Hello. Being that my BMi is 39 and might or not be getting insurance approval, hopefully my doc will push it for me. My issue is as I'm in my six month phase and hopefully will get sleeved in June, should I be losing weight? I asked my surgeon and he said he wants me to start the good eating habits now , but his nurse told me since I a little under the 40 BMi that for insurance reasons I should drop the weight until I get approved. Very confused.......

I weighed as much as 420 back in 1988. Went as low as 240 a few years later, now about 290. I gave my doc a list of my weight ups and downs do we'll see

Am I ever going to be allowed to have coffee again after I'm sleeved?
-
I guess I will have to start weening off the coffee as the surgery date gets near. It going to be rough.

I should be getting sleeved in June. I know there is some things I need to start doing now. I can't get going, I still drink when I eat, I still eat bread and some sweets, I cut down in the pasta and potatoes, and do go to the gym, but the weight is up because the food is up. Am I screwing this up? I have an appointment with my surgeon on the 19th. Hes not going to be happy. Don't know what I am asking for here, maybe just some ideas to get me started

Thanks. I guess everyone reacts differently.

I am in the process of getting sleeved in may or June. Havent started the pre diet yet, I have heard from some sleevers that sometimes depression sets in after surgery because you can't eat all the things you loved. Any truth to this?

Hello. Just wondering if the Men in the 40;s to 50;s range are in the process of getting the sleeve or have It already. I am 49 , about 290, waiting to get sleeved around June. What your experience with this, bad and good. I know the women and Men having forma of weight loss, but womens oppinions are welcomed also.

Hello all. Brand new to the board. I am a soon to be a 49 year old male with a big decision. I have a great surgeon and going through the process of getting ready for surgery in May or June . Waiting on insurance , and going to support groups, etc. I once weighted 418 pounds back in the late eighties. I now weigh about 290. Sounds good But I was around 260 on weight watchers a couple of years back. The weight is creeping back as I get older. My surgeon is reconending the sleeve, But the lap band seems less dangerous. Ive heard all the stories about the high maintence of the band and the problems with It. But am cautious about the Long term sucess with the sleeve. Any info from the board would be greatly appreciated..

My doc is Dr cussatti. Very highly recomended. Hes the big honcho with the sleeve. My surgery wont be til June also -
Doing alot of research on the sleeve. Im in the process if waiting for insurance clearence. My surgery wont be til June . I was originally going to settle on getting the band, but now really thinking about the sleeve. On question. Since the sleeve is a newer operation than the bypass, any info on the Long term results if the sleeve. Like leakage or the fact that sleeve or Staples erode after years go by. Any answers?
