LapBand Food Stages Lists Suggestions
New Hope replied to dylansmom's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
bumping for newbies. These are suggestions. Please follow your surgeon's post-op rules. -
Ah, teas! Add just a little honey and lemon- wonderful. I think they're great for anything...sleeping, menstrual cramps, stuffy nose, headache, just relaxing. If you're drinking a lot of tea, you'll want to be sure and get decaffeinated. I love Celestial Seasonings Brand. Their "Sleepy Time" tea has camomille in it and works great.

Congratulations! You're a bandster! Best of luck talking to your Mother. Keep drinking that water!
-
I've never had the excess gas and/or belching that others speak of. I did have the "perculator" sounds going on in my esophagus, but not now.
-
Food is a little demon, isn't it? It gets us when we're hungry, tired, bored, lonely, happy, sad, depressed -- any time. The band is such a wonderful tool to help us fight those habits. You might start making a list of "non-food" things to do. A lot of times just drinking some water is all you need to do. I still have to work on that one too - some days better than others. I've just about stopped watching tv altogether...all of those food commercials! Best of luck to both of you! You can do this!
-
Are you having any health problems right now? You'll be surprised how much better you'll feel....your energy, confidence, joints, etc.
-
Hi, Sammee, Best of luck to you! Please come back and post how you're doing --when you feel better. How much weight would you like to lose? You have a wonderful new life waiting for you and your family to enjoy!
-
OK, Miss Joanie, back away from the chocolates! What are you doing tempting yourself like that? Now get back to that liquid diet, girl. LOL
-
The best thing to do is follow your own surgeon's rules -- diet, exercise, and all. He/she has a reason for those rules. We at LBT are not medical professionals. We are just ordinary people sharing our experiences, encouragement, and suggestions. Like Joan has said, all docs are different. I would hate to think someone had serious problems because they were listening to us rather than their dr.

Paula, other than preventing worms, what is it good for?

Don't read this if you have weak stomach...

Nancy, please leave them alone. You don't want to risk getting an infection. Have you tried Vitamin E oil? It helps w/itching and healing (reduces scars). -
Angela, I was mainly concerned if you had a large fill or a conservative fill. I would hope your dr. is logging the actual amounts each time.
-
The phenegran is a suppository (for the other end)... nips nausea right in the bud. For real throwing up, not just pbs. Store in the refrigerator.
-
Wow, Rachel, It really does get better day by day! Congratulations on getting your band! Keep sip, sip, sipping and walking as much as possible.
-
Lacy, best of luck to you on the wonderful life waiting for you!
-
Hi, Allie Lee! I think most of us can relate to your feelings. I'm so glad that you found a dr. to work w/you. That's awful about the Wish Center ripping you off! You will regain your will to live when these different ailments are reduced or completely eliminated. You'll be surprised at the increase in your energy level, elevation in your moods, and the increase in your self esteem. Losing weight will definitely help w/your different health problems. Lower doses of meds. is a wonderful benefit ...for the side effects and the old wallet. As far as who to tell, my husband, band surgeon, and bandsters here are the only ones I've chosen to tell so far. Please come here and "talk" with us. It helps so much to find that all of these feelings you thought were yours alone...are actually quite common w/others. Take care of yourself!
-
How much of a fill did they give you? Sounds like you need to contact your band surgeon and see what he/she advises. They may want to do an endoscope to see what's going on. Best of luck to you!
-
Kathy, Congratulations! Possibly you could pursue this surgery w/your dr. and health insurance. You have some co-morbidites that might qualify you. But I know that you are tired of waiting. And believe me, there would be plenty of that. I know that you are carefully weighing all your options and will make a well-informed choice. One thing that you know by now, please be sure that you have your after-care lined up (before you're banded.) Best of luck to you!
-
Hi Allie Lee, we're a friendly bunch. How about going to the introductions and tell us a little bit. Like how much weight would you like to lose. And Greg is right, you just might find a fellow bandster to give you a ride home from the hospital. We're everywhere! Hope to "talk" w/you more on LBT.

Boy, this band keeps us on our toes, doesn't it? Sounds like you definitely have restriction. Perhaps keep an eye on it for a few days and see if it gets any better. I know at one point I was pbing on even Water. Just removing. 0.2cc made all the difference in the world. I've been told sinus congestion can make us feel more restricted. So who knows, the weather might too. Do we have any weathermen/women on the board that can explain "barometric pressure"? Oops, almost typed bariatric. LOL Hope you have good restriction, without being miserable.
-
That's great! Now, please take it easy as it may be a few days before you feel restriction.
