Looking for RNY Buddy in or near Sarasota, Tampa FL areas
CA712 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I am looking for a buddy in the Florida area, someone who is going to have the surgery or has had it already. My surgery is on March 11th so it is just a few days from now. I just hought it would be great to share experience and help each other thru this process. Thanks -
I am 4 weeks post op, about 8 days after my surgery I started to have pains in my lower stomach that reminding me of the cramps I used to get before my period. And, about 2 days after that I started having a period. It has now been 10 days and I am still having a period. As anyone else who is post menipausal experience anything that this. I am so confused about this. It has been about 5 years since I stopped having periods and now this is happening. Someone told me that when you are extremely overweight that estrogen gets stored in the fat cells. Could it be that the estrogen is now being released from my fat cells and this is what is happening to me. I have lost a grand total of 31 pounds in one month. Does anyone have any thoughts about this and has any women who is post menopausal experience this too. thanks for any information you can give me. I am rally at a loss and do not know what to think.

Sassy it is so good to hear from you too. It has been awhile and I am happy to see you are doing well. I still am having problems with my hubby who just wants to eat out ALL THE TIME. I will never figure this out in my life time why he is hell bent on this when he knows I cannot. I guess I am just having a bad day but it has been this way since Dec 1st. I really need to get to a support group this month. Just to let everyone know, I was on Mobic before my surgery for arthritis, I took one pill a day. After surgery I told my pill each day but this time I have been having to crush it and mix with apple sauce. I know have been told that I should have been off of this the day after my surgery and should not be taking it at all because it will cause a hole in my pouch. I asked it I can take it in liquid form and was told "NO WAY" Not sure what to do for my pain, I hope I did not create a new problem for myself.

Good to hear that everyone is doing better these days. I have decided to go back on full liquids tomorrow to help with weight loss. Since the holidays it has been going slowly and that is my fault. It sure does feel good to be down over 100 pounds and I need to get rid of the last 65 pounds ASAP. Now is the time of year to just get back on track. I am going to support group at the end of this month. This is a new support group for me and I sure hope it is a good one. I will let you know. Ismereno and Linda you are my hero's. Cheryl

2 weeks after surgery what to eat
CA712 replied to liiarod's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 9 months post op but at 2 weeks post op I was all liquids. I drank Protein drinks that were recommended to me by my nutritionist, I tried to drink Water, even hot water (it was very soothing to my stomach. I drank diet cranberry juice, hot chicken broth or beef broth. Week 3 I added yogurt to the mix. Dannon fit and light yogurt. Hope this helps. -
Linda I am so so sorry to hear this, I do know that some folks can have a few problems as much as 1 or 2 months post op. If you are still having trouble walking in the next few days I would call your surgeon's office and report this and see what they tell you. Please keep me posted, can you try to walk around the inside of your house a few times a day and see if that helps decrease the pain. Take care and let me know.

Lynda, Thank you for your response. I am not sure what is going on with me, I am 9 months post op and you could be right, I am feeling stressed for some reason or maybe I am picking up vibs that I don't like. I have lost 110 pounds and some of my family and a close friend have not said one word about any of my weight loss. I keep telling myself it does not matter I am doing this for myself. My friend is now trying to drop weight and wants me to be overjoyed because she lost 20 pounds. Not sure what to think. Thanks again Lynda. Cheryl

I just have one question to ask to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing. I had my surgery 9 months ago and for the past 2 months I have been told that I am short tempered. I also have been told that I get mean went talking to a few family members. This is not the person I used to be and I am not sure where all this is short temper and meanness is coming from. Has this happened to anyone else?? Not sure how to handle this. thanks again for your help.

Hello Boomers, I want to wish everybody a Happy New Year. It has been awhile since I have been here but I am now back on track after the past holiday. Too many dinners and Cookies and I see that I have gained 3 pounds over the holidays. This holiday weight gain is the lowest of my life so I am thankful. I gave myself a few treats and did not work out like I usually do but I am back and focused so I can complete my weightloss journey. I started to get my Water intake up today. I made a pitcher of water and added the slices of 2 fresh lemons. I let the water set for almost an hour before I started and I must say it tasted great. I have also bought a bag of red grapefruit and will use that in my water tomorrow. And, starting tomorrow I will start my Protein liquids again. Take care and it is good to be back, Cheryl

Hello to all, I am having my sleeve surgery on March 11th and I am very exicted. I am just checking to see if anyone else in the great state of Florida is also having surgery in March. I live near Sarasota and have lived here for about 3 years. I moved to Florida from Pennsylivania and I am loving the beaches and beautiful weather. I started my pre-op diet 7 days ago and have lost 12 pounds so far. If you are interested in making a connection let me know. Hope to hear from you.

