    when did you feel restriction?

It took me about 8 fills and 8 months to get to a place that felt right. It is frustrating to go so slow, but in the long run porbably better for the body. Good luck my friend it will be ok.

    Help!!

I was banded on 1/12/07 and have lost 48 lbs. I too feel that it is slow, but my md's are thrilled and my bp is down- I am on half of my meds- I am walking 4-5 times a week for l.5 miles and I feel good --as long as I stay away from white carbs I will lose fairly steadily--the minute I make bad food choices I stall out on my wt. loss and it takes me awhile to get back on track--old habits are hard to break. You are doing great and you are where you need to be too. Keep up the good work.
  5. I have told my family but few people at work. However, I am able to not have to eat with others which is a blessing. If people ask about my wt. I just say "eating less, walking more". Down the line when your band is tighter and you have the experience of not being able to eat at certain times of the day or with certain foods (which is different for all of us) it may be uncomfortable for you to be in a crowd, because those times are not predictable and can happen unexpectedly. If you can't change you work culture, meaning the lunch hour, then you are right all the attention will be on what you are eating;lossing etc. Good Luck, Aunt Em

    Very Frustrated

Hey you are not alone-- I had my surgery in Jan. too and have felt that my weight loss has been slow. I have had 3 fills and like you I feel restricted in the morning and sometimes at noon as well, but can eat in the evening without problem. Food choices are critical. I have found that if i eat protein, vegtables and fruit I lose, but if I eat any white carbs I gain instantly. At this moment I have lost about 37 lbs, but with all the effort I put in I feel like I should have lost more by now Anyway, now after my fill last week and my resolve to try to not eat white carbs the scale is starting to move again. Don't give up on yourself. You will figure out what you need to do for yourself to make this work. Best wishes. Aunt Em

    4th Fill Coming & FRUSTRATED!!

Thanks for sharing--this is what I have been experiencing as well. Some times I feel a restriction, but not most of the time and that does contribute to making bad food choices. I have now had three fills, was banded on 1/12/07 and have lost 32 lbs,( 9 before surgery) but again mostly because I am eating like I am on a diet. My nutritionist says that I should be eating what I want, but just less of it. Anyway I needed to read this today because it is frustrating and because it is all so new I haven't a clue as to whether it is normal either.!!! Thanks for your courage.

Hi Gigi, sounds like you are doing great. I went in for my first fill about a week before I was scheduled to because I had no restriction and was having to exert much self control. That was about 10 days ago, now I am going back this week because I am not feeling it is right yet. I can't wait, it is hard, relying on will power. Thanks for getting in touch--doing this is so much easier with support. I am so glad I found this website--having this procedure was one of the best decisions of my life. Hope you are feeling the same way. Talk to you again-Aunt Em

Thanks so much for sharing. I am so new I hope that I am replying correctly to you. I will start reading more "threads" so that I can start learning more as well. See you around and thanks again for sharing.
  11. Hi I had my surgery Jan 12 2007, had a rough start, but am doing great now. Have lost 25 lbs and feel great. Would love to talk about fills- had my first last week and did not get much of a restriction so will return next week and have a second one. Is this fairly normal?
