that I am heavier it is one heck of a job to swing myself up on my horse... Not to mention how out of breath I get just riding around the arena....
