Today's just not a good day.

Its better to get some calories and nutrition into you then none at all! If you don't you might overeat when you start feeling better.
  2. Got to start full fluids today!

    Surgery Tomorrow!

Good luck, it will be here before you know it! I thought I would never make it to full fluids after five days of clear fluids, but the day has come tomorrow and I have never looked forward to tomato soup or a protein shake so bad! lol

    Any February 2013 Bandsters?

I am five days post-op today and am starting to get a little stir crazy.....I think I did way to much because I felt so much better, I am paying for it now with horrible gas pain and bloating in my stomach. I am allowed to start full fluids tomorrow, so no more clear fluids for me!! I stopped and got a powerade slushie at my local convenience store and that is holding me over. I can't believe that tomorrow will be six days! The time is flying by! I was hoping to get better prepared for the mushy and pureed stages so I welcome any suggestions as to what people have been eating!??

    scared! surgery soon.

Congratulations on making this decision!! And trust me, you will go through every emotion right up until you are put to sleep. But it is worth it!
  6. I have been a stomach sleeper all my life and am having a terrible time sleeping through the night on my back. I want to try to sleep on my stomach again but am terrified of doing something to my band, port or stitches. I have heard many different reasons as to when I should be allowed to sleep on my stomach again, I would love to hear from other stomach sleepers out there to see when you started sleeping better again.
  7. What about twisting or stretching getting in and out of bed, like off of my stomach?
  8. Hello, I was banded on Thursday Feb 21st and am currently crushing all the pain meds I am taking. I usually take biotin and three large vitamin capsules for hair loss because I tend to lose a lot of hair with weight loss. The vitamins for my hair taste awful even in the capsule so I am afraid to open them up and try to swallow what's inside. My question is, are most people able to swallow capsules once you have started to eat solid foods? If so, do they ever get stuck?

    Any February 2013 Bandsters?

Good luck tomorrow djsjipmom, we will be thinking about you!
  10. No, I on only allowed things that I can see my fingers through when holding a glass (is the way they described it). This is for just one more day though and then I can start protein shakes with my full Fluid diet. So I can suffer one more day I suppose?
  11. Can I ask where you found the chewable biotin, and how much the dose is?
  12. I am finding it hard to get protein in right now because I am on clear fluids only.....any suggestions?
  13. Well I made it through post-op day three! I felt a bit nauseous this morning, but after that passed I felt great!! I got to have a shower today and helped my son with his speech for school, I think I might have over done it a bit thought because I am hurting a lot right now. I think its mostly gas pain.....so I took some more gas-x. I am getting tired of clear fluids and would love to move on to full fluids, but am going to wait the two extra days that my surgeon suggests. How is everyone else doing?
  14. Thanks everyone for your replies, I hope that I am able to take them soon!
  15. I was able to get out of bed on my own today too Booyah! It was great to be independent again, but I don't know if I pushed myself too hard today, or if the gas is shifting because I am in a lot of pain right now, more than I have experienced since the surgery. I did have a hernia repair, and its my diaphragm that seems to hurt right now, so maybe that's it? I only have three incisions in a half moon shape at the top of my stomach, the incisions don't really hurt at all, just the inside that does. They haven't started bruising yet....so I don't' know if they will. I am already getting tired of clear fluids, but am not allowed to start on full fluids until Wednesday Gonna need a lot of support to make it till then! I am glad to hear everyone is fairing well, and am excited to have buddies from this point forward!
  16. My Dr suggested I take two weeks off, but I am a nurse and have to restrain patients on a regular basis so that won't be good for my incisions! My name is Kelly and I will look you up on facebook

    3 days Post Op Observations

I was banded on Thursday and feel much better this morning than yesterday. I also slept much better last night! I washed myself up this morning and I get to shower tomorrow, looking forward to that! I am so ready for these gas pains to work their way through me as they are the only thing causing me discomfort. I have been walking lots and stretching, so hopefully soon! I am glad everyone is doing well!
  18. Hi there, I was banded on the same day as you!! I am a 35 year old mother of a ten year old boy, my boyfriend is also being extremely supportive!! I would love to be your band buddy!!

    Any February 2013 Bandsters?

Well I made it to the other side!! I am a bandster!! I had my surgery at 9:45 this morning. I started to panic when they put the mask on my face, but fell asleep in no time, I was super groggy when I woke up, but that dissappated quickly. I am just a tiny bit sore at my incision sites, but the gas pain in my shoulder and neck can be unbearable at times. My boyfriend is being amazing, helping me walk around and massaging my shoulder, heating up my hot water bottle and crushing my pain meds. I don't know what I would do without him! I am finding myself super nauseous taking the pain meds on an empty stomach, so I have been taking gravol and ondansetron, but it isn't helping much and I am terrified of vomiting Did anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions? My surgeon only wants me drinking water today and can start on clear flavoured fluids and broth tomorrow. I am also having some trouble breating, I think this sends me into a bit of an anxiety attack and my breathing gets rapid.....I think I need to tell myself to smarten up! lol

    Any February 2013 Bandsters?

Well my big day is on Thursday, I am starting to get nervous.....but excited at the same time! I am so done with this pre-op diet and ready to move onto the post-op stage. The thing that worries me the most is not being able to sleep on my stomach and those dreaded gas pains! Congrats to all the banded members of February and the ones to come, I look forward to keeping in touch with your journies!!
  24. Hello everyone, I am being banded on the 21st of February, one of my favorite foods is sushi, am I going to have to swear off this food, or do you think I will be able to eat a few rolls after I'm healed (instead of the 24 rolls I used to be able to eat)!!??

    How to Sleep After...

How long until you were able to sleep on your stomach again? I am a stomach sleeper and that is what worries me the most!
