Too funny, Darcy!! I did have one sliming episode in public. Fortunately, I was w/my DH and not trying to impress him on a first date. I don't get stressed like I used to and that helps a lot. I no longer scope out where the nearest bathroom is and if I have a clear path to it. People really don't pay any attention to what you do or don't eat. My DH and I usually split something. We're getting a nicer meal for less than we used to spend for 2 cheaper, higher fat/carb meals. But I have pb'd at home some, usually because I was in too big of a hurry and/or eating too big of a bite.

It's sounding good to me! And that's really neat about the clinic w/the gym for reinforcement. Got my fingers, eyes, and toes crossed for you.

Boy, this is so true, Darcy!! But, I have to tell you, you're doing a fantastic job overcoming this addiction. Just look at your stats!

I had the opposite problem. I didn't look in the mirror, except long enough to brush my hair. Didn't worry w/makeup or clothes, figured why bother. Dodged cameras for years. I have very few "fat" pictures available. I'll never be comfortable w/pics, but that's just me - no matter what I look like. We had a group pic. made last night. I automatically got in the back. My oldest son did get me a Victorian-style full-length free-standing oval mirror this Christmas. Previously I never would have used it. That's really helped a lot.

Jonathan, I understand about the $$. But please don't let yourself go too long w/o getting fluids in. Dehydration is very dangerous. Hope you're feeling better and able to keep liquids in...very, very soon.

Tanya, Congratulations!!! I know we have some Dr. Allen patients on here. Best of luck to you! And that's really cool that you were the first one approved. After they see how good you're doing, maybe they'll be more apt to approve others.

Seppi, one of the main reasons for getting the band is to regain your health. You're just getting some of those issues resolved before you get your band. Take care of yourself and you'll be banded when the time is right. Best of luck to you!

Ryan, you have done amazing!! Especially with everything that's been going on in your life. Keep up the great job!:banana

Why did you have staples? -
Hi, Mary, where are you wanting to be banded at?
-
You really need to have a filled prescription for phenergan suppositories on hand before you're banded. These will help w/any real vomiting like from a virus or the flu.
-
Lisa, thank you for sharing some very valuable advice. It's unfortunate that you had to learn it at such a high personal cost (financially, physically, and emotionally). Hopefully other pre-bandsters will read this post and learn from your experiences.
-
Anna, good luck on your search. I'm short too and there's no where for the weight to go but out. Please be sure you carefully research any dr. (anywhere) that you plan to use and that you have your aftercare lined up BEFORE you get a band.

Yes, Zoe!! Haven't you heard there's a "Dallas" remake? You're just ahead of the times.

Poor Lisa! Besides looking like you've been shot by a shotgun, do you actually feel better getting that nasty, infected thing out of your tummy? Please stay out of the hot tub, pool, or soaking bathtub!!! -
Today, a very nice guy told me to wait in my warm car so he could pump my gas for me in the drizzling rain. Yesterday, two guys flirted w/me at the show. Now if I'd quit blushing like mad!

Have you researched the old threads? There is so much information to learn before you make the decision to be banded. How much weight would you like to lose? Where are you wanting to be banded? Carbonated drinks are very uncomfortable - the fizzys. But I haven't had any problem w/margaritas or wine. They are "empty calories". If I purposely rub my tummy, I can feel my port (like a round, flat button), but my husband has never noticed it. It's under the skin, you can't see the impression of it. You will need to decide (before banding) if you're willing to live a healthier life style...healthier food choices, regular exercise, drink tons of water (but not w/meals or 1 hour afterwards). The band is a very helpful tool, but it's up to each bandster to make good choices for it to work at it's full potential. The individuals who've lost their ports have been from complications. You can read their numerous, old posts for full details. Ideally, the band is meant to last a lifetime. Good luck on your search for better health!

Jonathan, liquid tylenol should be easy for you to get down.
-
Congratulations, Jonathan! I can't believe you're already on here posting! You'll be back to your "buffed" pics size before you know it. Keep sipping and walking!

Trish, I just had the Psych eval., not nutritionist. I used one that my Lapband Dr. works with, as he was familiar w/ WLS and patients. Basically, I filled out a multi-page questionnaire w/multiple choice answers. Then I talked w/the dr. He was very nice, calm. He just wanted to know that I had realistic weight loss goals and that I planned on doing regular exercise, eating appropriately...just basically wanted to know that I understood the band, how it works, and what my responsibility would be. It went very smoothly, and quickly, no stress. He advised that he'd be available if I felt the need to talk w/him after banding. You'll do fine!
-
Julie, I hope you get good answers about the tacycardia and the adrenal gland cyst. You have a fantastic attitude. Things really will get better! Take care of yourself and happy Bandstering!!!

Penni, you're a true friend. Glad Lisa had you there.
