Have you ever been given a cracker at a fill???
medicrn replied to hely88's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Weird especially since we're not supposed to eat and drink at the same time. I can barely eat crackers anyway much less drink at same time. -
Tummy tuck and breast lift in less than 2 weeks- what do I need?
medicrn replied to sp1587's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I showered the next day. I have a built in seat in shower and would sit and wash. It wears you completely out so you will have to sit or rent a shower chair too. -

On yes you need to shower as soon as you feel like it the drains are sewn in with a stitch your not gonna pull them out and I would take hibiclense and wash my tubes near site to help prevent infection. I did use sweatpants but found the necklace easier. It's the only way I felt like I wouldn't pull them out. I would pin them to therapy bands then kinda tuck them in large panties to keep them from bouncing when walking. As far as bed my bed is tall too but I'm tall (5'11) so it was no prob. Now I did have to prop with lots of pillows. A lift chair would be good. -

For at least a month. A walker if you can get one is wonderful. You will walk like a hunched over old lady and it kills your back. Also granny panties, support bras, easy to slip on gowns and some type of necklace to wear that you can safety pin the drains to while walking and in the shower. I used physical therapy exercise bands that I tied into a necklace and it drys quick and you don't feel it in bed. Lots of pillows to sleep on. Liquid pain meds. Most important someone to help you at least 2 days because you will not be able to get out of bed alone. ESP with TT and boobs at same time. I personally wouldn't recommend that. Too much. You need arms for TT and tummy for arms for strength. I did mine two weeks apart. -
That was after my third full. That's why they progress you slow. You have to get used to it and learn how to eat.

I will never forget when I hit it after I had been on liquids for a few days and progressed to tuna. Didn't chew it enough and had that first stuck feel. Tried to "wash it down with water". BIG MISTAKE.

Also when you first hit that tightness it's weird And foreign so you have to get used to it. You HAVE to take the small bites and chew and sip not gulp. Yes it's normal to adjust different a few days later. If your able to get down all you say you can your prob in the green zone finally. Just take it slow an watch the lbs come off!!! ))

How soon until you can swallow pills??
medicrn replied to NurseKelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't swallow anything bigger than a Tylenol and was told not to. No gelcaps or capsules. Btw my doc prescribed me lorcet liquid which post op was wonderful. Chewable vitamins are great. -
In my opinion if your having that much trouble and can't hardly swallow meds (of course that depends on size of pills also) the last thing you need is another fill.

I absolutely love these people who say its a quick or easy fix. There fos! It's by far easy and is still a daily battle. It was quick for me but for many it's not and who gives crap if its quick? Sure still not easy. Who says it has to be lost slow? As long as we're healthier it's none of their freaking business. Sorry that's my rant. Just a sore subject. I've had a close friend comment and say its "the easy way out". Funny thing is the friend that said that is heavier than ever. Guess the hard way doesn't always work. Hmmmm.

would you do it again?
medicrn replied to maijageorge's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just read your comment about c section and flying. Yea if you've had a section then you will think this is a breeze pain wise. You will however be super tired and wear out quickly so yes you will need wheelchair transport in an airport. The flight shouldn't be bad. Car ride home wasn't bad after band. Much different than section and TT/boobs where I thought the car ride was gonna kill me. -
would you do it again?
medicrn replied to maijageorge's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
In a heartbeat but not because of the pain but because of the life, self esteem and health I have now. The pain was minimal. I've had a c section, Tummy tuck and breast lift with aug and lap band was very easy compared. You should only have 5 small incisions. Gas pain after was the worst. -
I'm trying these now. Will let y'all know how they turn out. Has anyone tried these? I'm excited. http://www.emilybites.com/2012/08/chicken-parmesan-meatloaf-muffins.html?m=1

Yes it is due to a nerve but is stimulated when certain abdominal organs are manipulated with or damaged. You can have left shoulder pain called "referred pain" when the liver is injured. I had left shoulder pain severely when I had a c section with my son and they flipped my uterus out to sew it up afterwards. I have left shoulder pain when I over eat with the band. All pain is stimulated with nerves. It's how we feel. Nerves are connected to various parts of the body from the central nervous system and what effects one part of the body can cause pain on a completely different part.

I would buy a couple pieces at a time and just wear them. Also I had a sis in law that had lap band about a year before me so hand me downs were great.

Tips and Tricks to Increase ENERGY level ?
medicrn replied to LadyMaggie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
How was b12 level? -
He thought they would have more of a crust

I had to wait 6 month for insurance to pay. During that time I was well educated my staff about lap band. My mother had hers done within 3 weeks being self pay. She hasn't done nearly as well as I have. We are both 4 and a half years out but she is still clueless about what she needs to eat or when she is too tight mostly because her surgeon (different from mine) doesn't have a good education program. Point is use this time to get all the education you can pre surgery. It's not a magic fix by any means.

One of my coworkers wives makes awesome chess squares that are 300 cals a small square. He brought them to us valentines day. I resisted. Awesome feeling.
-
When I started out I ate 1000 cal a day strictly. I lost 115 lbs in 7 months. Did not exercise a lot. Maybe 1-2 times a week.
-
Tight- not right.

I actually will either start to feel full or get an "un-comfortableness" like something is about get stuck. If I listen and actually stop eating I'm usually ok. If I take one too many bites usually it will come back up. I am very right right now though. You have to get to that green zone and learn to listen to it. I've listened and not listened too many times to count. It's a big big big learning process and were all different. Hiccups are a sign too that your either too full or something's near getting stuck.

Yep. If I over eat only once it hits its too Late. Have been miserable before. Drinking with a meal makes it worse.

To Tell or not To Tell my surgeon what went on tonight at support meeting-please advise
medicrn replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I would say something but more like "so I'm confused as to what I can eat"and go on to tell him what she said. That way it won't seem like tattle tailing. -
Uh can you say scam???
