Lol the nuva ring is a plastic ring that you insert in your vajayjay for three weeks and then you take it out after the third week. You dispose of it. During the week that it is out.......your period should come. Then after that 4th week is over you put a fresh ring back in. They are very handy and Planned Parenthood will alow you to get three at a time....and you have to store the extras in the fridge. I was on the nuva ring so long my period stopped coming all together until I stopped using the ring it came back after a month or so.

Things may change between the two of you. My life revolved around food and eating poorly, and I know I can't change the mindset of my friends but I can let it be known that I'm changing mine. Encourage your friends to do things that don't involve food like go to shows, movies, start a book club,

I understand completely...tomorrow morning is the day! It's my last weigh in and I speak with the surgeon and he makes his final decision on whether he is going to do the surgery. I hope all goes well.

You would just have to decide what's better for you. I'm terrible with remembering to take my pills so the nuva ring was cool. I wore it for three weeks and then removed it one week and then started over.

I was on the nuva ring for years....it is hormonal but I never gained any weight on it.

I haven't had the surgery yet but just being very overweight I have experienced BO despite my attempts at taking showers and being very clean I still have issues. I have found that using clinical strenth deodorant from Degree or Secret helps and if I put it under my breast, stomach and and in between my rolls I will stay fresh. I can't wait to not have to do this. Those clinical strenght deodorants are not cheap and I have to use so much I go through them so fast. I try to catch them on sale.

Is lap band a stepping stone to RNY?
MissNikki27 replied to cfranklin526's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What I have noticed is that some people who don't have much success with the lap band turn to rny. You really want to do all the research you can. When I first started this process I wanted the sleeve and then the lap band and now rny in which I was adamant on not getting initially. Many factors come into play when deciding what wls to get, behavior, existing medical issues, what your insurance will pay for etc. -
2years out and already gaining
MissNikki27 replied to aballew's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I agree...you just need to get re:motivated. You may want to get into a workout program at a gym or dvd program. Cut out the junk food and remember that you have come too far to go back. -
Welcome to the forums. June 20th will be here before you know it.

mamiof3kids.....life in itself is hard....and believe me being married is hard as well. Just trust in God...and remember that nothing is too hard for Him. Financial isses come and they go and some linger quite a bit but your job is to ensure that despite the odds you are still smiling. At the end of the day....you are still here. You are still breathing, I can tell that you are strong....just keep in mind that you can only change you. If you be the woman that God will have you to be....everything else will follow suit. Any anger he may have is his own. Just pray for him.

My first appointment with my surgeon
MissNikki27 replied to wannabeskinnyme's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you researched you surgeon to determine how long he has been doing the surgery, statistics like how many surgeries has he done, what surgeries is he an expert at? You may also want to ask about about post surgery care. It was very important for me to find a surgeon who has done over a thousand surgeries and has been doing wls surgery for many years. I also asked other patients about what after care is like. I didn't want to be a patient at a practice that was just in it to get my surgery money and then leave me out to dry. I know it's important for me to be able to go to a support group...which my DR's office has. The psych doctor and nutrionist there are great. and they don't make you feel like you are bothering them. The office staff in general are very knowledgable and helpful with the whole process. They have excellent follow up. -
I'm glad you put this up here...I'm generally a rule follower as well.....in regards to diet from the Dr and and when to workout and when not to. However, I never realized how important vitamins are. I have to take a b12 daily along with a multi vitamin and I forget sometimes...... I will remember this from now now on.

What to pack for hospital?
MissNikki27 replied to ireland's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
pjs, reading material, cell phone, your own toiletries, comfortable loose clothing to wear home, -
finally got to a point where I know when to stop eating....I eat to live....I don't live to eat anymore.
-
I'm not a big breakfast person but I know that I need to start eating properly. What do you eat for breakfast to ensure energy throughout the day. I'm not too huge on protein shakes or drinks. I've tried muscle milk which wasn't horrible and a fruit punch drink from walmart, and also ISOPURE....but I'm not sure these are things that I'm not to be able to drink regularly. I haven't had my surgery yet but I figured I might as well get used to life after surgery now....so I'm not in for a shock later.

I'm a pre-op anemic
MissNikki27 replied to wannabheathy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am anemic too. I have been for quite some time.....sometimes I'm so low I am prescribed iron tablets. I wouldn't worry too much about it. My sister gets injections and has to take some liquid meds for iron. My daughters usually come up a little low too....so we are all definitely lacking something in our diet. -
That is still great success....maybe you need to increase your exercise or change it up. Sounds like you hit a plateau.

What to Expect - First Appointment!
MissNikki27 replied to SarahBeth's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I went in for my first appointment they took my vitals and weight, just like at a physical. Then they had me take an EKG test....then I met with the APRN who went over all the options for wls. When I told her what surgery I wanted she told me the process that my insurance company requires and then set me up with the psyc doc and the nutritionist. It was very simple. -
Discouraged ...

Oh a bowel movement can cause you to retain weight....is that because of the waste just sitting there or there more to it? -
