May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?
Cindy Martin replied to mrsplusamericajacksonville's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
HIGHEST WT: 324 SURGERY WT: 285 CURRENT : 268-down 17 lbs since surgery. Love every lb gone. Woohoo. GOAL : 160 I am doing everything I can possibly do to be compliant. I will lose when my body wants to lose. It will take time to get rid of all the weight I gained during my lifetime. I know now I have a fighting chance, and that's all I asked for. We can ALL do this. Good luck guys! -
3 weeks out eating about 1200 cal/day
Cindy Martin replied to mamamareli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told up to 3 months out your calorie amount should be between 500-700. I'm 3 wks out and I have only been able to get in 500 total and that's with 2 Protein shakes. I could get more if I force it but would then be too full. In the beginning I was drinking and eating too fast. I started timing my bites 1 minute apart. I got full a lot faster with a about 1/2 the food. Hope that helps -

Surgery 5-13, so excited- anyone else scheduled for May 13th?
Cindy Martin replied to valhughes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I'm scheduled for 5.01.13 I started my preop diet 04.09.13. Can't believe I have a weEk behind me. Preop diet: 2 Protein shakes at Breakfast, lunch with 2 1-2 oz protein snack and for dinner is 6 oz lean meat w/cup of green veggies. I have to say this has been very difficult for me. I am doing better now, but those first 3 days were a killer for me. As hard as it is I am truly grateful for having to do it. This has taught me how much I need to deal with emotionally and how I need to change food from being a friend to being a source of nutrition. I never realized how much I used food as a sedation substance. I lived off of junk food, and actually think I've been addicted to their additives. I do not want to be a prisoner to food and this is the first step in the process of freeing myself from prison. I'm so excited about upcoming surgery and I know in my heart I'm on my way. I realize there will be pain, trials, learning experiences and major changes in my relationship with food. BRING IT ON! -

Cindy Martin replied to Luvlvnlyfe5's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Aspiring-Thank you. The more I read the more I hear stories like yours. I am self-pay, so I have to make the right decision first. The main reason I did change to sleeve is reading all the posts on this site. Thank The Lord for this site. What a blessing. You guys are helping so many people. -

May 1st here in Houston,TX. On day 5 of preop diet. Down 13lbs since Tuesday morning. Down 21lbs since started on the journey. When I was scheduled for Lap-Band I was very anxious and could not calm down. Now that I'm having the sleeve instead I'm very calm and feel it's the right decision. -

What can you expect before you have Weight Loss Surgery
Cindy Martin replied to Suzannesh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for taking the time to write this post. I know I am making the right decision in order to save my life. I have Diabetes type ll-insulin dependent, hypothyroidism, insulin resistance, fibromyalgia..... I am not looking for a swimsuit body, just wanting to tie my shoes without causing a muscle spasm and get healthy. It really does encourage me to hear awesome success stories like you just told. Thankl you sleeve date 05.01.13 -
I have just finished my 2nd of 21 days of preop diet. My sleeve date is 05.01.13. This has been a rough couple of days. From what I am reading people are saying 1-5 days are the worst, depending on the person. I can't believe I have to endure this for 3 wks, but I know I can do it. I just pray every day I'm making the right decision. I feel in my heart I am. I wish you well, please let us know how you are doing.

I'm so excited for you that the surgery is behind you. My "birth day" is 05.01.13. I call it my "birth date" because I feel like I'm preparing for the birth of a baby. I'm actually preparing for the birth of my new life. I hope your doing well. On day 2 of preop diet. Not too pretty. Please let me know how you are. Praying for you, Cindy -
Sassy-No I can't come to the party due to going out of town today. Will be back Sunday. But, since you brought it up, how do you go to a party. Do you join a group in chat room? Very new to boards.

Cindy Martin replied to pomeerin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am very excited to be honest. I was very scare when I had scheduled the Lap-Band, twice, because I knew in my heart the sleeve was the right thing for me but the band was cheeper. Now that I have bitten the bullet and going for the sleeve I don't feel scared at all. I am nervous though. I start my 3 week pre-op diet on 04.09. That's the part I'm scared of because it is pretty strict and I want to be as compliant as I can. The third week I'm on liquids only, sheeeesh! I think I can get through it knowing it's temporary though. Just gonna say lots of prayer. I went through all the paperwork and prep before so I know what your going through. I hope you get a date soon. -
Hi Sassy, I wish I were still in Dallas as well. I moved here in 2004 to help my father. He was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and his wife had major stroke and was in nursing home rest of her 3 years. I stayed with my father through the whole illness until he died in our home in 2008. I'm so thankful I had that time with him. During those four years I met my husband. He can't relocate due to his career. We bought a home in Splendora, TX and have set up roots. My kids and grandkids have all moved here so I'm staying put, lol. I do go there once in a while to reminisce and visit my grandmother's grave. When is your surgery date?

I have been looking for some sleeve buddies and could not be more please to find this group. I live in the Houston, TX area but was born and raised in Dallas. Miss Dallas tremendously, but this is where my roots are now. Looking forward to getting to know my fellow boomers. Cindy

Cindy Martin replied to pomeerin's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello Everyone, I feel anything I post about myself will be redundant, because so many of you share the same story as my own. I'm 50 years old and have been obese since my brain can remember. I did lose a 100 lbs in 2008 doing Atkins. It felt great and enjoyed life sooooo much more. Somehow, I lost control and gained every lb back. Maybe I was never really in control, hmmmm. I have Type II diabetes and have been on insulin for years. So tired of fighting this constant battle. I am scheduled for SLEEVE ON 05.01.13. I just don't have it in me to give up. I pray every day The Lord show me the way. This might be IT. Would love, and need, many supporters and willing to give support right back. Please add me as friend. Cindy -
No hunger pains, but really want food
Cindy Martin replied to Cleo118's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Are you kidding? Anytime you lose you are winning. You have done an amazing job. Keep up the great work. So happy for you. -
I was scheduled for the Lap-Band next week. I went through all the hoops and was all set. After doing more research I realized the sleeve is a much better option and will have a much longer positive result. I have an appointment with a different physician who agrees the sleeve is a better choice.

On day 6 of preop diet and this is the first morning I didn't have to take insulin. My blood sugar was 134. I can't stress how long it's been since I've seen that #, ever during the day. Wow! Walked on treadmill 30 minutes and now drinking my breakfast. Have an awesome day everyone.

Not losing weight
Cindy Martin replied to wozzicat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are exactly right Lady.. Our bodies will hold on to Water or weight if we are not providing enough. That is one thing I have learned over the many years of research about nutrition. Once we can eat regularly, and it doesn't have to be alot, our bodies will start burning fat. Yeah!!! I don't care what anyone tells me from this point on, I'm doing this for me, I will give it my all, and what happens will happen. I'm doing the very best I can and that's all I can ask of myself. -
Hello everyone, my name is Cindy. I am scheduled for the Lap-band on 03.07.13. I am in day 4 of my pre-op diet. I searched for a forum just like this one to help me with support and information. I would also like to encourage others on their journey as well. I'm not very good at reaching out to other, and this is one of my downfalls, so I've been told. I have been overweight most of my 50 years on this earth. Like many others I'm sure this has been a yo-yo syndrome. My starting weight is 324 and my current weight is 311.4. I would love to meet new people with whom I can build a supporting and loving relationship. My husband and family are great supporters, but I would love to interact with others going through the same procedure and there after. Thank you for reading, Cindy
