One thing Philip has asked all of us to do is "Live happy and strong". Wonderful words of advice.
-
Philip, thank you so much, that even in your grief, you have taken the time to share these comforting words with us. A love like you two shared is a rare and special treasure. I pray your many happy memories protect and comfort you for many years to come.
-
No, Janie, Blossom always went by Blossom on here. (I knew her as Carolyn). She was a beautiful blonde Texas girl with a gentle heart.
-
Jenna, some surgeons do both gastric bypass and the lapband.

I was truly honored to have "talked" w/Blossom a lot. We shared many a laugh and many a tear. She and her husband were true soul mates - in every sense of the word. They absolutely adored each other. They had no children and had recently lost a dear sweet dog who had shared a long happy life with them. They had drawn up plans for a farmhouse w/ a wrap-around porch. They had purchased the perfect piece of property and spent all their spare time working on it. She often laughed of Philip driving that old tractor and how happy he was. Carolyn will be sorely missed but as Philip has said, she will always be with us. Thank you, Blossom, for being the precious person that you were and enriching each of our lives.

Yeah, Jamie, it's official! You're an honest to goodness Bandster! Please take care of yourself, sip, sip, sip, and walk, walk, walk. (((Hugs)))

Sharon, I sincerely hope you regain your health and happiness. We're all searching for the same goals. Best of luck to you! Please keep us updated. -
Are you on a liquid pre-surgery diet? Clear liquids (broth, tea, apple juice, etc.) or full liquids (cream soups, milk, etc.) You definitely have to drink more than just plain water! What has your surgeon suggested you do?
-
Wendy, you're probably officially becoming a bandster about now. Congratulations! Keep walking and sipping as much as you can. Hope you have a smooth recovery.
-
Jan, I think most obese people have a fatty liver. I did and my dr. had me go on a low glycemic diet. It was very easy to follow and was to shrink the liver. It was basically healthy foods that we should be eating any way. The surgeon doesn't want to run the risk of nicking your liver during the placement of your band. If you do a search, you should be able to pull up that diet. Hang in there! It will definitely be worth the effort.

Best of luck to you, Roxanna. We have other bandsters w/thyroid problems. You will probably get more responses if you delete the other duplicate threads that you have posted. This will cause less confusion to readers. -
Congratulations! How much weight are you wanting to lose? Please be sure that you have your AFTER care taken care of before you go. We want you to continue being a successful bandster.
-
There are other options....self-pays (financing available). Some have taken out a home equity loan. I'm sure you'll hear from others what they have done. Best of luck to you!
-
All of that is excellent exercise. How about taking the kids to the park, pushing them in the swing, see-sawing? Just the laughing and talking will do you a world of good! Weed your flowerbeds, spring cleaning, painting (in and out)....anything that gets you moving. When I first started walking, I'd come home and literally fall asleep on the bed as soon as I got still. I didn't think I'd ever get past that fatigued feeling. But just do a little bit more each time and gradually build up your endurance. You're not in any race, just go at your own pace.
-
Jasper, good for you for following your surgeon's instructions! He/she has those rules for a reason.

Carol, I've never seen that post. Perhaps it was on another forum. -
Well, that's what I was nicely asking. Kelly, you're right, LBT doesn't allow solicitation. So this thread is now locked.

Isn't that the bacteria that causes ulcers? You definitely want to get that cleared up! I believe you take a specific antibiotic. I think Ryan (whippledaddy) had to do that before he got his band. Best of luck to you!

Finally Getting My Band Tomorrow!!!!
New Hope replied to Jammin & Losin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yeah, but don't forget that Jamie already had a trial run last month, getting her gallbladder out! She's an old pro at this. (And Jamie, you don't want to be able to hear the guy say, "OK,Doc, she's under, proceed." LOL) Now's not the time to lie about your weight!! Get enough of that stuff to knock you out. LOL -
Are you a bandster or a solicitor? Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

Finally Getting My Band Tomorrow!!!!
New Hope replied to Jammin & Losin's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Jamie, stay away from the t.v. tonight...too many food commercials! And don't forget to shave your legs tonight. Why are you worrying about getting your beauty sleep? You know you won't be able to sleep anyway -- too excited! Stick a package of peanut butter crackers in there for your DH tomorrow. Mine about starved to death. I was there at 5:30 am, but didn't get on the o.r. table until 1 p.m I was o.k. with that, I wanted the surgeon to take his time on them so he'd do the same for me. -
walking and bicycling

Hey there! Banded 1 month
New Hope replied to Shannon's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good for you, Shannon! Keep up the great job! -
Jamie, I'm a simple cook. I moisten them w/water, and sprinkle them w/ Tone's Canadian Steak Seasoning, then grill them on an outdoor gas grill. Just don't overcook them, so they'll stay moist. You can also moisten them w/worchestershire sause first (but they'll be saltier). I find that seasoning mix in a large container at our local Sam's...a little goes a long way. It's also great to use as a rub for a brisket.
