We were discussing this very topic in the Chat room tonight. One of our single Bandsters just needs to marry a plastic surgeon and then give us all "some support". LOL
-
Lauri, like this thread is dignified?

Blossom, try Mylicon Baby Gas Relief Drops. There's a generic available ($3.50?). Those worked great for me. And walk around as much as you absolutely can. It really will get better!

Loveme, I'm trying to figure out the reasons for your posts. Apparently, you're not interested in following the banding rules. Why did you get a band and how do you expect it to work? Who is giving you your fills, if not your dr.? I realize that you're very young, but please take some responsiblity and take care of yourself!! I'm sure your husband doesn't want you to die! -
Congratulations, Kim! Now, pleae join the weekly scale challenge. The trick is learning to stay off the scale and only use it once a week. (It will save you a lot of stress... really!) You're doing great!!

Humble, Cleveland, or Kingwood? You'll be in our neck of the woods...Lisa Green, Claraluz, and me!

Anyone get banded that started under 200 lbs to begin with?
New Hope replied to a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm also a shortie. I did have a lot of co-morbidities that I know are directly related to weight gain (high blood pressure, asthma, arthritis). The things I listed to do are things I didn't start doing until after being banded. I wish I'd known to do them before I got to my max. weight! I sincerely hope that your Lupus tests will remain negative. Good luck to you in your search for better health! -
Hi, Tanns, you've found a whole "boatload" of bandsters here! Best of luck to you while you research! How much weight are you wanting to lose?

Only you can answer the ? if you're heavy enough. Were you able to go to the lapband seminar and get some information? How much weight are you wanting to lose? Do you have any co-morbidities (existing health problems)? Does your family have a history of health problems? If you're planning on self-pay, is the financial investment worth it for the amount of weight you want to lose? Regardless of whether you're banded or not, please try to start living healthier and making better choices. Things that could be helpful with or without a band: drink plenty of Water during the day, try not to drink with your meals so you feel full longer, find some form of exercise that you enjoy and do it regularly, avoid starches - potatoes, rice, eat lean meats and healthy vegetables first, avoid high carbs, and of course limit sweets. -
Wow, Betty, felt like you just got rescued off a deserted island, didn't you? LOL Yea, the cold food reminds me of when the kids were little. Everyone else is done eating when you're just getting started. 35 pounds! Way to go!!:cheeky
-
Paula, you're too cute! Believe me, those kids will keep Mike on his toes! And they'll report everything back to you when you get home. So glad you can come!!
-
Those are to help prevent you getting blood clots. (Leatha can tell you the dangers of those!) I loved those things and wanted to bring them home w/ me! It felt like a massage. But I had to get someone to disconnect them every time I got up to go to the bathroom (since I didn't have a catheter). So, since I was up and moving so much, they just left them off after a few hours of use.

Hey, girl, sending you (((hugs))) and prayers for an uneventful surgery and rapid recovery! This is your last day of your old life! Best of luck to you!

