Fabulous February Post-Op's
sassy14 replied to ArmyWife&Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone's progress sounds great! I had surgery 2/28/13. Started at 291, now at 234. 57 lbs! I can eat anything, but find I don't like fatty or sweet stuff much at all. I love my salad with a bit of oil and vinegar. Yum. Of course, quantities are small and it is tough to remember to stop eating at the first sign of fullness. My clothes are a joke! My bras are huge, my bathing suit was a bag. Bought a size 18 bathing suit. No 26 for me! The surgery was a breeze compared to my fears. No complication very little pain. So glad I had surgery! -

Go to your doctor! You likely have a bacterial infection secondary to cold. There are a lot of them going around and a course of antibiotics can make you better. -

I love my salads! I do fine with them and find the more fiber I have the better. -
I think it is. I am allowed to take maxalt which is in the same family as Imitrex.

That's what my neurologist told me! I have had a major reduction in migraines. Hope it continues!

A few sips will be all you can likely handle. I had surgery 2/28/13 and was allowed a few sips if wine 4 weeks post op as I had a party to go to. A few sips were plenty and wonderful.

Since surgery I have had only minor headaches--almost nothing. Prior to surgery, even having had Botox treatment for over a year, I would get one headache a week that would require prescription meds. Nine weeks post surgery and one headache and that was a day that I had not enough water and was stressed.

I have six tiny incisions. The incisions were no problem--no external stitches, just glue that dissolved off in a few weeks. -

What do you think is the most important factor when choosing a surgeon?

Experience and follow up care. I picked a doc who taught bariatric medicine and has a staff that is proactive and caring. 2 months post surgery and feeling great! Lost 44 lbs. -
I've been having a caffeineated latte every morning. Great way to get a cup of milk I me and a little wake up. I was cleared for one or two cups of coffee a day at 2 weeks post surgery.

Right with you all. I will be 8 weeks post surgery Thursday. Weight at beginning was 291. Now 247. I have gotten nice compliments from a few folks. I am doing better at saying "thank you". I don't feel like I look different. But last night I had a mental victory. My aunt passed away after a long illness last week and the funeral is tomorrow. I have not seen my cousins since my grandmothers funeral 10 years. I weighed about 270 then. I was trying on clothes last night and nothing fit! So I bought a dress from kohls in 2x. It looks nice and is not tight. My daughter who weighs 240 but has tight skin, left me some jeans and skirts in size 20. Omg! They fit! Tight like the 24s fit before surgery. It was eye opening. I do look different and I like it more than I thought. I never want to go back to seam busting size 24. So, here's what I think. Be kind to yourself. Your body is not failing you. I have never felt more full of energy-even though I am only sleeping 6 hours and eat 600-700 calories. I am not plagued with migraines. I feel like I did when I was in college nearly 40 years ago. -
What to take for headache/migraine?

Ask your doctor for a script for maxalt. It is not a NSAID and it is not time release. It works well. -

Pale / Clay Colored Poop

I had that until I added veggies and fruit. I think you should call to set your mind at ease, but for me it was normal. I am 7 weeks post surgery. -

According to my nut, no. For 6 ounces it has about 9 grams of sugar. You could add more greens or broccoli to reduce sugar. It is loaded with easily digestible Vitamins.

I have an ancient Acme juicer. I think there are some good ones at any big store.

Yes-- 1-2 carrots, 2 celery stalks, 1 apple, quarter of a lemon and a few strawberries. Really yummy and loaded with Vitamins and minerals. It makes 8-10 ounces. I use all organic veggies/fruit.

Here's my favorite: one large or two carrots, two stalks of celery, one apple, one quarter lemon, three or four strawberries. It makes 8-10 ounces and has about 100 calories for the whole thing. I drink it once a day and get more than 100 percent of vit a and c. And it's super yummy!

My nut is great with the juicing and feels it's a great way to get vitamins and fluid and it keeps me regular!!
