How many ring sizez did you loose?

I'm three months out and meat just ain't my thing at present. I can eat shrimp, fish, hummus, and ground meat so I think that's plenty good. I'm keeping balance with veggies, protein shakes, nuts, seeds, yogurt, fruit, water. I've never eaten this healthy in my life!! So little alcohol I could join the convent. Maybe one cup of coffee a day with lots of nondairy creamer...It's crazy! I did have an endoscopy procedure about a month or so ago and that helped greatly. I have trouble with water and exercise which are now my goals. I had my three month check up today with bloodwork so I hope my schedules have been working. We will see in a week with the results. I'm on my fitness pal and have a nice group of people supporting each other that helps! Best to everyone! -

LeanMeanFightinMachine replied to chelseabell91's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had my surgery 12/31/13 and last month had tightness and inability to keep most solids down comfortably. I went in for the procedure, actually it was quite easy, and I feel much better. Recommend it! -

What does your day look like
LeanMeanFightinMachine replied to AutumnPunkin's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had my surgery 12/30/13 and for a month was having significant trouble keeping food down and getting it in. It turns out my stomach opening was too tight, went to doc and had a dilation. I am doing much better as long as I eat slowly. May be worth a check with your doctor? -

Wow, that's not cool! I'm requesting you no judging here. -
I am fascinated by all these shows about addiction. The addict does everything that they always do, scream, fight, manipulate, deny, bargain, abuse, lie, cheat.. Etc. whatever they have to do to get the next fix. It's sad and frustrating to watch someone kill themselves. It's sad to watch the enablers continue to help them do it knowingly or otherwise. I love watching the shows because when someone is in that place and comes through it to the other side, it's truly a beautiful thing.

I'm looking for a mentor myself. Had my RNY in December and think I'm doing well now. I am struggling with fatigue and trying to find motivation to move it! I live in rural Minnesota. -
Looking for a Buddy. I don't care where you live.
LeanMeanFightinMachine replied to Kristin Davina's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I bought a few cases of Premier Protein shakes in chocolate flavor. They taste good, best really cold and have 30g protein in each 11oz carton. I also bought a container of unflavored Unjury protein powder to throw into recipes for added protein. I tried experimenting with the unjury powder and like hot chocolate sugar free, ice,Greek yogurt, half a banana, and almond milk. Yum! -

Dr. Daniel Smith's /Minnesota People -COME ON DOWN!
LeanMeanFightinMachine posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had my procedure 12/30/13 at Essentia St Joseph's Hospital Park Rapids, Minnesota. Thought after meeting such awesome, supportive people there I'd start a thread. I attended a nutritional meeting this past Wednesday and connected with many people from newbies to veterans all doing well. I'm still off work, had an endoscopy today to dilate my stoma. I feel a bit better. Back to step 2... I can do it. -

Endoscopy tomorrow to dilate. Too tight, not getting enough calories in... I thought immediately- and this is a problem?! But, yes I realize why it's important just couldn't help feeling apprehensive of doc making it easier for me to eat. -

Having difficulty too. I tried to eat Italian wedding day soup= No.then Gravy and turkey mashed up= No. Even after two lengthy bouts of bathroom runs for PB's I can't even drink water now tonight. Grrrr!! Three bites and I'm screwed lately... Frustrated. -
question about Flax
LeanMeanFightinMachine replied to loving.life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I attended a fantastic educational seminar about digestion and the "gut brain" by Dr. Merrily Kuhn. She presented on clean eating, how digestion works, inflammation etc. Highly recommend her seminar, straight-talking New Yorker, no BS, very informative. Dr. Kuhn mentioned the benefits of flaxseed which must be freshly ground and uncooked for the most impact. She soaks hers in a small water glass, about two inches of water and waits for absorption before just chugging it down like a shot. Best medicine for inflammation. I have mine with chia seeds and hemp. -

Comparison of Chewable Bariatric Multivitamins for Gastric Bypass Patients
LeanMeanFightinMachine replied to SnowDaisy's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
So then none of these multivitamins meet all the ADMBS requirements? -
I had the RNY surgery three weeks ago and I tried a very small amount of honey today on my yogurt. I missed my usual morning yogurt, with honey and pecans. Sooooo... Just ate a teeny bit and seems all smooth sailing so far.

Some days are going to be rough. Your body is going through many changes, as is your mind. I think for all of us, change can be scary and sometimes upsetting. But remember all of the reasons you chose to do this for yourself. This is what I'm trying to do when I feel that way and want to throw in the towel. It will be sunny and bright on the other side of this and you have many people who support your decision here. -
I ate a Zinger and had a Foodgasm!
LeanMeanFightinMachine posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm three weeks post op and have bronchitis. I was looking for relief options without sugar, when my Gawd...that zinger pickle revealed itself to me. I took it slow, chewing carefully and it was not only fantastic tasting, the salt seems to have helped my throat. passing it along. -

Dr. Smith in Park Rapids, MN
LeanMeanFightinMachine replied to horseperson's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I had my surgery with Dr.Smith at Essentia in Park Rapids on 12/30/13. I highly recommend him. The program is informative, the staff was supportive all through the process. I'm sick at home with bronchitis and have spoken to the nurses there for advice a few times on my medical leave, which they have been most helpful with. -
Really want ice cream? Finally someone has made it possible.
LeanMeanFightinMachine replied to moofish's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ha! A wise hesitation however, better to feed the beast a little than to deny it until you gorge on garbage. At least in my situation, the sugar free jello, sf puddings, they do help those cravings. Sf hot cocoa too. I'm still trying to eat more than 2 tablespoons of anything.