Right now, it's Leatha, Betty, Nancy, Ginny, Lisa Green, and me. I'm still waiting to hear back from Paula and Kyleigh. Galveston weather forecast shows "Plenty of sunshine, 66* high, 54* low." Sounds gorgeous! My son wants to know if there will be any "adults" at this beach party. I told him, no! I'm going to pm directions and my cell phone # to those going. Would you please pm me your cell # and (if you haven't yet, roughly what time you'll be arriving)? I'll find out on Friday if we can check in any earlier than 3 p.m. on Saturday and let you know.
-
Nik, best of luck to you!! You'll be back outside enjoying your gardening and camping before you know it! Welcome to the beginning of your new life!
-
Alex, I understand! My DH's company just had their annual party 3 weeks ago. I hadn't seen these people in a year. I looked for weeks to find something to wear. I was almost sick at my stomach by the time we got there. But it really went well. DH's old boss is the only one who said, "Wow, you've lost a lot of weight!" But he's a real sweetie, so it was a compliment coming from him. My DH talks about our bike rides, so I guess they think that's how I'm losing. Still a closet bandster here. Their Christmas party is next month. I'll see others I haven't seen in a year, but I won't be so scared this time. Sending you (((hugs))) and a little boost of courage!
-
Lisa G., you're too sweet! Actually I'm waiting to reach the one Leatha posted..about guys whistling at you when you get in your car! (Sigh...) Gosh, I'd probably have a heart attack!
-
So they really didn't use "a rusty can lid, river water, and brick over the head to knock you out". LOL I remember your previous post. So glad to hear that you had a great surgical experience and are officially a "Bandster". Walk as much as you comfortably can and get all your water in. You'll be hopping on here giving others advice in no time! Take Care! P.S. Have you heard men lose weight faster than women? Lucky dog!
-
No, it's not strange, Lauri. It's love and acceptance, all anyone really wants. Now please get outside tomorrow and enjoy this gorgeous weather with that jealous husband of yours! Let him know we think you're pretty special, too.
-
Blossom, what wonderful news!! Congratulations on being a new Bandster! Now that's the type of banding story we like to hear! Please take care of yourself and don't overdo. Work on getting your liquids in and walk around as much as you comforably can. Not to put a damper on you, but you are on an emotional high right now. Please don't be surprised if you do feel bad for a few days. Temporary. Temporary. But, then again, it will be great if you continue to feel good! Wow, you got a catheter and didn't have to get up and go to the bathroom all night! Cool! I laughed about your DH. Enjoy that attention as long as you can! Mine spent the night at the hospital w/ me. He jumped up everytime I had to go to the bathroom (which was a lot). The next a.m., he looked like he'd been hit by a mack truck. He said he'd make a terrible prisoner of war, just use sleep deprivation and he'd tell them anything they wanted to know. LOL You're wise, please take it slow and easy on healing and eating stages. Don't push yourself. And your boss brought homemade tamales! That's too funny! Better stick those in the back of the freezer, out of sight! I'd give myself longer than 2 weeks before trying them. Congratulations! I bet your puppy was glad to see you! Now don't let him jump on your tummy!
-
Blossom, I want to wish you all of the luck in the world on your banding surgery and minimum pain recovery! So glad to have you become a "Band Sister"! Best of luck to you! (((hugs))) and prayers!

smoothies are thick.. How do you get it all in?
New Hope replied to momhappe1's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Audrey, you only need 60 grams of protein per day. Getting one you like the taste of is the tricky part. Save your $$ Sorry, but those are probably horrible tasting! -
I'll reserve a black one too! Maybe you can buy that yarn in bulk (cheaper) if you do all of them in the same color. You and Darcy are so creative!! You w/ your darling hats and she w/ her quilt. Do you really have the time to make hats? I will be so proud of one!

Lauri, I'm so sorry that you've been hit with so much. I agree with everything Kathy and Michelle have told you. I've been through my share too. For a few years, I felt like I was living in a really bad soap opera and couldn't get out of it. I can tell you that things really will get better. And this was the really hard part for me to do...Live life one day at a time. A lot of the things that we spend our time worrying about never materialize. That's a lot of wasted energy and time that we can spend more wisely on getting through each day. Try to be around positive, uplifting people. Make a list of the good things in your life. I bet if you do, they'll outdo the bad. Do something for someone else - go visit someone who's shut in, take an elderly person to the grocery store, give the mailman bottled water, walk someone's dog for them, pick someone's kids up from school, send a "thinking of you" card to someone you love and haven't heard from in a while, clean an ill person's house, volunteer your time at a school, library, nursing home, etc. There are tons of things that can be done that don't cost $$. I lost a very dear friend to a long battle w/ cancer. Up to the very end, she remained so positive and concerned about others. I always left there feeling so good. I hope I can have that type of strength and graciousness when my time comes. I can think of a few good things for you...your grandfather's renewed health, your loving parents, your beautiful children, and your adoring husband. Now please make your "good things" list. Sending you lots of (((hugs))) and encouragement!
