Fabulous February Post-Op's
sassy14 replied to ArmyWife&Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
During purée I made chicken tenders in crock pot with cream of mushroom soup--2 cans--and some fresh mushrooms and carrots. Cooked it for 5 hours on low. My family loved them over potatoes and I puréed mine in blender. Not bad. The world according to egg face blog has some great recipes for puréed foods. I also ate a lot if puréed soup. -

Can you eat soft food yet? I can't tolerate any of the shakes-- they make my face sweat and then I have to run to the bathroom. I do fine with plain milk, but not the shakes. I am getting a lot of protein from soft turkey meatballs, soft fish, chicken, hummus, custards. -

I am on soft foods and meatballs are allowed if they are cut in tiny pieces and moist. I am also allowed pot roast, dark meat chicken, baked fish and tuna, egg and chicken salad (no celery) with light mayo. Also well cooked veggies, scrambled egg with cheese, bananas, applesauce, smoothies, no sugar ice cream and custard, soups and yogurt. I will not choke down another protein drink. My surgery was 2/28 and today had a leak test and everything was good! Hope this helps! -

A recipe from egg face blog on the puréed food section for a pot roast. Omg! It was excellent. My family had it in-puréed and loved it. Also had a tablespoon of mashed potatoes. Yum yum yum! -

I found the recipe in the website but tweaked it: 2 cups 1percent milk 2 eggs 1/4 cup trivia blend 2 t vanilla Heat milk in micro 3 minutes. Meanwhile whisk eggs. Add trivia to eggs. While whisking eggs, add some hot milk then whisk into milk. Add vanilla. Put 7 or 8 small ramekins in a 9 x13 pan. Fill ramekins with custard. Pour a quart of hot water in pan. Bake 325 Check at 30 minutes to see if done. Chill and eat. -

It's really interesting how different each practice is! You should mention the cravings to your nutritionist. I was told I could have unsweetened applesauce if I felt weak or hungry. -

It's been interesting! I am sick of liquids and I hate Protein shakes. Yuck. I was much better when I could have coffee. I love my decaf lattes which agree with my stomach. On Thursday I progress to puréed food--can't wait. Right now I am craving a scrambled egg and a mashed potato. Oddly, I seem to have lost my sweet tooth. Hope it stays away. I think the coffee, mostly warmed skim milk with a bit of decaf, is getting me through. How are you doing? -

I have had very little pain. Surgery 2/28 and home 3/2 and last pain med was 3/3. In past, I had 2 c-sections and a complicated gall bladder removal 26 years ago. I was loaded with adhesions from old surgery, so much that it took doc 5 hours to do surgery. It was laparoscopic. I had the best surgeon. He is one hour from my home, and even tho there are centers of excellence 5 minutes from my home, I chose him because he is excellent. Dr Andrei in Livingston NJ is my hero! -
