  6. I decided on WLS last December. Since then I have been on several programs. Each had a reason Jan and Feb-- on my own. Cut down portions and did a Protein meal replacement for lunch on work days. Mar-Aug. -- medically supervised program: 3-4 oz lean high quality Proteins, veggies, some carbs, lots of Water. Sept Pre- op liquid diet. 3-4 Protein shakes per day and lots of water Oct 3 ----- sleeve Surgery. 1 week of Clear liquids, 3 weeks of thick liquids. Nov. Soft proteins ground chicken, ground turkey , tuna, cottage cheese Dec - lean proteins. Chicken turkey fish etc. no beef, pork , or veal. I am grateful for the help I got along the way. I have all of these programs in my bag of tricks. I can, and do mix and match them to control what I eat. Next week I get steak! Woo hoo! I have lost 65 pounds in 2013. 35 pounds more to go. I feel great. This has been a life changing experience. I wish all of you a Happy, Healthy, and Successful. 2014!

3 weeks post-op: Pizza and Pasta?!

I am 3 months out from surgery. 3 weeks is way too soon to be eating out. You will get there in time. Think 2-3 months post- op. I used to love to go out to restaurants. Now I almost dread it. I am at the least concerned. When I eat at home I am 100% in control. Out I have way less control. I try to look up the menu on line and plan ahead, and, look for good items for me. Once I asked friends to change restaurant for me. They were very gracious about it. I just know : I'll be eating less, probably from the appetizer menu, Bringing some food home Leaving some on the plate. Recently I met 2 friends at a pizza shop for lunch. I knew pizza was not for me. I checked out the menu, told the girl about my surgery and " Pre ordered " a meat ball sub........ Hold everything except 2 meatballs. She was cool with it. My friends understood.
  8. I am uncomfortable with the desperate tone of your post. I decided on W!S a year ago. My insurance company required a 6 month medically supervised program, it took me 2 months to get into the program. I was irked at first, because I wanted the surgery. In the long run. The 8 month wait was the right thing to do. I lived the "sleeve" life style. It got my into the groove. I lost 40 pounds before the operation. I am proud of it. I can tell you the sleeve is, as we say " a tool". One part of your weight loss plan. I cal also tell you losing weight was easier before the sleeve. There was room for errors, no pain, no timing liquids, etc. I am glad I did the sleeve. I have lost 25 pounds post -op,, in just under 3 months. Looking forward to 2014. And continued weight loss. Slow and steady is my plan. I plan on living a long life. No rush. I'll get there.
  9. I have yo - yo dieted for 30 years. 1 year ago I decided to go for WLS. I thought I wanted a band... After research I decided on a sleeve. My insurance company and doctor wanted me to lose weight before surgery. I did. I lost 40 pounds Pre op. I questioned my self at that point. If I can lose 40 pounds.... Do I need surgery? 30 years of history tells me I do. After losing 40 pounds I COULD go out and eat things bad for me........ POST SURGERY ..... I CANNOT.------ at least not with out a lot of pain! I an do happy with my decision. It is really a life changer.

    Found an interesting Blog

I had a sleeve nearly 3 months ago. I am very happy with it. Had a complication. My heart went into A -Fib. Taking mads for it now. I have cardio aversion scheduled next month. I hope it works. If it does not. I will have exchanged a high probability of heart attack for a low probably of a stroke. A good deal in my mind. No surgery or procedure is with out risks. You have to weigh the risks/ rewards. Good luck.

    Will it ever stop!

The " official charts" are a joke. I am a 5' 10" man with a large frame. The " charts" say I should be between 130-160 pounds. Have you ever seen a normal 5' 10" man that was 130 pounds. Hw= 285 Cw= 223 Goal weight. 185-200. By Spring 2014. If I lose 85-100 pounds, I'll be a normal healthy man.

I don't know what to say about her. I have had some negative push back from people I would have least expected it from. They letter came around. I and everyone here have struggled and lost the the struggle to " do it on our own". YOU. IT IS ALL ABOUT YOU. NO ONE BUT YOU. You have to do what right for YOU. I don't know if you should forgive her..... But screw her. Do what works for you. The person that gave me the most shit before, Has changed and is now one of my biggest fans. Screw everyone. Do what works for YOU.

  23. Good show Lyn. I are Miralax For Constipation. Works well.
  24. My recovery was similar. Heart rate spiking. A-Fib, controlled with meds. Other than that.. Pretty smooth recovery. My doctor is very conservative, so my foods have been brought on slowly. Ok by me. Never a problem. I ate too much over Thanksgiving. Good to know what the limits are.... Back on the program now. Soooooo happy to be back. Follow doctors instructions and remember it is for the rest of your life..... Not a day or week.
  25. Wow sounds like you had a time. I'm glad it worked out in the end. Congratulations I am down 60+ pounds from highest weight. I feel 20 years younger. Best thing I ever did for my self.
