Best of luck to both of you! You're wise starting some of those habits now. It will make it a lot easier for you after your banding.
-
I want to see a picture of you wearing your "Lucky Weigh-in" outfit.

Let the countdown begin! Be waiting to hear good things from you! -
Dr. Arturo Rodriguez - Any negative experiences?
New Hope replied to kimster's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Best of luck to you, Kim! I think "bullheadedness" comes in pretty handy some times. It sounds like you have realistic goals and that you will be a great Bandster. -
I was an "inflated balloon" for so long and now that some of the air has gone out, I'll be left w/ a lot of wrinkled skin. I guess that's one of the "perks" (LOL) of being older. But I certainly prefer this to the alternative!

The problem of having to get another fill dr. after our surgery can happen to any of us. If we move, our dr. moves or retires, etc. Hopefully, stringent guide lines can be enforced to prevent and hopefully eliminate "quacks" before someone's health has to be endangered! Leatha, I'm afraid that is just too much of a coincidence resulting in you having to be rebanded. Let's keep our fingers, eyes, and toes crossed that your current dr. got it right this time!

What beautiful kids! Your daughter looks a lot like your avitar pic. I know you're so proud of them and with just cause!
-
Wow, that Dr. needs to be run out of town! I bet he charges for a Fluro fill too! CB864, best of luck to you in finding out what the problem is AND in finding a competent Dr.

Paula, I don't think anyone was offended. I didn't even notice your comment. I have flabby arms and gut. So if I have to wear sleeves and untucked shirts, so be it. I'm just so glad to be on the "losing end" and feeling better.

Andrea's lap band in 5 days
New Hope replied to sheeanisland's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Andrea, you can still drink but you'll be a "cheap drunk" now. It won't take much to hit. You're planning on wearing a bikini? Those days are long gone for me. -

Zoe, the iodine comment was too funny and true! LOL! -
WOW, TERESA!!!! If your phone rings, you better answer it! It will probably be Inamed wanting you as their spokesperson! You were precious in your original picture, but your recent one really shows you've got Spunk! You are an absolute doll! I hope your hubby appreciates his new, ultra-concentrate wife. Your father-in-law must think that banding is the best thing he ever invested in. I am so PROUD of you! (...from your "other mother"):banana :banana

Christy, I'm not familiar with erosions. But I did want to encourage you to get "to the bottom of this". I hope that you will receive good news. Best of luck to you!

Woo, that sounds sexy! -
2 lb. gain - Yipes! Got the Crud, felt crummy, didn't exercise, ate too much soft foods. O.K., new week, fresh start. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!
-
Andrea, please don't take offense. I'm not picking on you. It's normal to be nervous. I've never met anyone who likes surgery. But please try to think of the end result. You're going to be so much healthier! (((Hugs)))
-
Alex, sounds like you had a wonderful time! So glad all went well. I've wondered about vacations , how they'll affect us. Plus, it must be nex to impossible just to get your water load in. And your oldest daughter starting 1st grade - what a milestone! Now, back to the salt mines. I know they'll be glad to see you back.

Paula, I saw a friend (surgical nurse) in the preop area right before I was wheeled into surgery for my band. She'd had the GP 3 years ago and had lost a ton of weight. But she had gained a chunk back. One of my last thoughts as they wheeled me off was, "Boy, I'm glad I'm getting a band." She's asked me how much weight I've lost so far. I can tell she's thinking, "Is that all?" But I don't want to lose so fast that my skin just hangs off of me - everywhere. I'm sure I'll have a saggy tummy, but hopefully the rest will have time to reshape by not losing so drastically.
-
Sue3 and Teresa, both of you are carrying a heavy (no pun intended) load - working, homelife, and going to school! Sending encouragement to both of you and a big pat on the back -- for a job well done!
-
62 lbs.!!! Wow, Teresa, I'm choking on my protein shake here! I can't even think of something that weights that much to get a visual! Amazing, simply amazing! I am so proud of you!!!!:Bunny :Bunny :Bunny :Bunny :Bunny :Bunny :Bunny

Congratulations,Jeanie, you have lost a pound for every single day that you've been banded! That is absolutely amazing! I get impatient too and want to hurry up and fix this. I have to remind myself that I didn't get in this shape overnight and it will take a while to undo. But we've already taken the first positive step. We were some of the lucky ones that were able to get a band. We WILL make it - one day at a time!
-
Andrea, please calm down!!!! You're going to make yourself sick before you even leave your house. Everything is going to be fine! You have a competent surgeon who's done this many, many times. You have excellent reports from several of his patients. Your flight to and from Mexico will be uneventful. The driver will not forget you. (This is how he feeds his family.) Your anesthesiologist will give you something for nausea. (They don't want you throwing up.) Your surgery will be routine. The little aches and pains will be less each day. You'll get through the liquid faze and survive. You'll be so busy trying to get all that water in and time will fly. Then, suddenly, one day, you'll realize that you have more energy and feel better than you have for years. Your clothes will get too baggy. You'll have to buy new ones that fit - in a smaller size! You'll start feeling better and better and better - physically, emotionally, and spiritually! You'll realize that you Love Your Band! I want you to smile and think about these dancing bananas as you "nod off" for your banding...:banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana :banana You're going to be fine!

And how old (err, I mean young) is our little Penelope? Hope you had a wonderful birthday!

You might double-check w/ your dr. about the amt. of Benefiber to use and when. The container directions say 1 to 2 tablespoons up to 3 times daily (or as dr. prescribes). Personally, I take it because of colon polyps (and family colon cancer history). I know I don't eat fiberous vegetables like I used to. Once you get on solids, you may have a problem w/ constipation. You can take a stool-softener gel tab for that. Wow, Fiber, hair loss, Vitamins, dry skin, indigestion, etc. As Rosanna Rosanna Danna (old Saturday Night Live) used to say, "It's always something!"
