Laura… thanks I hope everyone looks at it differently after my success.

Gemini… my mother actually had gastric bypass back in 1980 it was actually experimental for her and didn't work but she said it was a lot different back then they didn't even require them to change their diets and she only lost about 15 pounds. I don't think she is necessarily against it but doesn't show support either. My father feels like it can be done with diet and exercise alone. He says just give up breads, rice and pasta and I would be fine!

Everything is taking SOOOOO long!
UPRR Wifey replied to petra1124's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't personally know how comfortable I would be with that. I met my surgery at my first doctors visit concerning the surgery and he examined me. He also completed my EDG and led my seminar. I would just need to be more connected with him before surgery. I'm sure it may depend on the hospital. Maybe he has a very large practice and is very busy. Best of luck! -

March Sleevers Where are You
UPRR Wifey replied to GrannyGoes4it's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was scheduled for February 21st, but I changed my surgery to March 11th (pending insurance approval). I've completed all my pre surg requirement and my information was submitted to the insurance company yesterday so I'm just waiting to hear back from them. Not too nervous about the approval but I am definitely nervous about the surgery. I've read some posts that horrified me, but you have to take the good with the bad, right! Good luck to everyone on their journey. -
Mine was completed and all was cool. Had H Pylori also and was prescribed meds. This is common and is good to have completed so they can see what your stomach looks like.

SLEEVE PAIN AFTER I EAT ALMOST 5 MONTHS POST SURGERY
UPRR Wifey commented on anayortiz's blog entry in anayortiz's Blog
It sounds like it may have been too heavy for you. It has been five months but you want to still take it easy. Call you doc on Monday! -
Anyone using insurance through the railroad? Curious to know about your experience.

I see my cardiologist tomorrow for my yearly check-up and am supposed to have my cardiac clearance completed as well. What can I expect? I see my PCP on Thursday for my 6th visit and I also start my pre-op diet. Time is winding down and I hope that I will be prepared. Not nervous yet...

ruaamy... that's how my appointment went

The cardiac clearance was a breeze! When I got there he had already sent over my clearance last month. They did an EKG which he said looked great and I am good to go. Last PCP appointment on Thursday! Getting excited...

Falling into bad habits
UPRR Wifey replied to Sharonisshrinking's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I'm afraid of the same thing once I have my surgery. Keep your head up. Stay focused and have will power to say no. Biggest thing pay attention to when you are eating and choose healthy snacks. -
KyrstalP, my surgery date is February 21. Geminidrive I have mitral regurgitation ( not affected my health) and hypertension. I usually have an echocardiogram but didn't know what else to expect

Yes, I did like her. I felt comfortable in the facility and liked the staff. They are very organized there and provide you with all the information you need. I think you would like it! Good luck! -
Surgeons in Lafayette, Louisiana Dr. Chu/Dr. Cunningham
UPRR Wifey replied to Danyel Carter's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I am from Louisiana. I saw Dr. Chu in Lafayette last year but decided not to use her at that time because my insurance didn't cover the sleeve. However this year they do. I am in Alexandria and I am seeing Dr. Parrish. I have heard good things about their office and I have a cousin that will be getting sleeved there soon. -
You should contact both insurances and see what coverages they provide for bariatric surgery it's very possible one may not cover certain costs that the other one will. Just be prepared. Make sure they have both of your insurances on file. I have been getting bills also for pathology tests and portions not covered by my insurance and they are supposed to cover 95%

So I completed my sleep study last night and I am so glad that its over! Not the most pleasant experience… I have my cardiac clearance on Monday and I have my last appointment with my PCP on Thursday and my 6 months of visits are completed. I also see the nutritionist on the 12th for the final time and my paperwork will be submitted. My tentative surgery date is February 21st just waiting on my insurance approval. Anyone else using Highmark BCBS?
-
I hope so.

I am scheduled to be sleeved on the 21st. I have to start a high protein low carb diet 14 days prior to surgery and clear liquids 2 days before.
