Hi, I'm late joining this group. Surgery on 2/18/13, as of today 6/10/13 I'm down 20 lbs. Feeling discouraged and frustrated. And advice. My goal is to get anywhere between 130-150. Is it supposed to go this slow or am I just really messing this whole thing up? Eat oatmeal for breakfast, lite lunch, and usually fish/chicken for dinner. No snacks, soda's, milkshakes. Also, any advice on scars? My surgeon said to use vitamin E oil....not working at all. Please share.

@Dave, heating pad, upper-body stretching, gax-ex, and if you have someone to rub your shoulders and upper back, that helps the most, especially a little elbow action. -

elwood posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On day 6, was recovering nicely, but now have some type of pain to the left of the incision. ..hurts when I take deep breaths, yawns, etc. Any advice what that could be. It's constant. Hoping I didn't over do it yesterday with my super mom attitude. -

Hey LB friends! Just had surgery 17 hours ago and WOW! Holy Moly Batman, Lol. I was so pumped and excited. The actual surgery went awesome, however, I have violently dry heaved 6 times, even on Zofran and it is causing unbelievably amount, causing multiple pain meds that help with pain, but doesn't help on an empty stomach. :-( So, its a vicious cycle. Must say that that part of this is just s big fat bummer, but I know it will only get better. They have strickly put me back on only ice chips once an hour, if lucky. Based on the dry heaving part (which feels worse than birth), does anyone have advice before the doctor comes to visit at 6 am? I some what want to until I get this under control...scared I may rip incision or cause slippage ones I get home without Zofran, promethezine and good pain meds. Anyone handle a violent recovery?

Hope the headache is gone. Use heating pad and gaxex for shoulder pain. Hope today was better.

On day 3. I'm mentally feel great. Positive attitude like "I got this". Still always feel the pain, but staying on scedule with pain meds, gax-ex, zofran, and xanax, so I'm doing ok. Think I may have over done it a little since I got home, just moving around and pittlling

So Mellz, how are you doing today?

Still getting easier and enjoying more variety. Pre-prepping individual oz and graphing keep me on track. Normal life is still taking getting use to. Went to go to a 50th birthday party and stopped by the store for more yogurt, and that over did it for me. Feeling some new pain to the left of my incision and felt 2 chest pains while at the store. Since I've been back home in pj's and heating pad, starting to feel better. That was the first unrecognizable incident since the surgery. Off to rest now. Good night and the rest of you stay focused on your goals. WE GOT THIS!

Hey, you got this. Keep a positive mind. It gets better everyday and you feel better each day. Small goals and baby steps. Be proud of where you are thus far! :-)

Hey Dave. When I get back to a computer, I will add you to me email. I want to start my on blog, so if I do, I'll let you know. Days 1-3 were simi rough, but very manageable. Mentally, I felt like I conquer the world. I'm staying strictly to my oz feeding scedule and to my medicine schedule. Taking this whole process one day at a time, stage by stage. Today I actually git outside and enjoyed a walk through the farm and watched the sun set from my front porch. Daily reality set back in with my husband returning to work and me being back on Mommy duty, but I also have family help. Biggest help for me to keep it all straight is having an organized note book of all material, fully stocked on each product from stage 1&2, keeping a small dry erase board around to scedule meds and track each oz of liquid consumed. Been stretching upper body and moving around to help with gas trapped in shoulders and chest. With all things considering, I feel amazing and still looking forward to this journey. You keep it up as well, Dave. Slowly, it gets better and is worth it.

It's day 3, so I'm excited about taking a shower and fixing myself up. Since the sun is shining, I may try to take a short walk. I still have a lot of recovering to do, but feeling awesome for getting to this pount. Loving my oz. Of broth, jello, and protein drink. Makes that 2 week diet worth it now. LOVE being on the "other side" now. Thanks for the support on here. I will try and post some pics as I progress. If anyone can advise me on my sideways profile pic, would really appreciate it! Picture I'm attaching now is my release from the hospital.
