Love this!!!! a-MAY-zing is awesome!!!

The pre-op diet is only 3 days. Very surprising when I read other posts that people are on liquids for 2 weeks. Next Friday I start with liquids for 2 meals and then a solid, that goes for Saturday, too. Then Sunday is all liquids and nothing after midnight. I feel lucky. If you are self-pay, the ball rolls really fast! Did you get to meet mls67 at the meeting?

Hi Carolena, You are welcome to join us at May 2007 Banders. You can search for the thread. It is a group of all us getting banded in May
-
It's great to hear that all of you that have stepped into BandLand are doing well! I like the name "May Flower", but understand that lack of meaning. We'll come up with something. I do like that when you go to other threads it comes up! We could get away from the "May" part. Shrinking Violets, doesn't mention when their surgery was in the name. Did that make sense? Good luck to the upcoming bandsters! I have 2 weeks from yesterday!! WOOHOO! I have my 2hr. appt tomorrow with the nurse and anethesiologist (sp.) Then Thursday is my appt. with the Dr. and then labwork. Time is just a ticking!!!

I'm glad you liked the lapband seminar. The only person I have talked with is Kathy Blair. She's listed in the packet as the first person to call. She is very informative. Maybe she can help.

Ragdoll, That is GREEEEAAAAT!!! Things always happen for a reason, so this must be meant to be!

23. (?) I want to be able to ride Roller Coasters with my family. We have annual passes to Universal, and although I can ride some, I can't ride the best ones. They have "special" seats for the bigger riders, but how embarassing is that? I stopped riding and I always check about weight restrictions, etc, before I get on them. Good luck to those getting "banded" tomorrow! My thoughts and prayers will be with you!!!!

Hi Tom and MLS, Sorry it's been a few days. I have my first appt. with Dr. Fusco on Thursday May 10. The day before, I have my appt with Melbourne Same Day Surgery. I am self-pay, but I received the money as a gift from my grandmother, so I didn't have to finance. The total I was given is $16,750. This doesn't include the nutritionist ($60) or the psychologist ($160). If you have insurance, $3700 of it is not billable to insurance. Keep in mind that the surgery is tax deductible. This amount includes fills and follow-ups for the first year. You both will enjoy the seminar. It is very educational.

HI Tracy, I totally agree with walking. I walked before the day was out with my c-section. The nurses were shocked that I wanted to move. So helpfully that will help with the lapband. I've got 23 more days!! My kids get out of school on the 23rd of May, so it will be great timing that I will no longer have to make lunches, look presentable, etc. I have great plans for the Summer.....losing weight, getting healthy and LOTS of activity. Its great to hear that you are doing well. What's your biggest complaint? Good Luck!

Thank you Faith! I found it within 15 minutes of posting. I really appreciate you giving me the thread!

Hi All, I am scheduled for surgery on 5/21. I found a link to a post-op checklist, but I am unable to access it. Does anyone know where I could get a checklist? I would like to be as prepared as possible. Thanks

Hi again MLS, I went to the seminar in April. I hope you can get into the one coming up!
-
I only have 3 days of a pre-op diet. 2 days are liquids for breakfast and lunch and then a regular dinner. The last day is all liquids and then nothing after midnight. I know I will be grumpy, but it's all worth it. Way to go all of you that are on a week on liquids!!

Loved the chart!!! What a GREAT idea!

Hi! I am from Melbourne. I am scheduled for the surgery on 5/21 with Dr. Fusco from Lifeshapes.
-
I haven't had the surgery yet. It is scheduled for 5/21. I am just waiting for my last few appts with Dr. Fusco.

Hi May Bandsters!!! I am scheduled for May 21st! I see there are several others with the same date. I only have 3 days of pre-op diet, so I think I'll be ok. Although I told my family to be prepared. They may want to get a hotel for those 3 days. I get a little grouchy when I'm hungry. He!He! I can't wait to hear how everything goes for the earlier dates in May! What a great group!

PCP-Primary Care Physician. I will see Dr. Fusco within 12 days before surgery. He is the pretty much the last one you see, because they want to make sure that you have been approved for the surgery by everyone else first. The nutritionist basically tells you what your diet will consist of for the first 6 weeks after surgery. Also what diet to follow 3 days before your surgery. It was great info! The psychologist just makes sure that you know what you are getting into. That you understand what will happen. Also talks a little about your family history, why and when you starting having weight issues. I actually spent more time with the nutritionist than the psychologist. Well, that great about the seminar. That's just next week.

No hoops. I went to the seminar at the beginning of April, which is a requirement and then made my decision. I am self-pay so that helps. I scheduled my PCP (done yesterday), nutritionist (last Monday) and then psychologist (last Wednesday). I spoke with Kathy Blair at Lifeshapes and she will schedule pre-op appts. with Dr. Fusco, etc. 12 days before surgery. I think it has been very easy up to this point and I am very excited. Have you been to the seminar yet?

Hi everyone, My name is Melissa and I am scheduled for surgery on 5/21. I have already seen a nutrionist and I will see the psychologist tomorrow then my PCP next Tuesday. I have been lurking for a few weeks, but thought it was time to say Hello. I am very excited and nervous about it. I know I can do it, but then I read other postings and get worried. I really don't want to fail again. Any tips? Thanks and I look forward to chatting more.
