Most of my decadent food went I to the take out box and the tossed it in the trash when the full reality set in( AFTER I left Panera, of course!)

Thanks! And you're right-- guilt will only make it worse. I'll look forward to pureeing food on Monday instead of looking back at that delicious salad! Lol!
-
I'm on liquids for three weeks! I'm so glad it's not four! On Monday I graduate to purée for one week then mushy for one week. Luckily, I had no pre-op restrictions. I think it's hard because my 13 year old wants to eat constantly. I'm trying to make him food that I don't like!
-
The guilt alone will keep me on the straight and narrow! Ugh! My big lesson is to stay out of restaurants until I can safely eat regular food. My son will have to deal with it for a few more weeks. I feel comfortable with being able to control portions. I think I justified this because I've read of others who had surgery when I did or even after me who are on real food already.... It made me hungry!

This was not in the brochure

Have you guys run into any medical situations where the fact that you are banded complicated or altered your treatment? I ask because I told a friend who is PA in and Emergency Room that I was getting banded and he was totally against it. He said that people with bands present doctors with difficulty. Any value to that?

Question for the veterans:
koolkel replied to koolkel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you! I have been trying to think of situations where the band would make something complicated or impossible. I imagine certain medications will be difficult ( large pills.) -
I'm not sure what it feels like but I was banded on 2/19 and I have soreness, sharp pain or a full ache at various places around my port incision.
-
Hi everyone! I have what may be a really dumb question but.... I had my band places on 2/19/13 and there is no fill in it. I'm following the liquid diet but I have to say, I feel absolutely nothing different from before surgery. I can gulp and gulp without a burp or any sort of discomfort. My question is: does this mean I am likely to need multiple fills before I feel restricted?

Thanks for responding Holly Dolly. I guess I knew that but I'm becoming fearful that I won't feel a restriction for many months and hence eat poorly. Just knowing that I CAN makes me so tempted to eat something. My cravings are for healthy foods like salad and grilled chicken( okay, and feta cheese! Lol)

Losing motivation
koolkel replied to ireallywannabthin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just keep going!!! I'm only 2 and a half weeks into my new life and while I don't see much weight loss, I feel fabulous! My energy, my sleep, my attitude are all better. My scale says I've lost 20lbs but I'm not buying it!( I didn't own a scale before surgery so I'm waiting for my doc's scale to verify!) We chose to be banded because we were ready to make the commitment. It sucks to have an off week but look at the overall picture-- you are doing GREAT!! Every pound I lose is a kind I didn't lose three weeks ago and for that I am thankful!! -
I had my band placed 2/19 and the only pre-op requirement was clear liquids the day before. I had no other diet restrictions whatsoever! Oh! They had me bathe with antibacterial soap for two weeks prior to surgery to reduce the risk of infection. So your sounds normal to me!

koolkel replied to Destined*Lady*D's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I simply LOVE when I go to a cookout and sit in one of those resin/plastic chairs and then get up to do something and the whole chair gets up with me and I need help removing it from my butt. Yeah-- good times! -
^^^ I forgot an important ingredient!! 1/4 cup sliced avocado

Oops!! I forgot to add a major ingredient! 1/4 cup of sliced avocado!! It makes it green and tasty!

I use unsweetened almond coconut milk-- it's heavenly! I just altered a weight watchers shake recipe for us bandsters and would like to share( of course I didn't measure much so you'll have to improvise) 1 cup almond coconut milk 2 scoops of vanilla Protein powder About a tbs of cheesecake sugar free pudding powder A good amount of pure mint extract One package of stevia Ice Blend it for about 4 minutes and enjoy what I'm calling " A Banded Shamrock" shake!

Any February 2013 Bandsters?

Slowly drinking a Protein shake helps, as well as making your own delicious chicken Soup and straining it for the broth. My dietitians advice was if you think you are hungry, eat 3-4oz of sugar free Jello and wait 20 minutes.
