    Surgery Scheduled for March

I was banded on 3-4-13 and have lost 20-21 lbs. The scale has been verrrrrry stingy the last month! I feel like I am on my regular diet plan - protein shakes and light meals. I am working out again and my body is changing but I feel little restriction despite a fill. Before surgery, the nutritionist said I should not be able to eat a whole sandwich. I am quite sure I could but I haven't let myself. I know there is restriction and I am eating less than before - I am just hoping to feel that magic "stop" point! Patience, I guess. It helps me to read y'all's stories and know that what I am experiencing is normal. He gave me a small first fill and I go back in 2 weeks. Maybe the magic happens then!!!!

    4 weeks post op

Well I'm 4 weeks post op and down 20 lbs since pre op weigh in. I usually get my Protein in shakes (muscle milk light) then a meal or two. I think I can eat to much and bet I will get a fill when I go in next week. For example I can eat a whole can of tuna plus crackers - I moisten it with low fat mayo and some mustard. I thought 2-4 oz was going to be my limit but that hasn't been the case My biggest take away during this time is to not drink during or after meals. Let the food stay where it is so u feel full longer! My energy has returned and I've started light exercising. So far so good!!!!!!!

    Surgery Scheduled for March

I'm :2 weeks post op and started mashies today. My nutritionist did not mention that I might gain when that happened but it makes sense so I am glad to see it addressed here. I have had an egg and some puréed veggie soup today and did fine. The single egg kept me full for a long time! I have noticed that I retain water because of high sodium in some of my liquids ( broth etc) so need to watch that. But I am down 15 since starting the 1 week pre op diet so clearly something is working!!!!!!

    March 2013 Surgery Dates?

I wanted to follow up here then I will move my posts over to the March bandsters! I am 2 weeks post op (band date March 4) and down 15 lbs! I started puréed foods today and had a soft egg and puréed vegetable soup. They are more filling than the liquids! I didn't feel a hunger pang until day 13 postoperative. Also, I have had virtually no pain and my scars are TINY! Couldn't be happier! This week will be a test as I travel to a work event for 4 days. That means preparing protein shakes in the airport and hotel, finding soup or tuna salad for meals, etc.. Will be a challenge but I'm up for it! Travel advice would be great. I have found that shaking my protein shakes instead of blending with ice reduces gas and bloating. So I'll be the lady with a shaker and a ziplock of powder walking around the convention halls

    March 2013 Surgery Dates?

Day 4 Hi all it is day 4 for me. Here are some updates - pain is minimal. I take prescription at night only and don't think I will need it tonight. Sleeping well on side and tummy even! Nap during the day but otherwise good. Not.hungry.at.all! Sipping soup and a shake plus sf Popsicles and yogurt. Can't hold much. Feel like I have an "air baby" in my tummy! Probably gas but not painful yet! I work from home so can move around when I want. Still very puffy and swollen from surgery. Aside from getting tired after being up and about I am really good! Even met a friend for lunch - she ate while I sipped tea! Of course I needed a nap after No horror stories here. It's all good! Follow up at dr in the morning Sorry so abrupt. I'm not a good typist on the iPad! Best wishes to my fellow march bandsters. Looking forward to watching my energy rise and the scale drop!

    March 2013 Surgery Dates?

Hi everyone, My surgery was yesterday at 10am. I was taken in almost immediately because the guy ahead of me ate over the weekend and had to cancel . Such a waste! But worked well for me.... Hospital staff was great. In the preop waiting I had a hospital gown called Bair Paws. They connect a hose to the paper gown and it fills with warm circulating air - awesome! Never had that! Was home by 330. I have 6 small punctures. Was thirsty more than hungry yesterday. Today not much of either! Just sipping water and having sf Popsicles. So far no gas or bloating. Pain is like the day after you do 1000 crunches! I do tire easily though. Took liquid Tylenol except Last night when i took the prescription to sleep. feeling good. Even laid on my stomach a bit today! First day of a new life! Going back to doc on Friday. Will keep y'all posted!
  7. I'm scheduled for 10am Monday and so excited! Have not cheated on the liquid pre op thus far but tummy is rumbling today. Trying everything y'all have posted. But I have to say, the gas and diarrhea are unbelievable! Does that get any better after surgery (not the gas, I understand it will continue)? Also, how soon after banding can I take a tub bath which is one of my great pleasures in life?!

    March 2013 Surgery Dates?

    I am March 4th - cant wait!!!!
  10. I am one week pre-op and had my husband take before pictures in the skimpiest two piece I own (long story about needing a suit right then and that was all they had). I know I am overweight. I know I need this surgery. But when I look down at my body or in the mirror I do not see the body I saw in those pictures! I am glad this is a "before" but really looking forward to some "afters". Pictures just don't lie!
