    Weekly Challenge

Hi, I just thought everyone got mad at me and didn't want to play any more when I couldn't log in! I got a .3 fill yesterday, seems to really have helped. Darcy, you're always so sweet to notice everyone! I posted about the Beach weekend under "Good Deed?". I'm sticking at 190 STILL. Maybe I'll start moving on downward now!

    Another Newbie!

Hi, Fran, what is your height, age, and beginning weight? You'll do great with this Band! It won't let you fail, even when you want to. You'll be amazed at how much better you'll feel physically and emotionally - in a really short amount of time. Best of luck to you! Take care of yourself and please obey YOUR doctor's rules! We want you to heal properly and not have any problems! Oh, yeah, and DRINK THAT WATER (but not w/meals)!

Out of the Mouth's of Babes

You really won't fail when you get your band! But it sounds like those boys are going to "keep a fire lit under you" as a good back up plan. It's great that your oldest son is health conscious. Hopefully he's developing habits that will help him live a healthy lifestyle and avoid our health-related problems.

That is TOO funny! I have 23 and 20 year old sons. They don't know I'm banded, or they'd be keeping an eye on me, too. You have your own built-in "Band Patrol". But they love you and care about you. That's sweet!

Blessed Energy! Time to go to work!

Wow, Lisa, and you just had your surgery 2 months ago! The kids will enjoy their rooms for many years to come! You really should talk w/ Janie about "mural painting". You definitely have a talent! I also love your daughter's furniture. I figured out my oldest son had outgrown his hotair balloon mural (wallpapered, not drawn) when I found magic-marker stick-figures skiing on the lake portion of the mural.. LOL:D

Lisa, I have some of those same unfinished projects!

    In Case of the Unthinkable...

I have AOL. I had it happen once before, but it didn't last as long.

    weekly scale challenge

    190. I thought I'd gain after eating salty snacks this weekend! I got .3 put in my band yesterday. That seems to really be helping with the "grazing". The nurse kept telling me how good my legs look. My husband said my calves are getting definition. It's that biking. Now I need to get to work on the gut and upper arms! Hopefully I'll have a "losing" week for a change.

    That will be BEAUS! :D

    I should Introduce Myself

Vicki, best of luck to you! You will feel so much better if you can get a realistic weight loss aid! My blood pressure, asthma, and reflux have been reduced drastically (and the meds. too). This is saving me and the insurance company $$ immediately and long-term. Hopefully more and more insurance companies will see the Lapband as a win-win situation.

Good for you, Leatha! I'm so glad that you found this! Isn't it wonderful when that something clicks! I know you are the cutest, little thing out there on that floor. I bet those guys are fighting each other off to get to you first! Now, are you going to be riding Gilley's bull next? (Think Debra Winger, John Travolta....hmmm.)

    Any advise?

Lisa, How about some time just for you and him? Do you have a good support system that can help out with the kids? A set date (once or twice a month) or what ever is practical for your schedule. That will give you both something to look forward to. Let him know that you appreciate being a "stay-at-home" Mom. And that you're getting healthier for him, your kids, and yourself to be able to enjoy life more together. Maybe you can coax him to start taking walks w/ you and the kids, go to the park, put-put golf, or anything that doesn't involve t.v. If you have someone that can keep the kids overnight, how about "kidnapping" your husband for a night or two in Galveston? It's a short drive and a wonderful place to get away. Moody Gardens or The Galvez are wonderful (but pricey). Have the kids already deposited, the car packed, and ready to go when he gets home from work. (Just don't forget to pack his belt, like I did.) The catch is you can't talk about the kids, bills, or problems at home. Just treat each other like you used to when you were dating. That's easy to forget (for both of you) when you're in the middle of raising a young family. It's hard to be romantic or schedule any time for each other (without worrying about kids bursting in). I remember those hectic days! But those kids do grow up. Take care of yourself!

    Munchies

I don't measure or weigh anything. I do use a salad plate for all my meals. Boy, when we eat out, they serve you on platters!

However, Teresa hasn't had any fills and has lost over 62 pounds!

    Munchies

You are doing fantastic! They say anything lost before your first fill is a plus. Some people actually gain during this phase. Your stomach has had time for the swelling to reduce around the newly installed band. So you're basically wide open at this point (and as hungry as you were prebanded). A fill will definitely "cinch you" back up. Just be sure you don't get overfilled. That can cause a whole boat load of problems. Are you on regular foods yet? If so, watch what types of food that you are eating. Proteins first, veg. second. They will "stick to your ribs" longer than hi-carbs do. Are you getting your Water load in daily (but not with meals or up to one hour after meals)? And throw that word "diet" out of your vocabulary! Haven't you learned by now they don't work? Have a great weekend!

    naughty and busted!

Hopefully, it was just a "wake up" call. Pretty scary, isn't it? Please take it easy and try to behave yourself. I know it's hard, but you can do it. If you really get a yearn for hamburgers, take the meat only and puree it (just to be on the safe side).

Wow, Darcy, that sounds like a heimlech manuever in the making! LOL:D :D

    3 Weeks post op

Courtney, Congratulations on the great weight loss! Do you feel like you need a fill yet? If you're feeling satisfied after your meals and getting your full water intake in and losing weight, you don't need one yet. I waited 2 months. Teresa's been banded since 4/04 and still hasn't had a fill yet. Others have had a couple of fills in that amount of time. It's a very individualized thing. No two people (and drs.) are the same.

    Weight and clothes sizes.

There doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason to clothing sizes. I can try on 2 of the same thing and they both fit differently. I'd be afraid to use mail order.
  21. New Hope

    Wahhhhhh!

Oh, and don't forget Men lose weight much easier than Women do. So it's a shoe-in!
  22. New Hope

    Wahhhhhh!

But, Ryan, think of it this way, that will just put you that much ahead in the game of weight loss! You win when you lose! Come on, you can do this! It's temporary. You'll do fine!
  23. New Hope

    Frustrated!!

Yes, 22 pounds in 7 weeks is wonderful! I agree w/Darcy, you'll be pleasantly surprised in the inches that you've lost. And like Michelle asked, it's really important to get that water load in (but not with your meals) and try to eat solid, filling proteins that help you feel full longer. This isn't a race. This is "for keeps". One week you may seem to lose, then the next it may seem to just sit there. Please don't get discouraged. Your band will be there for you. Best of luck!

    Poundage lost

I know we could hit a ton easy if we could get all the bandsters to post!
  25. O.K., Leatha, you're right! But it's easy to "forget" sometimes when that juicy grilled shrimp is placed in front of me. Then I find out "my eyes really are bigger than my stomach"!
