POLL - Whats your sweet spot in 10cc band?
Teal replied to bunnykin4u's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had fill #4 since this past February and I am still chasing that elusive 'sweet spot' I am beginning to wonder if it really exist. I called my doctor's office to set up an appointment for another fill (currently I have 5cc's in a 10cc band) My weight has been stuck at this same spot for months now the thing is the inches are coming off but the scale won't move (darn it) -
I love watching those shows, helps to remind me why I got the band in the first place.

Hello JB, Congrats on getting your surgery and your weight loss so far. This period after banding is what I have heard others refer to as "Bandster Hell" being hungry and not having a fill yet. I noticed where you mentioned about getting an adjustment when you meet with your doctor on the 4th, FYI, most doctors wait at least 6 weeks before doing the first adjustment (so don't get your hopes up too much) I have heard of doctors putting partial fills in at the time of surgery but never within a week or two of banding. . . . Good luck on your post-op visit and let us know how you are doing.

My doc said no soda, and that is good enough for me. I am self-pay so I am not about to do anything to jeapordize the success of my band. Gosh I do miss my ice cold Pepsi . . . . .
-
I usually have a packet of Weight Control oatmeal (the cinamon flavoured one is really good) or yogurt for breakfast.

The absolute nerve of some people. Who the hell was talking to her anyway ? ? ?

I would never even think of it.

How did you choose your doctor?
Teal replied to litlbubbls's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
While I was researching the surgeon my Primary Care Physican recommended I came across this surgeon. The more I read about him the more impressed I became with his experience. My part-time job at Lane Bryant I also came across a few patients who had great experience with him, and when I met him I just know that I wanted him to take care of me (I have no regrets at all about my decision) -

georgia girl, you are one hell of a lady! I say that because not many of us are willing to re-examine our past actions and admit if/when we make a mistake. As someone who was not born in this country I do speak with an accent so I do find it necessary to alter my speech pattern depending on my audience. When I am with my friends and family my speech is totally different than when I am at school or work, I am not pretending I am adapting.
-
What's wrong with altering your manner of speech depending on the audience you are speaking to? IMHO all these Oprah haters is just green. I don't know her personally so saying I love or hate her would be as ignorant as saying she "talks white"

I have never been a breakfast person either, everything taste like toothpaste to me early mornings. If I force myself I can eat something by 10 - 10:30 aam. And then lunch around 2 - 2:30, but shhhhhh don't tell my doc.

Man forced to pay child support for a kid that isn't his
Teal replied to kagoscuba's topic in Rants & Raves
No to the refund of past payments, but I don't think this man should me made to pay child support for a child that is not his. -
Is there different kind/size of band for Gays & Lesbians? If there isn't then I don't see the relevance in telling your Doctor/Surgeon.

Okay, no need for harsh words, this forum is for sharing ideas & opinions. We are all NEVER going to agree on everything, diversity is a great thing . . . that's my .02 cents worth.

The Samoas are my favourite too. I haven't bought any in 2 years and I don't plan to buy any more in the near future. I too get the looks and the questions, I just tell them "I have decided to swap junk food for a smaller size jeans" then I smile and walk away. No way will I get bullied or feel guilty for not buying them.

I too just called my Doctor's office to schedule my 4th fill. I was banded 5 months ago and I have yet to feel any restriction. Do not cancel your appointment, you will eventually get that restriction that we all crave. My doc is very conservitive and when I hear of some people who actually had a partial fill during surgery I get soooooo jealous, but it's an individual thing so I am holding my head up high and be glad that even though I am loosing s l o w l y at least I have not gained anything since being banded.
-
Yeah, the chicken in me feared the fill too, and then after my first one I realized that much like the surgery there was nothing to worry about. You are right Brickgirl, watching the floro was cool and it totally distracted me from the needle :-)
-
I just like to see the before and after pictures, period. Keep them coming you guys.
-
My fills are usually in the a.m. My doc recommends I don't eat anything before I come in, so usually I don't eat anything after dinner the night before a fill. Be sure to check with your doctor first though & good luck!

Slow looser here, I was banded in August of 07 and I am only down 22 lbs. I have had 3 fills so far (for a total of 4.0cc's) but still no restriction. I have given up most carbs (especially the white processed stuffed) I go to the gym 3 - 4 days per week . . . . . . grrrrrrrr

Does your DH or SO know how much you weigh?
Teal replied to cQQlgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
When I told my SO how much I weigh and he thought I was joking. I really don't look it (right now at 230 lbs I am fitting comfortably in a Lane Bryant size 16 jeans) so most people don't believe me when I tell them how much I weigh. I never had a problem telling him my weight (by the way he is about 160-165 lbs soaking wet) grrrrrrrr -
Do you burp more now that you are banded? (non-productive, just air)
Teal replied to dustout's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes, I burp a LOT more since being banded, and not just one or two, it's like a symphony. -
POLL - Whats your sweet spot in 10cc band?
Teal replied to bunnykin4u's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have had 3 fills for a total of 4cc's, haven't reached my sweet-spot yet, I am hoping to get there with fill #4 (fingers crossed)
