I had my pre-op appointment today. I lost 14 pounds since my surgery on 3/20. I guess walking 1/2 mile every day is paying off. Total weight loss since starting my journey 38 lbs. Now I start my soft diet phase. I'm having cravings out of this world. I want spaghetti so bad. If I blend it, do you think it would be ok to eat it?

Yes. I mean my post-op. oops

MRSINTO I'm 14 days post op and I still have shoulder pain. It comes and goes. I notice if I eat too much, it starts to hurt. So right now I use it as a guide to stop eating. lol

Thanks for sharing. I'm headed to B&N now to see if they have it. If not, I will be ordering this book.

Hi, I had surgery 8 days ago. My gas pains went away day 4. I took a stool softner and that seemed to move the gas. The hunger eventually subsided. I was actually able to eat today and feel full. Best of luck.

Light_lady best of luck finding a way to finance your surgery. Do you have a 401K? If so, you maybe able to borrow from that. My previous employer did not cover the surgery, I had planned on going that route. However, luck was on my side and I found another job whose benefits covered the surgery.

I don't think anyone could answer the cost without insurance. Your surgeon would know the answer to your question. I didn't know I had a hiatal hernia until after surgery. I had insurance and was told that I had two surgeries for the price of one. Your surgeron may not charge you at all.

For the last couple of days my sinus has been draining profusely. I now have chest congestion and I'm coughing. I plan on contacting my primary doctor to get stronger than over the counter meds to help.

4 day post op for me as well. Like you my home is a mess and my niece whom I'm raising got mad at me because she was kicked off the track team and told me today that she hated me and didn't want to live with me. I started crying. I did the worst thing by contacting her mother. Whom I know is not fit to parent to tell her to come get her. I'm hungry, just now getting over the gas in my stomach, no BM yet. I took a stool softner, but nothing yet. My brother or son, can never go to the store and get what I ask for. They're always coming back with the generic brand. Thank God I decided to take a vacation after my surgery. I'm not sore to the point where I have to take any pain meds. I just want to be able to eat MEAT!

I received my band on 3/20 as well. I'm having gas pains out of this world. Hopefully it will end soon.

I'm getting banded today 3/20/13. I had a previous band date of 2/13/13, but my primary Dr. wanted more test due to X-rays showing an enlarged heart. All is well with the stress test and the sonogram. I'm scared, nervous and excited. I'm ready to turn the page and start a new chapter.

I'm Feb 13th as well.

Surgery set for 2/13. This is my first day on my pre-op diet.

My surgery is set for February 13th. I start my pre-op diet tomorrow.

I was reading what I'm allowed to eat on the pre-op diet. I see that I can have unlimited chicken/beef broth and a green vegetable. I'm allowed 4 oz of meat (chicken,turkey, fish) per day. Could I use a version of the cabbage soup diet that contains the green vegetables i.e. cabbage, brocolli, and green beans? I will cut up 4 oz of chicken into the soup. I'm trying to find a way to trick my mind into thinking I'm eating. Would this be an option?

My surgery date is set for 2/13/13. I start my protein drinkis 1/30/13. My current weight is 370. I can't wait to begin my new life.
