Me too Manda Mom! Stuck since Monday! I'm hoping for a change tomorrow but in the meantime I've rediscovered a shirt and pants that look fine now that did not pre-surgery! Congrats Florida Sunshine! I know how long you were waiting for this!

Hey Ladies! What is your Dr telling you about exercise? I've been a routine gym goer for years but at surgery he told me no gym for 4 weeks. I was going to ask him to reconsider that yesterday but forgot!

Hi Ladies! Glad everyone is feeling better and better! Dr called today and wanted to do my follow up this AM instead of Wed. Incisions all good and down 14lbs since surgery (2/1 - no pre op diet). Best of all got the Green Light for Stage 3 -soft foods. Tried 2 scrambled eggs for dinner and definitely felt a point of "don't eat anymore" about 3/4 of the way through. Dr scheduled a fill for 2 weeks from now - does any of this progression sound like others? I was prepared for full liquids longer, but am happy.

I can't believe the differences in diets Dr. To Dr! I am so jealous of Danielle's dinner! I am doing soup only for dinner - cream of mushroom (strained) with protein powder. It was better than Tomato Soup but that's not saying a lot ... I feel my Dr. Would be upset with me if I was non-compliant so I've followed his directions - although another week makes me worried. Lost 11 lbs this week which was somewhat shocking but welcome. I didn't have a pre-op diet so I guess I'm feeling the frustration now! Hope you all have a good weekend-my 1st social situation tomorrow night so I'm a bit nervous...

Newly Post Ops & Doubts
50for50 replied to Redesigned_Curves's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded 2/1 and have lost 11 lbs this week! I know of course that this pace will REALLY slow down but I have a question for those more experienced. A dear friend who I confided in about my surgery related that several of her friends had "surgery" and were initially very happy with the results. However, over time they all reverted back to their original way of eating and "stretched out their stomachs", returning to pre-surgical weight. I am confused as to how this is even possible? I certainly understand if you exist on high calorie "slider food" and deliberately try to eat around the restriction the band provides, but this just seems so willful and possibly painful that I can't imagine it. Is this as prevalent as my friend portrayed it? I thought this was more of an issue with gastric bypass (Carnie Wilson) but that the adjustability of the band would prevent much of this. Am I wrong? -
Anyone starting to lose it when looking at soup? I need some food ideas for full liquids phase! Cream of Wheat is not working for me - diarrhea every time. Lunch I'm eating Greek yogurt (added some honey because its nasty on its own) and dinner is Soup. Looks like protein shake is it for breakfast. Any other ideas as I'm getting the protein in by adding powder but barely breaking 500 calories a day.

Hi all! I was banded 2/1 so this is Day 6 for me and happy to say it finally feels like the gas pain in my shoulder is gone! Still have absolutely no hunger and have to force myself to eat regular "meals" so I establish good habits. I feel strange pains every now and then but just think it's the settling of the band. My superglue is starting to pull a little, but the incisions seem to be healing and the bruising is turning yellow now. Back to work tomorrow. Some of the best advise I had was initially given by the Nurse Practitioner at my Surgeon's office who said to try and take a week off and not rush it - that the mental healing was just as important as the physical. I've tried to take this time to visualize situations moving forward so I'm prepared. Hoping this works! Feel good all!

Hi Florida. I bought the chewable "Celebrate" Bariatric vitamins on Amazon. Almost dissolve when you put them in your mouth. No problems at all - like the orange ones and it was the brand recommended by my Dr. Hope you are doing well. I'm still home for 2 days so trying to work on little projects to keep busy. Adjustment to this will take a while...

Good luck to Feb 1 Surgeries!!

Smell of Super Bowl food not tempting at all. Got 8oz of Muscle Milk Lite down between best and lunch. Feel like I could be done for the day. How is everyone's pain levels? My gas pain is sharp, on my left shoulder but decreasing in area. Hope it's gone tomorrow. Took a shower today. The bruising around the incisions is pretty hideous looking. Not going back to work for a few days. I scheduled the time off in case, and even though I feel better I want to go slow and adjust mentally too. Hope you are all having good days! -

So glad everyone seems to be doing well so far! I needed pain meds about 6am but was afraid to take them on an empty stomach so I ate 1/2 of a SF jello. Seemed fine. This morning I mixed a scoop of unflavored protein powder with light apple juice. Strange consistency, but got about 10 oz down. Anyone else "eating" anything? -

Home! Feeling pretty good especially with the codeine... I has hiatal hernia repair too but still discharged. Enjoy the night in the hospital, sometimes nice to be waited on, even like this. Did any of you today get "filled"? My band is empty; wondering if that's just how my Dr does it? -
I am new to this board but feel like I'm in the right place! My banding is tomorrow at 8:30am! I am excited but nervous. Had to take a Xanax each day this week just to keep the bad thoughts away. My Dr required absolutely no pre-op diet. I was nervous about that, but found mention of others with similar situations on this forum. I've tried several shakes/protein powders just so I know what to expect. Like most, I've spent years gaining and losing the same 50 lbs. As my 50th Bday approached I decided to finally do something about it. After 4 months of a medically supervised program, Aetna rejected the procedure TWICE! Inexplicably, they reversed prior to a scheduled peer to peer review last November. My starting weight is 245 and I'd like to see 160 as a goal. Not sure if that's even realistic though! My nervousness revolves about post op life. My husband and I own a Liquor store/Deli and catering business. I'm surrounded by food all day-buying it, menu development, product testing. My concern is not wanting to share my surgical choice - it's just not how I'm wired. I've told only family and 2 friends and wish I hadn't told 1 or 2 of those! Sorry to ramble - just looking for some encouragement that I've made the right choice and that in 12 hours some of my anxiety will be resolved.

Thanks all for the encouragement! All went great. Home in bed and in surprisingly little discomfort. I have the "large" band, but no fill. Is this normal? Will I feel any restriction at all due to the band alone?
