Michelle, I'm so sorry about your friend! I think a lot of people are so desperate to lose the weight. And, in some cases, their insurance will only pay for the bypass. I know I seriously considered the bypass. But, fortunately, for forums like this I was able to get some factual information that helped me in my decision.

what is an average day of meals like.

I would really think about getting a fill. If you're doing well, I'd wait until after your cruise. Sometimes a fill takes a few days (or weeks) to kick in. You'd want to know what to expect. It would be pretty bad to be too tight and miserable on a wonderful trip. -
I got my 1st fill 8/2. It really didn't seem to do any good until yesterday.

There is also a liquid glucosamine, called Joint Care by Liquid Naturals. It has 2000 mg. gluco., 1200 chondroitin, 500 msm, and 50 collagen. (Can you tell I'm reading it off the bottle?) Does it do any good to use a velcro wrap on your knee at night when you're lying down?

Oh, and start eating your meals without drinking. That's a hard habit to break!
-
Alex, I think whatever amount of time and $$ you spend with your trainer will definitely be worth it. You're learning how to properly use those muscles and get the most for your workouts.
-
Wow, must have been something in the air yesterday! We were eating at Chilis and I was enjoying my grilled chicken breast. Wham! Got to the bathroom in time for relief. Note: Always check out where the bathroom is before you sit down!

Darcy, be sure that you're only drinking clear liquids the day before your scope. Milk, v-8 juice, or other colored liquids can keep them from getting a good picture.

Can we have NO vices!!! Bright, I love to read your postings! P.S. Be careful about swallowing gum. Claraluz had a problem with it getting stuck.

I've never been a breakfast eater, either. But that's probably why I "pigged out" come lunchtime. I usually have a protein shake for breakfast. To fat-free milk, add scoop of unflavored protein powder, 1 sliced banana, frozen strawberries (or whatever fruit's in the freezer). Blend well. Blend in a few ice cubes to make it thicker, like a smoothie. You're getting your protein, calcium, and fiber (from fruits). -
Has she had her surgery yet? Let's just hope that she's one of the lucky ones who don't have any serious after-surgery problems!
-
Good for you, girl! I really need to do something for abdominal and upper arms -- toning and strength. But I don't know what is good. I've also been afraid that abdominal exercises might "tear up something" related to the band. (Of course, this is from a person who hasn't done ANY kind of exercise for years! But I am NOW trying to walk and ride bike regularly.)
-
Alright girl, now start drinking as much Water as you possibly can. Get used to it and it will be a whole lot easier for you after surgery. And start walking, just leisurely around the neighborhood. Walking will help you before AND after surgery. I'm so HAPPY for you! :banana :banana :banana :banana

Amy, you'll do just fine! A stress test is just you walking on a treadmill with heart monitors attached for a certain length of time. The treadmill speed is gradually increased and the incline level. IT looks for any irregularities in your heart rythm. It's really a good test to have in your file for future reference and for your peace of mind.

Yeah, Cateringqueen!!! -
Rica, best of luck! It might be wise to use the crutches and give your knee a rest. I take Celebrex for arthritis and held off using it until my post-op visit. The dr. advised that I take a Prevacid (RX for reflux) before taking the Celebrex. I take it long before I know that I'll be lying down. Please take care of yourself!

Nancy, thanks for asking and Donali, thanks for the answers. Now if I can get brave enough to post pics. But I did learn how to do bunnies and bananas on Friday! This old dog just might be able to learn some new tricks yet!
-
Donali, you could wear those in public and look just fine! I am so proud of you! :Bunny :Bunny :Bunny

Getting ready to visit the PCP to get a referral for the band. Advice?
New Hope replied to kimster's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Kim, hang in there! You're doing the right thing. As far as getting upset at the drs. office, don't worry about it. We've all "been there and done that". My insurance first denied, then after my appeal, finally allowed it 8 months later. Just jump through all their hoops and get all those referrals! I'm betting on you! -
Jen, the very best of luck to you for an uncomplicated surgery and minimum pain recovery!
-
Yeah, Nancy! Now, don't swallow any gum!
-
I did another "quote" and it wasn't in bold letters. Why's that?
