March 2013 Surgery Dates?
MileHighDreamer replied to ShannaS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is Scheduled for March 28. When I went in for my labs they discovered I was diabetic, but just barely as in my numbers were just over the benchmark, but im taking medicine now and ive lost 15 lbs already by not eating sugar and low carbs! Im having labs done again in two weeks to see if I can still have my surgery in March. -
Personally I did not like the seminar setting. I like one on one settings better.

My surgery is two months away and Im already "training" I bought some advantEDGE carb smart shakes. And drink everything sugar free. The thing that keeps me hopeful for my two week diet is that-in my case. Ill be allowed one 6oz piece of chicken breast every other day. No seasoning no oil og course. -

First Appointment/ First Consultation
MileHighDreamer posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got up at 5am yesterday; or to say I stood up all night and started getting ready at 5am is more accurate. I just coulnt sleep. I was excited and anxious. I drove 5 hours by myself with my dog Jackie. I had to borrow my fathers car that uses less gas. I arrived 3 hours before my appointment, and decided to go check in early. I thought I would I would have to wait but luckily I was seen early. The visit was what I expected and I went ahead an had a visit with a nutritionist. We also took care of the pre surgury test. The blood, breathing, and heart exams. My favorite part was that I was able to arrange my self pay status. Im gonna fo 4500 down and the rest in payments, so I chose March 27, 2013. -

How can I get my family to support me?
MileHighDreamer posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank everyone on here for your support. Im going tomorrow for my first consultation in San Antonio. So far i've told all my family members but they dont seem to understand. My father said , "well stop eating." What do I need to communicate here ? All my family is overweight. The fact that we are all great cooks doesnt help either. -
How can I get my family to support me?

Yea I wanted my sister to know about the whole process, inside I was hoping she would also want to get help with her weight. Especially because she has two children. But she told me very honestly, "I love food too much" I hope after I get the band things change. -
Hi everyone, im Milehighdreamer, you may also call me Adrian. I am a Colorado transplant living in Midland Texas; I moved here last year because my 53 year old astranged father was living here and had/survived a heart attack. I am now 27. I am 5'11" and weigh 347. I had been working in the oilfields of Texas for most of last year. Which I enjoyed very much but had to quit because of physical demands. Now I work for a major wholesale retailer; but I wish my body would have allowed me to stay in my previous job. In Denver, in 2011 I attended a huge lapband seminar but was turned off by the impersonal aspects of that meeting. But after the seminar I contacted my insurance and found that the surgury was excluded. Now its january 2013 and im feeling much older physically. My right knee always hurts aswell as my feet. I have trouble keeping up with coworkers and friends. I cannot work hard, I get tired soon. Im just not feeling what I belive a 27 year old should feel like. Im not fit and my life feel unfulfilled. I feel like im traped inside a jail which is all this excess weight. A week ago, while stocking 90lbs boxes of ribeye at work, I had a very sudden idea. I said to myself,"its time!" I thought about it for a hour, knowing I was going to have to be a self-pay. I then told everyone I knew that I had made the decision to get the operation. I asked my close friends and relatives for money to pay for it. With limitex success. But I can say this thursday I will be driving 5 hours to San Antonio for my first consultation. They told me on the phone if I pay half I can pay the rest over two years. Well wish me luck everyone.

The voyage of a lifetime..
MileHighDreamer replied to MileHighDreamer's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes big is normal here in Texas. I thinks its because in the summer its so hot; people just want to be inside in the air conditioning. Very different from Denver which is one of the fittest cities in the u.s. when I first moved to texas, I became way more attractive instantly. But that doesnt change my health concerns. -
