I Know This Has Been Discussed Before, But.....
50for50 replied to Sherlock1969's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Not to worry - we all get there at different points. I just had my 9th fill - under fluoroscope this time! What an amazing difference! For 10 months I've lost fairly steadily but never "felt" my band. Now after 3-5 bites I get a feeling in my chest that says YOU ARE DONE! Assuming some of it is still swelling, but I think this May be green for me. Still adjusting to this new feeling! -
I love my flex! Have had it since June. It is an awesome reminder everyday to get moving. A friend has the jawbone but I'm unfamiliar the differences, sorry.

Love my flex! Went to the gym like normal but my flex motivated me to go walk around the mall later today to meet my step goal! -
51 lbs down today in just short of 5 months. When I joined LBT the night prior to my surgery, I picked my screen name based on the fact I'd have thought this journey a success if I just lost 50 lbs. Now I have done that and also hit ONEDERLAND! Thanks so much for the support from those before me - I hope to pay it forward for others. Life is good with the band...

May be too late, but Aetna denied me twice also. My doctor requested a "peer to peer" review. Before the date of this review, Aetna reversed their decision inexplicably. Could be worth looking into.

Did anyone NOT have to do the preop diet?
50for50 replied to Wanna-Be-Healthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
None required for me. My Dr, who spent a lot of time with me in the 10 months I saw him prior to surgery, told me he doesn't require it of patients that he feels can be compliant with the diet following surgery -

I, too had a leg DVT caused by a torn meniscus. Mine was last Sept. and I immediately went on Coumadin. I had my band surgery the following February while I was still on it. I know you are overwhelmed right now, as I was initially but I honestly didn't find it hard to manage while losing the weight. I just recently was taken off of it as the clot had dissipated. The biggest thing to remember is consistency in your diet. Just get familiar with the foods high in Vitamin K and eat minimal amounts of them consistently. I had to have a blood test every week for months. Most weeks required a dosage change to keep my levels in the right range - no big deal. In relation to the band, the only affect was I would bleed much more than normal from a fill! We just used 2 bandages and my stomach would be bruised for a week afterwards. I was in the early stages of losing so I did not drink alcohol then, but prior to WLS I was okay with drinking in moderation. My advice would be to relax for a couple of weeks and feel sad about the DVT. Mine completely ruined my 50th Bday party celebration plans! After that, get back on track and just be more careful about your diet than you were even before. 3 months is not that long - I took them for over 8 months partly because I chose too. You will do fine.

NSV for me today! Putting laundry away and on a whim tried on my 14 yr old daughter's jeans. They fit! She's 2 inches taller and 25 lbs lighter-no idea how that works... I'll never tell her though. She'd be HORRIFIED (eye roll!)

Great job - an inspiration to all of us!

Great! It gets easier each week. I spent the downtime organizing my kitchen and planning how I was going to handle lunch at work, socializing, etc.. Looking back now I would have taken a few more days'
