Congratulations &,Happy Birthday!

I have fx a rib twice in my life & I know that it is awful painful, every breath hurts. The last time was just over a yr ago & it took about 6 wks (and a good supply of Percocet) before I was feeling better. Don't do too much too soon, listen to your body & your Dr. So sorry, best wishes for a speedy recovery.

You & I had surgery on the same day. I too was feeling that way for awhile. I had my first post-op appt Monday & my surgeon thought it was because I wasn't getting enough calories even though I was following the nutritionist's guidelines exact. I added another (approx) 200 daily calories & it made a huge difference the last few days. My Dr said I should be between 800-1000 right now. I hope there's more pep in your step soon

I am still kinda new myself but aside from being very informative if the members are dysfunctional then they certainly put the "fun" in it. Welcome! -

New bandie looking for support :)

Phenix, I was told not to focus too much on weight loss until after my first fill, that the first month is really a time for the healing process. I started the pre-op diet 1 month in advance just to see if I could do it & ended up bringing my BMI down to 31 so I have just been following the rules & continuing to educate myself. As far as 40lbs, did that include weight loss from the pre-op diet too? Seems like a lot but like you said, we all are different. I have got on the scale since my surgery (the 7th) but it has fluctuated a lot which I heard was normal due to Water retention. My first post-op appt is Monday so we'll see what she says....I'm still new at this too. I'm sure you're doing fine. Sent from my ADR6410LVW using LapBandTalk -

My Dr had me on clear liquids & 5 protein shakes a day for the first week. Now I'm on 2-3 shakes daily & a pureed diet. Then its 2 wks of soft food (mushies) and by wk 5 unto a regular diet but not all Dr's are the same. I have a list to follow from the nutritionist. -
I have a rather short torso & I am finding it uncomfortable to wear a bra post op due to the bottom of the bra being against the edge of the area where I'm still swollen by my port. Underwires are out & I know a lot of people like those genie bras but I found them to be even worse. Has any one else had this problem? Sent from my XT907 using LapBandTalk

Wow, 8 wks?! I lost 27 lbs pre-op & was already my the last hooks. I took the measurments & saw I'd should be shopping for a different size, I wonder if that will be even different 8 wks from now? And here is something I have wondered for yrs.....why do they always put the bigger bras on the bottom of the racks, don't they realize it is harder for us to get down there? This was even before I was overweight...I swear I woke up at age 11 w/these things...poor girls aren't always what they are cracked up to be . Thanks for the replies, I did find some comfy ones by Danskin today. I used to have great luck at Fashion Bug, now that they are out of buisness I will miss them when I seriously need to stock up.

Happy Valentine's Day! I was banded on the 7th & every day has became a little easier. You say you hope you're not taking in too much Fluid, I was told no more than 8 oz per hour. Best wishes Sent from my XT907 using LapBandTalk -
Were they the same size as pre-op?

Pulling sensation from port site/area
Sunnyd623 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 4 days post-op & have been extremely happy with the way things have been going so far. I feel I am ready to venture out but I noticed that I often still "hold" my port area in supportive manner much of the time. It is not as painful as it was but has like a pulling feeling if not supported. I noticed if I am walking & not holding it that my shoulders are somewhat hunched forward like I am being pulled forward. I know the site will be sore for awhile & that this area also includes the muscle the port was sewn to & it's going to take awhile to heal, I just don't want to look like a idiot (in public) holding the area all the time. -
Pulling sensation from port site/area
Sunnyd623 replied to Sunnyd623's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, I figured it would be sensitive & slow to heal, its the only area I still have swelling. One thing is that I'm just concerned with what type of comments/questions I will receive if I continue to "hold" the area. Sent from my XT907 using LapBandTalk -

What kind of exercises did you do at the gym just 4 days post-op? Sent from my XT907 using LapBandTalk -
Is it the norm for the port to be above the largest incision? My surgery was on the 7th & that is the only place that I have experienced pain, I thought it was my port. Now, when I lay down I can feel a hard bump just beside it in the center of my abdomen about 5" above my belly button & this is where the real deep pain is coming from. I'm not sure where my port is, I asked the recovery room nurses before I was discharged & they said they weren't sure & that my surgeon had just gone began her next surgery.
-
I was banded this morning and was pleasantly surprised that I have had any gas pain, just some soreness & discomfort around the port incision. I have been able to drink fluid w/o any nausea but I have not been able to urinate once. When they discharged me they said if I still had not gone after 12 hrs to give them a call. It was already such a long day, I'll follow their instructions but I really don't want to drive back to have a catheter inserted, I don't have temp or any other abnormal reactions,,,,,,any thiughts?
-
Even though I did not experience any gas pain, this pain where the port is located is no joke! I know its only been two days but I swear it seems to be getting worse. I don't think it is anything abnormal...... but, d#*!

I left a message with the answering service for my surgeon & before she called back I was able to go twice ,

Any February 2013 Bandsters?

In regards to taking something for comfort I would suggest a pillow for the ride home. Holding it helped ease the discomfort for any bumps that were hit.
