Sudden ability to eat more... A lot more
unbroken40 replied to Luka Beth's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What is the "pouch test"... I had an un-fill completely for my one year check. I was in the green zone prior to it. Now I feel like I am starting all over again. It is discouraging. Any thoughts? I have already had to go for 2 fills and still am not feeling much restriction. -
I had a complete unfill because I tested positive for h pylori. I now have to get an EGD done to make sure I don't have stomach damage. How do I gain 5 lbs in 3 days. Yes, eating like the band was full.... now I am a nervous wreck worrying about every bit of food that goes in my mouth. I will be unfilled for a month. Sigh...

Due to my altitude issue my doctor recommended an unfill. He said it was two tear drops. I sure hope this does not set me back. I have been losing steadily and I want that to continue. Has anyone had an "unfill" I have been in a lot of pain since. Not sure if that's normal?? Feels like I was punched in the stomach.

I had a fill over a month ago. Went on a trip to a high altitude and have not been able to eat much ever since. Does anyone know if altitude can cause issues. I can't even eat a half cup of food right now. Ugh...

I have noticed if I drink more than two vodka drinks I can't eat the next day. My band seems really tight.

I am wondering why I have had left shoulder pain that goes into my neck after I eat sometimes? This is something new to me?? Help!!

I have battled hypothyroid disease for 15 years. Weight being an issue since it went to crap. Just saw my endocrinologist yesterday and my levels are ALL screwed up since I have dropped 36 pounds. I am so over these roaf blocks. (pitty party) anyway... anyone else having issues with not losing and thyroid being dumb??? SO FREAKING FRUSTRATED. ????

I was given a sample today. I am going to try it for breakfast tomorrow. I have slowed down with my weight loss and was wondering if Shakeology would help? Thoughts??

Didnt love it. The flavor was not the best. Someone said the chocolate is better. Not sure if its that good for $130 a month...

I had my fill and have been on liquids such as broth and tomato soups for weeks. No solids were going down with ease. I have not lost but 2 pounds. I figured if I was limited to food I would be losing something. I have continued to work out despite my lack of energy. It is very discouraging to not have the caloric intake and still not losing much. Last night was my first night eating a solid food. Ugh..... so discouraged....

Yes I chew sometimes until my jaw hurts. Haha!! I found something at Walmart called New Whey Protein. 42g of protein and I mix it with my water. Different flavors to choose from. Its the only way I have been getting all my protein in.

I was able to mush up some meatloaf and it was okay as long as I chewed it. I didnt quite get a half cup of meat in.

I am on my 3rd fill and have 6cc in my band. I am unable to tolerate anything other than mushy and liquids. Some have said the band is swollen after a fill or with weather change. I just don't want to unfill when my fills cost me $265 each time. Not covered by my insurance. Help!!

Were you losing weight during those two weeks or did your body go into starvation mode? That is my fear with limited calorie intake.

Unfill setting me back about 6 months :-(

I am wondering if it is the wine. The first time I drank 3 glasses of wine I could not eat the entire day the next day. Some say the sugar alcohols cause the swelling of the band. I really don't want to try again and find out. -
I am wondering the same thing. I just got my fill Saturday. I am only comfortable eating chicken broth and a little bit of oatmeal. I just worry I will get an unfill and be hungry like I was before.

I was banded Oct. 10th. I have had 3 fills. My last fill was 12-22. I did not go for a fill in January because I felt good and feel restriction. I am now a bit confused. Some days I can eaty half cup food for my meals just fine. Some days I take a bite of food and that's it. Does the band have its oen little mind and tightens and loosens when it wants to? Today I took one bite of my cottage cheese and it felt stuck. I am juat not sure....

Thank you for this info so far. It really helps to hear the advice/experiences.

I am due for a 3rd fill this Saturday. I have days that I feel satisfied from a half cup to a cup of food and days that I want to keep eating and don't seem to be satisfied. I am wondering if I should go through with the next fill? I don't like feeling so hungry. I have kept protein first...ugh....help!!

Does anyone know how much a small band holds? I had my first fill and it was 3cc. I was told I have a #2 band. Not sure what that means or how much it holds.

Never Full, Constantly Hungry
unbroken40 replied to Katharine83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Oct. 11th. I have had one fill and I am always hungry. I was told to be patient and consume more protein. I have started doing 7 small meals a day. I am not as hungry and I am losing weight. I have started cutting up protein bars and I put them in a zip lock bag. If I start feeling hungry I take a couple small pieces. I am learning that the small meals are helping. -
I had my first fill a week ago. 3cc's. I have been hungry all week even though I have tried to eat 6 to 7 times a day. I didn't expect to be in the green right away but didn't expect to be this hungry. Not to mention the scale is not moving. Ugh...

Lapband for my brain!
unbroken40 replied to Watchershrink83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery a day before you. I have been very hungry. The one thing that is helping is to have small snacks with me all the time. I eat the Think Thin protein bars. I will cut those up in cubes and just have a few pieces when I grt hungry. Yogurt with wheat bran sprinkled keeps me full longer. Right now I don't really like to be around people eating because I am trying to handle my hunger. I gety first fill the 16th and I hope to feel more satisfied! -
I had my surgery Oct.10th and I won't have a fill until Nov. 16th. I have lost 13lbs. But weight loss is not my focus right now as much as healing. I have been so hungry and I have no energy. This is the worst part. Please tell me I will feel some relief after the fill. Ugh... this is frustrating...

Feeling discouraged...
unbroken40 replied to unbroken40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the responses. I didn't think the fill would make me feel better. I was just hoping it will make me have the satisfied feeling and not the hungry grumbles I feel everyday. I am doing everything I am told. It is true. Everyone is different. I appreciate the information.
