    Sex?

    I think I waited about a week...
  2. I just left The doctor where I got my second fill. She intended to give me 1cc but my port "sucked up" another .5 !! Lol! I told her that's because we are HUNGRY!! I sipped my water and everything seems good, though I swear I can feel something different, even when not drinking. I feel a tightening in my chest. It's not uncomfortable at all, it's just an awareness.... Has anyone felt this way? My BIGGEST fear is being too tight-- my port is very tender and this second fill hurt pretty badly. I don't want anymore!
  3. Seems the tightness was temporary. I feel like myself now and will be on liquids for the rest of today.... Thanks for the advice!
  4. I have the same thing going on. I just left my doctor's office and she said that is a sure sign that I've eaten too much.

    Fill #2 on my way

Good luck! I just scheduled my second fill for tomorrow( I had one, 3cc in a 9cc band) and only noticed that I HAVE to chew a lot, I'm still raging with hunger most days. Here's to your fill!

    Lettuce intolerance?

Great idea with the shredded stuff, AND ordering lettuce free salads when dining out. I just made a salad with all veggies, fruit and grilled chicken at a salad bar and I don't miss the lettuce at all. I was expecting( dreading) the loss of sushi, but seems I can tolerate that just fine, so ill forego lettuce! Thanks everyone! I just made an appt for my second fill for tomorrow, so I'm hoping this incessant hunger subsides!

    Discomfort

I experienced this exact thing a few times. I called my doc and was told to take Miralax twice a day. I am taking it every morning in my coffee and everything is wonderful!

    Lettuce intolerance?

Hmmmm...maybe it's not the lettuce? I'm going to try again and see if I can pinpoint exactly what is happening.

    second fill

I had one fill( 3ccs in a 9cc band) and I'm still fighting near constant hunger. The only thing I noted is that I HAVE to eat slowly and CHEW or I get what I believe is "stuck." I had to bring up some food the other day( I think folks call it "slime." I was adequately disgusted and learned my lesson about eating fast!
  10. I had my first fill on Friday afternoon( 3cc in a 9cc band.) I had no swelling from the full and it wasn't painful much. Now I'm stuck trying to figure out if I have any restriction. I can drink( even gulp!) just like pre-fill. I did realize that I can NOT eat and talk on the phone at the same time because I when I did I felt a slight pressure( from not chewing properly.) Can anyone tell me how I will know if I am at the "sweet spot"?
  11. Thank you for responding! May I ask you a dumb question? Do you weigh a cup of food or use a measuring cup? I'm planning to test myself right now.
  12. I've lost about 30lbs and now weigh less than I have in at least 5 years--- but my mind just doesn't see it. A co-worker called me "shrinking woman" today and I told her she's NuTS. I guess it's all part of this journey....
  13. I get my first full tomorrow and my surgery was 2/19. So that's, what-- 7 weeks? Seems my surgeon is extra conservative. I don't mind so much because I am learning more every day. I feel like if I can limit myself now, without any restriction, then I am bound to be successful down the road.
  14. I make mine with unsweetened almond coconut milk( yes! They make a combination one, Blue Diamond brand) It's thinner than milk but tastes SO good. BUT if your doctor requires water you should follow her/his instructions.

    stuck bleeding

I'm afraid to eat bread too! I mentally prepared myself to live without it. I am glad you called your doctor( I can't believe they haven't called back yet!!) Please let us know how you make out.... Can you sip some warm tea?
  16. CONSTIPATION!!! So I've NEVER experienced constipation until my band and now I know how horrible it is. Can anyone suggest ways to avoid this? I had to take a laxative and that "cleared up" the problem but also gave me two days of the OPPOSITE problem. Thanks in advance, wise folk!
  17. FYI-- I called my doc for advice about avoiding constipation and his nurse said take Miralax twice a day. They don recommend taking fiber because it fills you up and you risk not getting to your protein and nutrient goal.
  18. I love chopsticks!! I even manage to eat yogurt with them( VERY SLOWLY!) The only downside is when picking up a large piece of something, I have to consciously remind myself to take a small bite...

    Smoking

I had to have a nicotine blood test done about a month and a half before my surgery. If I failed, no surgery! My surgeon gave me all of the reasons people outlined above but the most important was that I was electing to undergo surgery to be healthy and smoking was in direct opposition to that.
  20. I wasn't planning on telling people but as th time grew closer, I found that I just had to! It helped because every knew someone who had a band and I was able to connect with people. Everyone has been supportive BUT I notice that some co-workers are watching my food choices VERY closely! Lol
  21. I think ones body goes into a sort of shock after anesthesia. Add to that the limited calories you are taking in. I tried to return to work after one week but I was too tired and foggy. Two weeks was better. I'm six weeks or so out now and I'm gaining energy every day! Also, once you are cleared to resume exercise-- do it!! It helps boost spirits and energy!
  22. Ooooohhh! I was hooked on black beans for a few days until I realized they make my stomach literally blow up!! Lol I keep forgetting to buy Beano, so I'm avoiding the beans at the moment! I have some Metamucil, maybe ill sneak it into my coffee in the morning and see if it helps. The constipation is increasing my port pain so I have to fix it. Thanks for all of your help!
