    Diabetics after the sleeve

Kulita-I didn't realize they made protein shakes with zero carbs. I'm definitely going to switch when I run out of mine. I've been hearing great things about Syn. Nectar anyways. Thank you

    Diabetics after the sleeve

It is frustrating because I'm still supposed to have 1-2 shakes a day and those carbs add up fast. I'm losing 2 lbs a week and building muscle. My sugars are still awesome so I guess I'm doing the right things. I just don't ever want my diabetes to come back. What a horrible life that was. i"m sorry to hear about your daughter. I'm sure that is so hard to deal with for life. I guess I should count my blessings.

    Seriously? Does everyone exercise?

Maybe you could find something to do that you would enjoy. Even if it's not gym stuff, you could enjoy so many other things that would get you moving. I wish I had access to a swimming pool cause I love the water. At the moment I have really stated to enjoy walking. It is very therapeutic to me. Everyone is different and find their own place in the exercise world. I think the biggest part of this weight loss journey is to get moving, whether it's skiing, bowling, walking, elliptical, etc.. What do you enjoy that doesn't involve sitting?

    Recommendations for a new scale

I totally agree with Janice. I have a good scale but I wish I had one with body fat % because it would show me how much fat I'm really losing.
  5. I was sleeved 05.08.13 and have lost 26 lbs, but alot was lost first 2 weeks. I am losing about 1-2 lbs a week and my doc said that is so normal. States will pick back up around 3 months out. I'm very happy with my loss and try to stay focused on making the healthiest choices a habit. The weight will take care of itself.

    Vulnerable

I am 6 weeks out now and doing fabulous. I walk 2+ miles a day and eat and drink what I'm supposed to. I have energy galore and loving life. The only thing I'm a little perplexed about is how I"m feeling vulnerable, exposed or unprotected. I'm not really sure of the best wordage, but you get the idea. I was wondering if anyone else has felt this after losing weight. I have felt like this before when I lost 100 lbs doing Atlins in 2004. I met my husband and felt so vulnerable and I feel I self-sabotaged myself and ended up gaining the entire 100 lbs back. I'm not going to let that happen this time because I now recognize what is happening. I am going to look for a self-help book that might address this problem. I'm sure I'm not alone in this. I did have some abuse during childhood and thinking this is a big reason for the feeling. Please let me know what you guys think. This is the only place I feel free to express my true feelings.

    Hurt feelings

I truly believe that the sleeve changes not only you but the people around you. I have had tons of support, but now that I've lost 61 lbs I can see differences in some people. Even my husband got insecure for a bit. I did reassure him that I'm doing this for me, and not to find someone else. I don't think any of us are prepared for the changes the might occur.

6 MONTHS POSTOP WITH PIC! (X POSTED)

I love seeing success stories. I'm 5 weeks out today and have such a long way to go, but, I have lost 61 total and I know it will all come off.
  11. I can't believe how much my taste buds have changed since surgery. It wasn't all at once, but they are still changing. I discovered Hummus and love it sooooo much. I eat Hummus and 2 Melba toast for a meal and feel like I have had such a treat. So funny to me how different I feel about food. I call my pouch " peanut", pretty weird I know. I consider Peanut a different entity now. I think of feeding Peanut to supply my body with fuel. I no longer had the same relationship with food. I no longer consider food as 1. my friend 2. my comforter 3. my anti-anxiety drug 4. my social drug.......the list can go on and on. My head is no longer looking down, it's looking up. I'm wonder what can I do now to be more active, and to live. Just sharing some of my thoughts this morning. Love you guys for such support and encouragement.

May sleevers! How much have you lost so far?

  15. Just accomplished one of my goals, down 60 lbs. This journey is not easy but so worth it. I did want to mention, however, that yesterday I tried chicken for the first time and it did not settle well. I had a lot of grumbling in my stomach and pain. I did chew well and ate slow, I always do. It even hurt to drink Water an hour later. I have tried turkey and pork before and did fine, so I think I have to wait for little bit on chicken, which is my favorite. Has anyone else had trouble with chicken? I'm almost 5 weeks out.

    160 pounds GONE !

Thank you Chandi. You have done an amazing job. Do you have any advice for us freshly sleeved people? In particular, so many people on hear are worried about stalls or slow weight loss. I am constantly reading that people are worried they are doing something wrong and won't be able to lose their weight. I would love your input.
  17. I am post-op 4+ weeks and would also love to hear from veteran sleevers.

How much exercise is too much?

I currently walk average 40 minutes a day, 6 days a week. I have noticed on this forum that some people exercise a lot more. I understand you need to move and exercise, but I don't want that to become my addiction in place of food. I truly love walking and feel that is the best way for me. I was just wondering what everyone was told they should do from their health care professionals?

    Not losing :(

I have lost 19 lbs since 05.08.13 sleeve, but it has been 1-2 lbs a week for last 2. My doctor said after 2 weeks post-op your weight loss will slow to 1-2- lbs a weeks until 2-3 months out and then will pick up a lot. Inches will keep coming off though. I know I'm eating what I'm supposed to and doing my exercises so I'm not going to stress. I think it is such a blessing we have this opportunity and we should be proud our ourselves for making the sacrifices we do to better our lives. The weight will come off in time. So grateful to be able to share with each other.

  22. Good Morning Everyone, I’m officially 1 month out today. I am down 19 lbs and averaging 4.5 lbs a month. Total loss since starting journey is 58. Losing 1-2 lbs in the last 2 weeks. When I went to my doctor appointment on my 2 week post-op the coordinator told me that I would slow down to 1-2 lbs a week until about 2-3 months out and would then start losing a lot faster. She was so right. She is a WLS patient herself and she knows so much about what we’re going through. I’m feeling very well and energized most days. I take my vitamins and drink my water requirements most days. I always get at least 50 gms of protein in now, was very hard at first. I’m walking 1.6 miles 6 days a week. Last night was hard because it was still 92 degrees out. Whew! Have been getting a lot of wow! and OMG! lately from anyone at I haven’t seen in few weeks. Loving that. My clothes are much loser, loving that. I have had 3-4 people tell my face looks different. One of the neighbors came over when we had a BBQ and he didn’t recognize me at first glance. I laughed so loud. I could not have a better support system with friends, family and my online buddies here. Most of all I can’t the The Lord for his blessings and Grace. I am very compliant with the protocol my doctor gave me. I now eat Hummus, chili, lots of fish, boiled eggs, SF pudding, beans, mashed potatoes and more but can’t think of all right now. I’m on MFP and have an open diary if anyone is interested in being WLS journey pals. “bridges15804”. My fasting blood sugars went from around 280 to this morning of 87. That is incredible. I’ve been diabetic since 1998 and was on tons of insulin that was no longer helping that much. Used to take 10 different prescriptions and now take 1 + med vitamins. I know I’ve been a little long-winded, but I just want to share my experiences a little for the newbies. I am so grateful I was sleeved. I knew in my heart this was the right thing to do for me. I would please advise to make sure you are ready for change before making this step. It is not easy and takes a great deal of disciple and focus. I have to admit that with the sleeve it is easier to reach your goals, but you have to want it.
