  1. I just read that some surgeons can do it endoscopically now. I always research it because I am always worried some day I will have a hiatal hernia because so many people I know have had that problem. Also worried about gallbladder but that's another story.
  2. When I got home, I did my normal chores which is about 4K steps a day. I did my usual cleaning and have my beloved cats to take care of. They didn't care if I had surgery or not. lol
  3. I had a revision from vsg to rny and I stayed one night, sent home the next morning. About 24 hours in total. I had asked for outpatient because a few surgeons I talked to while shopping around said they do it outpatient but the surgeon I ultimately chose required one night stay.

    Hummus and what?

I was allowed cheese very early on due to it being easy to chew and swallow.
  5. Thank you. thank you! All these years, I have often thought "Am I crazy? Is it only me? Why do I have those same type of days every month like before?" And Yes, yes, once I recognized them, I am always aware of it and it definitely helps manage it.

    Hummus and what?

In an air fryer or oven, can make cheddar cheese crisps in a few minutes (use parchment paper), and dip them in hummus. Yum! I ate those for forever lol.

    Eating/Bite Timer

I don't use it but I heard the app Baritastic has timers.

    Vaping pre op

No, not at all. It's anecdotal though since I can only speak for myself. I have had 3 major surgeries, and never had a problem. Just make sure to be nicotine free on your surgery day.

    I cheated - now what?

Post op day 4 is very early on. I knew someone who got seriously hurt for going off course. So, I usually try to remind everyone who goes off program in the early days that post op diets aren't about weightloss but safety. You don't want to end up with a leak like she did. It takes your stomach 6 to 8 weeks to heal. Stay safe. If no harm was done, as others said, live and learn.

    Blood pressure

I have low blood pressure too, also slow heart rate but not to the point of passing out. My surgeon suggested upping my salt intake a bit and enjoy my coffee if I like coffee (I do) since it raises bp and heart rate. Moderation for both, of course.

    Collagen and Biotin

Yes, for the past couple of years, I always take collagen (Verisol collagen bioactive peptides, recommended by ConsumerLabs.com) in my coffee for skin elasticity and health. I am in my sixties, and I go in for Botox (forehead) but my dermatologist always comments on how I do not have any wrinkles under my eyes, nasoblasial area, and how nice my skin is. Unfortunately, since I am at my lowest weight, I do look more haggard but there isn't much I can do with facial fat loss volume except for fillers or facelift. I opted for Sculptra since it has always given me a natural look, promotes collagen and helps with facial fat loss. It has helped a lot in the last few months. Hopefully, once my weight stabilizes, so will my skin.
  12. Although I haven't had a period for over a decade. There are 3 to 4 days that I have increased cravings and hunger, exactly like I did when I did have periods. The body is an interesting thing.

    Under Boob rash

My mom had a horrible rash there and it was due to shingles.
  14. This reminded me, something so critical for me through the years, and that is tracking calories, macros, weight. Oh how I wish I was a mindful eater but unfortunately, I am not. I simply have never trusted myself and to keep the weight off, I absolutely have to log everything. It helps me keep track of my 7-13 fruit/vegetable servings that I need daily, as well as my protein. On those bottomless hungry days, I like to look at what I ate because it helps me determine my physical vs head hunger too.

    Is this normal?!

Doesn't sound normal at all. Please seek care.
  16. I will try my best to answer your questions. They are good questions. I had the sleeve in 2015, I was revised to bypass due to gerd over a year ago. Years after the sleeve, my weight crept back up about 40 lbs but no where close to where I started which was over 320 lbs. Unfortunately, my appetite was never really supressed after the sleeve, but even years later, I could never eat a lot in one sitting. 10 ounces max no matter how hungry I was. I never ate around the sleeve either. That is, no milkshakes, donuts, cakes, slider foods that slide right through the sleeve. So the restriction was always there, thank goodness. But then, I got gerd. Gerd is a horrible thing, it gnaws at your stomach and you feel you have to put something in it constantly just so the pain subsides. No medication worked. It was frustrating, painful, no sleep either. Fast forward, I get an RNY and my severe gerd is finally gone. I still have silent reflux from time to time but it is not bad. Appetite is more suppressed compared to the sleeve but I could have happily went a lifetime with my sleeve and stay in a decent weight range if I didn't get gerd and had to revise. So, yes, appetite returns but if you can make the commitment to follow the basic rules of protein first, no drinking during meals, no slider foods, you will do good.
  17. I had a 10 day clear liquid diet. Clear fruit juices, like apple and white grape juice, broth, jello, lemonade. It was miserable. Early on, I just told myself not even think about food for 10 days. Others in my program, who were much heavier, had to be on it for 3 or 4 weeks. I guess I counted my blessings it was only for 10 days. Longest. 10. Days. Ever.
  18. My mother in law taste buds changed so she didn't crave smoking as much anymore. They usually want you nicotine free for the surgery. My vsg surgeon tested me for it, but my revision surgeon did not. Just like for any surgery, up to you if you want to quit after that. Lose weight, stop smoking as you know is the general consensus.
  19. My diuretic Triamterene HCTZ is the only pill I have not stopped because I have edema. I have no issues with it, been on it for years. They recently wanted to cut the dosage but when I tried, I bloated up fast again so I went back to full strength.
  20. That's strange. When I was talking to several doctors for a possible revision, not one asked or cared where I was sleeved.

    Egglife wraps

No, they don't clash at all. I think you can put anything in them, and it will be fine. Because they are just eggwhites, they are on the bland side so you have to season them up with whatever goes with what you are putting inside. They were good grilled. They have southwestern, everything bagel and a few other flavors too that I have been meaning to try. I remember stuffing them with cooked veggies, different types of meats, even ground cooked meat, lettuce and cheese. If I were a keto type of person (I am not), I would buy it regularly.

    Egglife wraps

They are good. I used them when I was cleared for eggs. I wrapped cheese in them at the time. Like eggwhites, you have to season them well or they will be bland. I have been meaning to try the flavored ones. They last 7 days in the fridge, decent shelf life.
  23. Chest, waist, hips pretty evenly all the way to almost goal weight. When I was close to goal (or past), I lost tons of face volume. Makes me look much older and drawn. I feel great but my face took a beating at the end. My face looked much better 20 to 30 lbs ago.

Will I ever be hungry again???

Sounds like the urge to eat and drink is there but you get nauseous when you do, right? If so, I would contact your doctor. A little nausea is normal but not every single time you eat or drink.
  25. I've been on Pantoprazole for over a year now. I'd like to get off of it. I'll mention it to my surgeon next visit. I was wondering what all of you have experienced. Did you have to take a PPI? How long did your surgeon keep you on PPI after RNY? What type of PPI are you on? Are any of you on famotidine or another antiacid instead? Have any of you switched from a PPI to H2 or OTC chews or ? Thanks so much!
