I had revision from band to sleeve on August 17. I have lost about 18 pounds which seems pretty good to me. I feel like I am learning to eat all over again. I seem to be doing pretty good with getting my protein in with the Genepro and I struggle a bit with the water. Last week I began to feel nausea and I realized I was eating too much. If I stick to 3 to 4 ounces I feel fine. My surgeon has advanced my diet as I can tolerate. I can eat salad or, anything really, just not much of it. My cravings are under control and I can have small amounts of sugar, like one Hershey kiss, and it does not seem to throw me into the trenches of hell of increasing my cravings for bad choices. I watch my macros which I have set for 20% carbs, 30% fat and 50% protein. For the most part I am hitting that or getting close enough. I am trying to establish life long eating habits without having foods that are completely removed from my diet. Eating out is hard because I tend to waste so much food. People say to save it and eat it later however I usually will never get to eating it because I just do not eat very much. I think I am going to have to eat 4 to 6 small meal/snacks a day to get my needs met. I am up to about 5 to 600 calories a day, but I know that is not sufficient, so I try to increase as I can. I know my body is in starvation mode because I have not moved on the scale for about 3 weeks. I am taking my Flintstone multi and a vitamin D daily and I also have some calcium chews. I do see a nutritionist but have not been able to get in since my surgery. Does this look like I am doing things correctly?

My experience so far with sleeve (6 weeks in)
hope2 replied to jultrim18's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Jultrim it is okay and normal to feel this way. I think I have read on this site a million times this same feeling. It is learning to eat all over again. I too struggle with food; always have, but now it is different. I am learning to eat protein first just like you. I try to have a bite of my old favorite foods and they are just not the same anymore; you know, just not comforting and fun like they used to be. I was to do things differently than I have in the bast and establish better eating habits. You are not alone! I feel your pain. We can do this!! -
For me it is not about living my life the same way that got me where I was at. I do not want to go from one fad diet to the next. I want to be "normal" where I just live life and not have to say stuff like "no carbs". I want to just eat a small amount of food and enjoy it and move on. I am doing really well making certain when I put food in my mouth it has some nutritional value.

revision - band to sleeve - how are you doing?
hope2 replied to IDONTWANTTOGROWUP's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
My revision was on August 17. I have lost about 18 pounds. I am still learning how to eat correctly with my sleeve. For example for the past few days I have not felt well, kind of sick to my stomach. I realized that although I am only eating about 4 ounces at a time I am still over eating. Today I ate less ounces at a time and things felt much better. l had lost most my weight with the band before it failed and luckily for me I had my revision before I gained too much back. My revision weight was and I am about at 164. I am about 5'1.5. I that 18 pounds has made the world of difference in how I feel about myself. I still am and probably always will need to use the Genepro protein because I am not much of a meat or egg person. In saying that I am trying to consume less carbs. So right now I am focusing on changing my diet. I am not on a diet I am just logging everything so I can see what I eat impacts how I feel and the cravings. I am very happy with my decision to not have the bypass over the sleeve and hope I will never need to take that step. -
I avoid artificial sweeteners. I do get my protein in with Genepro in my coffee and with eggs, chicken, etc. Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app

Any shorties out there under 200lbs

Surgery: 8/18/18 revision from band to sleeve. I started at 182.7 and am now at 166.5. It seems to be slower than most but better than I could do on my own so I am happy with my results. I will begin to exercise next week. I have been at a stall for a couple of weeks. Good luck! -
I started with a 33 bmi. I have lost about 20 pounds so far. I watched my mother struggle with her weight and the weight related illness and knew I did not want that. I too could lose weight but never kept it off. I would have to go on extremely low calories to lose weight. I ruined my metabolism and think this surgery will save me from a life of diabetes, heart disease, joint replacements, and pain. I do not tell people I had the surgery because most would not understand and to be honest I was embarrassed I could not do it on my own and keep it off. Thank you for the post!

I will start by saying I have an extremely high tolerance for pain. That and I have family that I have seem struggle with addiction. I would rather be a little uncomfortable than go through what they do on a daily basis. I chose to have no narcotic pain medication after I woke up from surgery. I took Tylenol and used heat and walking to work through the pain. Honestly it was not bad at all. My surgery was a revision from a lap band to a sleeve and I was told it would be more painful than if I was just getting the sleeve. I think when you allow your body to push through pain you heal faster. That is just my opinion with absolutely no scientific evidence to prove it. I stayed in the hospital for 3 days to make sure I had my fluid intake good enough to keep the progress at home. Best of luck to you!

You should be fine given no complications. I went back to work day 3. I ended up taking an additional day off late in the week from pure exhaustion but have been okay since. Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app

I am 5 day post op from revision from band to sleeve. Yesterday I bought an Adwalla mango protein drink and only after a few sips Bam off to the toilet. Today I made a packet of Tom Yum broth and it has sugar and I had the same results. Is this dumping and will it be this way forever? Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app

any sleevers in their late 50's
hope2 replied to tahoegirl96118's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 53 and will be sleeved tomorrow morning. I am so so happy to see others my age have such great success. I was banded in 2011 due to early menopause weight gain that I could not seem to lose and an uncontrollable appetite. I would eat and be able to eat again in 10 minutes. I knew what this was leading to since I seen others in my family suffer from illnesses due to obesity. I just did not want to go down that path but could not do it on my own. The band worked for a short time. I lost 50 pounds before it started giving me issues. Ultimately I just was so tired of slimming I wanted to get it revised. So here I am! I pray all of us have great success and health in the future. -
How much time off from work?
hope2 replied to Swanton_Bomb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am planning on going back on day 4. I have a job that is very flexible to my needs. Saying that if I need more time I can take it. I went back to work day 3 after a hysterectomy. I am the type of person who needs to move. Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app -
You have to let me know how you are doing after you have it done. I am also a revision from band to sleeve but mine will be on the 17. I am so scared for some reason.

Okay so this is getting real!! Had my pre-op today. I will go in for a scope on August 13 to check for damage the lap band caused. Surgery scheduled for August 17 and just talking about it freaks me out. I am excited but omg I am so scared. I thought I was going to have the bypass but the doctor thinks the sleeve is a better option for me.

Has anyone on here been a “low” BMI OF 30?
hope2 replied to Mtgirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am at the lower end now. I too am getting a revision from the band to the sleeve. I am tired of the up and down both physically and mentally. I do not want to gain the weight I have lost back. I also don't want to continue with the yo yo dieting. I understand you completely; before I got the band I was up and down 40 pounds. I am not sure how quickly we will loose due to the lower BMI, I just know I am ready. I wish you well; my surgery is August 17, 2018. -
I have been working towards this day for a bit over a year. Tricare have you do many pre-op classes even though I am a revision due to complications. My lap band never really worked the way I anticipated. Either too tight or not enough restriction. The band has taught me some very poor eating habits. I am nervous about failure, health issues, toilet issues, gas issues, dumping issues; what if I cause myself irreversible health issues. I am 53, worried about my health when I am older. I guess..I admit...i am scared. I am suppose to be happy, what is wrong with me. [emoji53] Sent from my SM-N920V using BariatricPal mobile app
