I love crispy air fried pork belly dipped in a vinegar/garlic/black pepper dip. I can't eat too much of it or I'll feel a little off hehe but I have had it off and on. Looks good! -

Great job! I know you went through some trying times with health issues , I hope you are past all that. -
Weightloss being noticed: dealing with comments from others?
Tomo replied to lily06's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It's been years but I just usually say thank you if it's positive. At times, I get negative comments like I look like a cancer patient so I better gain weight or I should gain a little weight because "you look older". The latter are always from family. My reply to the latter is "I'd really be healthy than have high blood pressure..." Like others, I don't give too much information if asked how I lost the weight, unless they can benefit from it. -

I'm post post post menopausal lol and I still have serious cravings for about a week. My appetite goes sky high, I feel like a bottomless pit during those times. Our bodies continue to go through hormonal changes even without a menstrual cycle. To manage this, I use a period tracker to stay prepared for these fluctuations. -

Over 3 yrs from revision (gerd) and I can eat about a cup of food comfortably. I always think I can eat the whole steak though but that feeling goes away after a few bites lol. I think protein will always be like that for me. So it really depends on what I eat. Either way, it's really fun & liberating to be able to experiment and eat all these delicious foods and focus on quality instead of quantity. -

Around the 4th month. I started with small toasts types to dip in hummus. Some breads are easier to eat than others. For example, sourdough is very easy for me versus other types. Maybe cause it's fermented. As @Arabesque said, it does fill you up fast though & can give you a heavy feeling. -

I really like the Sola bread. I haven't tried the multi grain though. My current favorite is the Seeded one. The Sweet oat one was my previous favorite. I hope you enjoy it as much as me. It's a very nice refreshing sandwich during the summer! -

I have been so addicted to these cucumber sandwiches! I use Sola bread (low-calorie bread), spread one serving of jalapeño cream cheese, and then layer it with sliced cucumber (I soak the slices in lemon juice, salt, and pepper to store in the fridge for whenever I want a sandwich). I also add sliced red onion, sprinkle it with black pepper, and finish it off with zero-calorie everything bagel spice. I always finish it. It's crazy good and I've never been into cucumber sandwiches at all lol. Less than 200 calories and pretty filling. I hope you're all doing good. Not sure why my images haven't been working from my app so I hope you guys could see the picture but it is just a sandwich lol. I had to use the browser on my phone instead of my app, I hope it works. -
I don't drink diet drinks per se but I love Bubly Grapefruit sparkling water. It’s a refreshing and tangy drink that combines the crisp taste of natural grapefruit with the effervescence of sparkling water. It contains no artificial sweeteners, no calories, and nothing unnatural. It helps keeps me hydrated. I'm kind of the paranoid type when it comes to artificial sweeteners because of the multiple studies showing despite being calorie-free, have shown that they can still interfere with weight management. So I prefer to stick with natural options.

Bypass surgery in a couple of day and panicking!
Tomo replied to Justarwaxx's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Congrats and I think you'll do just fine. I think you'll lose your weight and be successful. I was like you, I couldn't wait. I was so ready because it was so tough to live the way that I had been living for years beforehand. I had my fears just like everyone else, but I knew deep down this was my only chance to live a normal and healthy life. I had long given up on diets, pills... Etc. -

Happy Birthday! That cake is so cool -
I had severe acid reflux with the sleeve, and had to get a revision to bypass. Before that I had a few instances of GERD but nothing serious. So please seriously think about this because if you have the slightest history of GERD, You're risking having serious acid reflux in the future, and then having to go through a bypass revision just to stop it. Having been through both, it is a very similar recovery period. No side effects, for me at all after revision.

Made 130g air fried octopus calamari. Consisted of instant pot cooked octopus, rolled in breading: nutritional yeast, potato starch, soy sauce, olive oil, and fiesta spice. Total calories: 226 calories. I ate about 3/4 of it. -
Successful maintenance (and a cheeky before and after)
Tomo replied to Lilia_90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
"- Still have fun but track their calories and weight DAILY." This is me too. 1. What are your golden rules to successful maintenance? I've found that sticking to a monthly calorie average rather than a daily one gives me the flexibility I need. If I go over my limit for a week, I know I have time to balance it out. This approach prevents me from being too harsh on myself for one bad day. For instance, my goal for June is to maintain a daily average of 1550 calories. This method has been crucial for my success. In the past, focusing on daily or weekly limits led to self-criticism and was counterproductive. It took some time, but I’ve learned that this is a life long game. By being kinder to myself. I've made much more progress. Even naturally thin people overeat occasionally; the difference is they don't punish themselves or give up. 2. How did you manage the mental shift (navigating fear and uncertainty) while transitioning to maintenance? The shift for me came pretty naturally. I eased into it slow. I remember in the beginning that if I lost a pound or so that month I would adjust my calorie intake, small increments so I wouldn't get used to too high of calories. It's always a slippery slope when you have a history of overeating. I adjusted it month to month, until I got to the point that my weight was stable month to month. 3. How much indulgence do you actually allow yourself? I don't have any absolutes. I do try to eat healthy 80/20. I try to eat 5-8 servings a day of fruits and vegetables. -
Unexpected weight loss problems or almost problems.

Recap of positives and negatives one year after gastric surgery
Tomo replied to MarisAthena's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow. I concur with @ms.sss. You did get the short end of the stick. I had the sleeve for years and then I had a revision to RNY (~3 years) and I don't have any of those issues. In fact, I can't even think of any negatives. Except if I eat too fast, it may cause the foamies. I'm so sorry you're going through all that. I have no problem with my vitamins, I wear a MV patch and sometimes I'll take high ADEK chewable. My vitamin A was slightly low so that's why I started taking the high ADEK a few times a week. I also never heard of cold sores lower immunity and fungal infections... Etc. after WLS. I sure hope things and improve for you. -
I have quite a bit of miso soup with some soft tofu.

Share your favorite air fryer and instant pot recipes!
Tomo replied to NickelChip's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
4 months post-op I was really into cheese crisps. I would use all kinds of different cheese. One just has to put little piles (~2T) of shredded cheese on parchment paper, season them and air fry them 350°F until crispy. Then you could dip them in hummus or guacamole... Etc. -
Rapid gastric emptying. Possible treatment.
Tomo replied to ShoppGirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It sounds normal to me. Although I haven't had a gastric emptying test, I do get a little hungry after 2 hours. I usually eat every 2 to 3 hours as some of those above have mentioned. -
I don’t engage in formal exercise, but I fully embrace the concept that an active lifestyle is key to good health. I swear by the ‘one in, one out’ rule. It ensures I’m frequently on my feet. Instead of keeping everything within arm’s reach, I store items away, which prompts me to stand and retrieve them as needed. And it helps with clutter. [emoji3] Additionally, I use an the under-desk cycle, It allows me to stay active even while seated at my desk or watching TV. It keeps my legs moving and promotes circulation, I don't put it on high resistance, as I don't want to injure my knees, I don't break out in a sweat, It's easygoing but effective.
