January 2013 Bandsters!
leeshabeesh replied to Mimi1980's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banded jan 23rd and I've lost 40lbs. I look at my body and can't tell a difference but my clothes fit better and clothes I couldn't wear before! I know I could lose it faster if I made better food choices. I find myself thinking "that sounds good" and I eat it without thinking of it hindering my progress. Why can't I stay away from those fattening foods?!! And I haven't started a regular exercise routine. I exercise here and there but I really want to find something enjoyable. Any ideas or advice would be appreciated -

chest pressure day 3
leeshabeesh replied to tfrdrix1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How long did the pressure last? If I drink too much too fast sometimes I feel pressure in my chest from the liquid not going down yet. My surgeon said the band is right in center of your chest at the end of your esophagus. Try drinking smaller sips. If it lasts longer than a few minutes, call your dr. -

Banded in January too but haven't wrote on this post for a while. I feel like I might finally be in the green zone. I saw a few of you are on my fitness pal. Would you add me? Giddiup222 It would be great and encouraging to see all of your success knowing we were banded the same month!

PROTEIN max amout absorbed at one meal
leeshabeesh replied to n2win's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've done research about this and also asked my nutritionist. All the research and nut said your body can absorb 15 grams of protein every 15 min on average. I worried about that also drinking high protein drinks. The rest of the protein goes right through you -
I finally have restriction, but is it too much?
leeshabeesh replied to Justaprettyface's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My dr says liquids only the day after the fill and then mushies when you feel you can handle them. -
Thanks bubbs for posting this. I really needed to read it. I'm going through the same thing and all the comments I've read have helped me too! Carbs are definitely my enemy! I'm going to cut them way down and see if it makes a difference. I haven't been following the rules. I need to get my will power back and eat protein first and veggies more. I know what to do I just need to do it. But that's been my life story with eating healthy and exercise. I wish you luck! Thanks for helping motivate me

I'm new to Davis county, Layton area. Any girls around here? I was banded jan 23, 2013. Would love a support group nearby.

Pb means productive burping. To get out the trapped air or the trapped food. I ended up having to get an unfill. I was miserable. I ate something and chewed it really good but it got stuck and I couldn't get it out for over a day. When I went in to the dr office, water hurt to swallow. I felt so much better going from 6 cc to 5.2cc. On the upside I did lose 7 lbs thurs to mon by not being able to eat! Not worth it

Thanks for your comments everyone. I was just burping now I'm having a hard Time all around. Burping, getting stuck on everything, couldn't drink water last night and had bad acid reflux all night. Yesterday morning I drank a protein shake no problem. Today I couldn't. I got stuck on something last night and couldn't get it out and today I'm sore in my esophagus. I'm so hungry and can't eat anything. I drank done warm broth no problem but can't eat the same mashed potatoes I had last night. I'm trying to hold out till Monday when my dr office opens. It's hard being anorexic!

I got my 5th fill yesterday. I have been burping almost constantly. Not big belches but more like trapped air that keeps coming up. I did have reflux a few times last night but not too bad. I was able to eat some mashed potatoes, pudding and soup slowly. I drank a protein shake this morning but am still having the burps. Am i too tight? Should I wait a few days? Maybe my stomach is still a little swollen from having a fill? I went from 5cc to 6cc. I just didn't want to get in a situation where I have to go to the er or pay after hours prices. Has this happened to any of you?

January 2013 Bandsters!
leeshabeesh replied to Mimi1980's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
January bandits-- check in and let us know how much you've lost, what you've learned that helps you the most and any complications and other info that could help any of us. Starting weight 258lbs Current wt 238lbs Banded 1/23/13 Weight loss 20lbs I had my gallbladder removed 4/2/13 because I was having severe gallstone pain. Because of that I went without a fill for a while. I now have 5cc in 10cc band. I'm having trouble following the diet guidelines, i.e.eating enough protein, eating thick meat first, staying away from sweets, drinking enough water. -

I've had some pain like that. On the lower left side but more so on the right. I notice it dull or go away for awhile when I have a BM. it might be constipation. I mentioned the pain I was having to my PA yesterday and she said that's probably what it was -

How long have you felt that pain for? I felt something similar yesterday. It didn't last very long. Every time I feel any discomfort though I always fear it's from having the lap band. I just had my gallbladder taken out! My dr said I may never have had a problem with it if I hadn't had lap band surgery. Let us know what your dr says about your pain. Thanks! -
