Start planning those outdoor activities, because you will feel so much better, more energy, not overheated, able to move more freely, more confidence to get out there and try things that you've put off for so long! -

You are very wise to check and double check your surgeon. Research as much as you can between now and your surgery date. There is so much to learn and a lot of information available in old threads. Best of luck to you! -
A few questions for the post-op stage
New Hope replied to Connorsmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm not a coffee drinker. I sipped water right after banding. But no problem guzzling it now. -
Becky, it's your version of snow! I told you it was coming! Just go out there and bust it up into smaller pieces.
-
I haven't heard this statement. I like it!

Hey, girl, you're going to be fine! You're very wise to be researching everything before banding. There is so much to learn. Each doctor seems to have his/her own rules as far as pre-op preparations, post-op rules, fills- scheduling and amount. This is very confusing. But please follow your surgeon's rules. He has reasons for these. We are not medical professionals, but a group of individuals who have been fortunate to receive the band and get back control of our life. If you've been coming here long, you'll find that we share a lot of things. Not all are band related. Best of luck to you on a successful banding and easy recooperation.

A few questions for the post-op stage
New Hope replied to Connorsmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Lauren, you can do it! It's only a small temporary stage. Getting your health back and being able to get out there and enjoy your children will definitely be worth it! Please just take it one day at a time! Come here and share your thoughts with others that know exactly how you feel. Best of luck to you! -
Wow, she was beautiful in the before pic too! I know she will be such a wonderful support for you!
-
Best of luck to you, Tammy! Be patient! You didn't get this way overnight and you may have to jump through some insurance hoops to get your band. You want to be sure and do everything the right way so they won't deny payment. But it is definitely worth it!!

Sounds like a lovely family, Jonathan! Can I be your "slightly" older Band Sister?
-
I hope you can get get your band! I've fought asthma for years. Losing weight has made all the difference in the world. I went from 3 inhalers, nebulizer, 2 RXs to 1 RX and 1 inhaler, no nebulizer treatments since banding. I'm able to walk, ride bicycles, and climb mountain trails (really!) without feeling like I was going to die. Why can't these insurance cos. wise up and get a move on - saving people's lives and them long-term care $$?
-
Hi, Kate! Congratulations! How much weight are you wanting to lose? It really does get better every day. Try to walk around as much as you can. Mylican Baby Gas Drops worked better for me than Gas-X. Have you tried a heating pad? Or standing in a warm shower, on the pulse setting? That seemed to feel good on my back and shoulders. Just don't soak in a bath tub yet. (You have open incisions and don't want to chance an infection.) Please try to drink as much as you can to avoid dehydration. Continual little sips here and there add up. Look forward to getting to know you better on here!

Yeah, Misty! Learn as much as you can now. And take it one day at a time. The liquid, hungry stage is temporary. You'll make it and be so glad you did! -
So, Jack, you had that refrigerator repairman look going on, huh?
-
Leatha, I do the same thing! And definitely no muscle here. Well, maybe around the mouth! No fluff either, just flab. LOL And I LOVE your "height challenged" statement! I can certainly relate to that one. But having met you, I can verify that you have a cute little shape. Really! And you have good taste in clothes. (P.S. Guess what quote my day calendar has on it today...That beautiful one about the whole and broken shells!)

I need some encouragement and motivation!

Marie, you've done amazing! I think we all have been bad during the holiday season. But we have our band and we'll get back on track. How about having your boyfriend buy one really nice meal in a nice restaurant and split it? You can choose baked, grilled, or steamed lean moist meats. Skip the fried stuff and pastas. Add steamed vegetables. Those plates are plenty big for two people! -
Adorable granddaughter and grandmother!
-
Leatha, you're heading in the right direction! Congratulations! Sounds like you'll be contributing to the Galveston Clothes Swap. Wonder what goodies are in store this time?

Hi, Connorsmom, looks like you were banded on January 24. How are you doing? Love to hear an update! Tracie, Congratulations on your upcoming banding! It's not all about getting thin. You'll be amazed at how good you feel, your increased energy, less depression, and being released from that grip food has on you. There's a whole non-food related world out there just waiting for you! Best of luck to you! -
That's great, Trish! You're just getting the jump on your banding!
-
Amoro, where are you getting banded? Are you required to attend an informational seminar? Everything should be thoroughly covered. And you can ask ?? from the dr. and usually a lapbanded patient. Meanwhile, please research everything you can get your hands on. You have a lot to learn before you are banded. The better informed you are now, the less surprises, less stress, and the more successful you'll be. Hit the Research feature at the top. Look up everything you can think of. Study, Study, Study! You'll be glad you did!
