Food Before and After Photos

I do not have a sweet tooth per se but I recently discovered That's it Dark Chocolate Banana truffles. I eat 2 to 3 pieces for a snack. It really tastes good to me, not terribly sweet but not bitter because the banana is naturally sweet and are filling. -
This made me think about grazing vs snacks vs small meals. Now I think I may be doing regular small snacks a day or 6 small meals vs 3 large meals. In the end it's like 4 to 6x a day. It just feels like "grazing" because I eat more often than pre WLS. Makes me wonder.

I graze all day too. Since the beginning. Like @Ms.SSS said it's the total calories at the end of the day. For example, today I had 3 that's it dark chocolate truffles, later I had 100g watermelon, an hour or so later I had a cup of grapes. If i graze on the heavy side during the day, I will skip dinner or eat light low calorie filling snack instead... Etc. I give myself a lot of leeway, I go by average monthly calories so when if I go over average calories one week, I know I can make up for it the week after. I don't think it's a problem unless you are eating due to emotion and/or eating out of boredom. Even then, if one tracks, it makes one aware and helps keep the weight from creeping back while trying to figuring out things emotionally.

Since everybody is different here are my stats. I am currently a little over 1.5 years after revision to rny (gerd reasons). I am 5'3, in my 60s, no formal exercising, currently averaging around 1500 cal total calories, and weigh 107.7 lbs. I stayed about 800 cal till I got to my first basic goal weight (140 lbs). Then I upped it a little each month till my weight loss slowly leveled off. I was (and still am) slowly losing weight as I grapple with finding my maintenance calorie level. I do look at my net calories for interest but I do not go by net calories since the calories burned calculations are notoriously wrong.

So my better half wanted taco bell last night so I did my usual. I got a side of black beans 50 cal then added red onions and fat free sour cream 20 cal), put hot sauce in it and ate it as lettuce wraps. Less than 100 cal. -
I think you made a great case in your post. Tell her you love her, make your case as you did here, and tell her you need her support. Can show her the statistics of safety which are excellent concerning all wls. Safer than other types of surgeries and how many are performed a year. If she is still uncooperative, stay firm with your decision because it is your health at stake. If it causes true conflict then consider seeing a therapist together. Good luck, we're are rooting for you.

Dinner. Grilled mackerel with steamed rice with one umeboshi plum. Dipped the fish in black vinegar, garlic sauce. -
My mom and brother had lost all their teeth by 60s. They never had WLS. I had vsg in 2015, and RNY over a year and a half ago, I have no issues with problems with teeth at all.

I stayed one night, less than 24 hr after surgery, released first thing in the morning. I had asked if I could do it outpatient and my doctor said no. My sleeve was outpatient and many doctors in my area do outpatient RNY so I believe it is pretty common these days.

Congrats! How long was your hospital stay? I'm thinking of having it all done at once, if and when, i decide to do it. Thanks

Airfried spicy tofu. Extra firm tofu 180 cal), plus 25 cal (a combination of onion powder, garlic powder, chili powder, salt, black pepper, 1/2 tsp sesame oil, and 1/2 tsp of potato starch for coating. I ate half of the block. -
Too much sucrose gives me fast heart rate, a malaise feeling for about hour. It's not pleasant but it isn't that bad. So for example, 1/2 cup of cereal, no problem. One cup risks one hour of fast heart rate. I don't get any side effects with fructose, lactose or anything else. So no limit on fructose (can eat fruit all day), lactose, starches, fiber, protein or fats.

A lot of scary information
Tomo replied to LindsayT's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
100% worth it to me. My bypass was so complication/side effect free, I would do it once a year if I had to. lol. I love it that much. I played the numbers game when I got apprehensive before surgery. wLS, 1 out of 1000 patients (0.13%) risk of death vs gallbladder removal 1 out of 200 vs daily common aspirin more than 3K deaths a year. The risk in flying, 1 in 1.2M vs driving, 1 in 5000. Everything has risks. -

I use the multivitamin with iron patch too for many years. Forgot to add that . No issues with blood tests. -
Sleeve revision to bypass 2/6.
Tomo replied to nicholeweller's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My advice is go with the flow and enjoy the benefits. Living with minor gerd or none at all upped my quality of life 100-fold. For me, the recovery was easier, maybe because I knew what to expect this time around. Or maybe because my body reacted more strongly to having a large part of an organ removed versus the rny. Before you know it, it'll be over. My revision took less than a hour. Afterwards, I was surprised at how I didn't feel any different physically than when I had the sleeve. But I definitely had a new learning curve on how to tell when I am at roughly 80% full, that is when I stop eating (lifetime rule for me). There are different cues for sure as well as well as different side effects if you go one bite too many, or don't chew enough, eat something that your stomach does not agree with... Etc. Hope it goes well for you too. -
How fast do you dump? And water before and after meals
Tomo replied to bypass24jan2023's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I usually drink up until I eat but I don't drink at all during meals and I always wait at least 30 minutes after a meal. It is a lifetime rule, according to all my surgeons. I find this rule to be the most critical for me, even more than protein first. I don't know about anyone else but once I drink something, I almost always get hungry sooner. -
I use the paid version MFP for weekly calorie/macro goals, and free fitday website for average monthly calorie goals.

I like tart and refreshing drinks. I tried and liked the bariatricpal crangrape, it is yummy. I liked the pink lemonade one too. I haven't tried the others yet.

To me, the food tastes way better now. Before I used to be all about volume. Now it's so nice to chat, hang out and to savor the taste of great food one bite at a time. [emoji492]

Rheumatoid Arthritis - Revision to Bypass
Tomo replied to Lovesmuffins75's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had bypass after menopause. I had no issues at all. I don't have any experience with those meds so what Alex and the others said[emoji115]. -
I was told if they are tiny, I could take them right away. The larger ones, probably would probably have to be crushed or dissolved in liquid first. Items up to your comfort level, I think. Up to this day, I still have problem taking those huge supplements. I bought some ubiquinol online, a few months and when I saw them, I was like no way. I could take them but they are extremely uncomfortable.

Been using patches for many years. I switched from PatchMD to Patchaid a few years ago after PatchMD changed they formulation (nerfed the calcium content). Luckily patches work very well for me (verified by yearly blood tests).

Yes, very normal. I started getting my appetite back after 6 or 7 months, I don't really remember the exact time frame but it got increasingly difficult to maintain a low calorie diet. After that point, I had to increase my fruits and vegetables almost to the point of ridiculousness lol as well as other ways to stay on track. I still track and weigh everything. I never stopped. I always will but that is only because I can NOT trust myself to eat mindfully. Others can but I can not. We will always have our tool to keep us in check to some extent but for myself, I have to continue to follow the basic rules to stay successful. I don't ever want to go back to what I was back in 2008. AsArabesque said above that sometimes we have to really examine whether it is real or head hunger and what emotion is driving us at that given time if we are experiencing head hunger. I am glad she reminded me of that.

Air fried eggplant and onions (68 cal) with a side of 85g sesame pancake (130 cal). Used a black vinegar, soy sauce, garlic mixture to season the veggies. Ate it all.
