  1. Hi. I guess I should've posted this question in the Revision Forum instead of the Gastric Bypass. So here it is again lol. I had a lap band and then revised to sleeve. Lost over 100 lbs with band and then 40 something more with sleeve. I have to have a revision due to gerd and other complications from my sleeve. Luckily, I did not lose any of my hair on either procedures listed above... And I know losing weight is much slower after each revision so maybe I'll be lucky again this time around. I was wondering if any of you lost your hair after revising from sleeve to bypass. Thank you in advance.
  2. I had a sleeve to bypass due to gerd. It feels exactly like the sleeve but I get full on a couple of ounces. I can eat spicy foods and can tolerate anything up to date. Fruit skins were tough for the first two months.
  3. Took the surgeon, one visit. After he submitted paperwork, it took my insurance about 3 weeks. I messaged you ^^

    Sandwiches and chips

Sandwiches in the future are possible but opt for the healthiest wraps or bread. For fries or "fried" foods, I always use my air fryer. For example, last night I made Mr. Tortilla pico de gallo flavor "chips" to eat with salsa. I used 2 tortilla, cut them up, air fried and ate with fresh salsa, total of 35 cals which included salsa. Sometimes I like putting cheese or another protein source on them.
  5. I have always been thinking about trying online therapy for emotional eating. Anybody have any experiences to share? Positive or negative. Like Cognitive behavioral therapy? Thanks in advance. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. I use my highest weight recorded for starting weight, then surgery weight for what I weighed at the hospital before surgery. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. Had the revision a few days ago. I went from vsg to rny. From day one with the sleeve, I was hungry. I don't know why. From beginning to end, the most I could eat was 10 oz with my sleeve, and I still lost weight but I remember it being a struggle to keep under 1200 cal. So with the RNY, the recovery pain isn't much different than the sleeve. Every pain was doable. I didn't feel nauseous, never threw up when I was in the hospital. I do feel like I did 1000 sit-ups. GasX helped a lot. I felt like I could've walked out of the hospital that evening but I had to stay overnight (due to insurance). I walked out of there at 11 am the next day. It's been 4 days, and I'm not hungry at all. The two days of clear liquid for pre-op was difficult, but now 4 days post-op RNY there is zero hunger. It's a new feeling for me. Some notes for the curious: I had a urinary catheter while asleep. My revision took less than 1.5hrs. I had a serious dry mouth and a sore throat that made me want to eat more ice chips and drink more water, which is good. No nausea, I took Aprepitant 40mg capsule two hours before. That helps with post-op nausea and vomiting. If any of you have any questions, please just ask and I will share my experience.
  8. Unfortunately, yes. I never had reflux before that. That is why my surgeon told me I had to get a revision. Not everyone gets reflux from sleeve but I don't know the percentage who does. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. No. I never experienced that. My first few weeks, moderate to severe constipation. Now at over 2.5 months, normal with slight constipation. Maybe ask your team/surgeon.
  10. I am 61. I just had revision VSG to RNY in August. Easy recovery, feeling very good. Ask any questions. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app

    I need cofffeeeee NOW!

I had no coffee restrictions at anytime.
  12. Yeah, if you don't have any of the other classic symptoms, you probably don't have it anyway. That is terrible they never respond. 😢
  13. Yeah, I don't think everyone gets the same symptoms. I only had it in the beginning. Metallic mouth can be caused by a lot of other things too. Here is the gerd one: https://metaqil.com/gerd-and-metallic-taste/ Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app
  14. Yes, I would be. I interviewed my surgeon on his ability and how comfortable he was in revision surgery. One can never be too careful. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app
  15. Had that when I first got gerd. It is one of the symptoms I believe. Talk to your team if you keep experiencing it. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. Good advice on this thread already but throwing in something that has helped me. I bought a mini Air fryer and it has really helped me with my cravings for fried food. I have a thing for crispy so I use it for so many things. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Chest pain after unfill

Had a band for several years. Successful weight loss but later it embedded into my esophagus caused all kinds of problems. I was forced to remove it. The night cough and acid was the beginning of gerd/esophagitis. Perhaps call your team, and get a barium swallow to look at your band just to make sure you are safe from serious issues. 18. It has been 13 years since I began my journey with many ups and downs, failures and victories... And it is still fresh in my mind how it felt then and sometimes now to have no control over food. I am thankful for having the opportunities that I have had to help me. Even losing 1 lb. a month, I am happy that I am not gaining 10. Better to research on ways I can improve emotionally, mentally, physically to take care of myself in order to beat this monster problem for me that had plagued me my entire life, obesity. I think too high of expectations on WLS can cause many people to fail or worse, depression. Sent from my SM-N986U using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. Same. Same. 😅 I didn't have a problem of eating slow in weeks three to five but now that I no longer get foamies... Etc. due to healing, I'm getting bad again. Today's lunch took 15 minutes, and I felt that I chewed a lot but obviously, I didn't make the 30 minutes. 😆I will try again with putting the fork down.. Etc. and the tips on this thread.
  20. Surgeon approval is generally easy, but insurance approval (at least for me) came with complications such as Gerd/Esophagitis. I would seek a second opinion. There are surgeons that only do sleeve and there are those that are comfortable with revisions, RNY, DS... Etc. Good luck.
  21. I was just thinking about this thread. I had my revision to RNY due to gerd in August. Sounds like you are doing really well to me. To me, it's not race, especially if you are eating healthy and exercising, making the shift from poor habits to healthy self-caring eating habits (mentally, emotionally and physically). Generally speaking, to lose 4 lbs. a week you would have to have a calorie deficit of 2000 calories a day. Good job so far.
  22. I'm a little over 2 months post-op (VSG to RNY revision) and am averaging 676 calories a day. I am on the fence whether to up it or ride the honeymoon wave. I asked my surgeon on my first post-op appointment, and he said to stay around this calorie range to lose more weight, that's about all the information I got.
  23. I think you're doing really good. That's an incredible 4.2 lbs. loss per week.

    Tracking weight loss

Been using the app called Libra. It shows graphs, BMI, rate of weight loss per week, how many calories less you ate a day, goal vs actual... Etc.
  25. Genepro is endorsed and recommended by many medical facilities, including UCLA School of Medicine to all their bariatric patients. The science is sound but people believe whatever they want to believe. http://surgery.ucla.edu/workfiles/bariatrics/healthy-eating/UCLA-Post-Op-Diet-Updated-2021.pdf