I am 8 months post op and I am so tired of meat. I have gotten into the habit again of relying on Protein shakes to get enough protein in. I do eat eggs but only 3 times a week, I hate pork, will not eat it nor will I eat lamb or veal but I was that way before surgery. I will eat cottage cheese (low fat), cheese and yogurt. I guess this is my new life and I need to get used to it. UGG, How many veggies are you getting in each day? 1/2cup, 1 cup and how many fruits? I have 1/2 to 1 cup of fruit at Breakfast and that is all. Does that sound too low to anyone? thanks for the feedback. Cheryl

Hello to all, it has been awhile since I have been on this site. I have had some personal problems that needed taken care of and was out of town. I am happy to be back. I just want to say hello to Sassy and Linda. Linda I will send you a message in the next couple of days. I also see a few new names of the board that is great. We really need to help each other with the upcoming holiday and all that good food that will be available to us. Many temptations to overcome. I am just wondering how some of you are going to handle these temptations. I know we can make it thru the season and still have a wonderful holiday. What are some of the things you are going to eat and drink? If you have any to share please do so, I know I am not the only one looking for good ideas. Blessing to all of you and I will be checking back tomorrow. Cheryl

CA712 replied to Mid West's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is very interesting information and I will check it out on my next visit. Thanks for the information. There are times I seem to be dumping and I am just eating what I am allowed to eat so I am not sure what the problem can be. Thanks again. -
I am 8 months post op and I am having the same issues; I am glad that I am not the only one experiencing this.

Losing Weight Causing Me To Rethink Being In My Current Relationship
CA712 replied to bs8387's topic in The Gals' Room
I would drop him like a wet blanket, continue loosing weight and keep on target with my career goals buy yourself a pair of leather pants and find a real man who is worthy of your love. This guy is just going to keep you down and when you have lost all your weight he will find something else to be critical of you but he has NO PROBLEM living off of you with free rent and food. Good luck and for once in your life love yourself more it is not be selfish to take care of yourself sounds like you are in a bad situation that will only get worse. -
Tilly if you are only 3 weeks out from surgery I would continue to take the liquid. I would call your doctor to double check and make sure if you can take a pill. You want to make sure you keep your new stomach safe.
-
Can you tell me what you are eating and drinking? Are you waiting 30 minutes after you drink to eat and 30 minutes after you eat. What liquids are you drinking? If it keeps up I would call your doctor.

So happy to find this geop, it is taking me some time to get used to the new layout of this website. Congratualtions to all on your weight loss surgeries and as time moves forward it will get better. It has been almost 8 months since my surgery and I have had 2 stalls along the way. I had my 1st one about 6 weeks post op and another one at 3 months. So for those of you having stalls hang in there the weight will come off and make sure you get enough Protein each day. I am down 101 pounds as of today and I am so excited but I need to keep on track since I have another 79 pouns to go. I have already boxed up 4 boxes of clothes and I am just now getting into clothes I have not worn in years and they seem to bee a little big on me but I need to keep them for awhile since they are all I have to wear. It is so good to see the Sixties group. I hope everyone has a great day.

I am really sorry to hear that you are having these problems. I had my surgery 7 months ago and every once in awhile I experience the same issue. I have learned to take a deep breath and try to relax as much as possible during this time. You will have stomach pain, maybe even sweating and rapid heart beats. Try to rethink what you ate that has set your system off. I sometimes ate nothing wrong and for some reason I dumped and I have heard others say the same thing. It could be that your system is just not ready for some the foods that you are eating and drinking. Once you are finished with the dumping it is very important to NOT eat anything for several hours so your pouch has time to relax. I would then make sure that you drink something warm like hot Water with lemon or hot decaf tea nothing cold. Hot drinks will calm your stomach down even more. If it gets too bad and you dump all the time call your surgeon's office and get some help. Our new systems are so delicate and I am sure things will improve over time. Good luck.

Rude is never ok.
CA712 replied to futuremrsparker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This guy is just a hateful person and can see how wonderful you look. I am glad you unfriended him on facebook he will get the message because I am sure he tried looking you up again since he left that message. He is jealous that you have taken care of yourself and has a need to make you feel bad so he can feel good about himself. He knows he is a loser, I know he is a loser and anyone who saw that posting knows he is a loser as a human. You are the WINNER not him. I hate people like that. -
I sure hope this site is not going to shout down. I think there is enough of us here to make it work. Sassy, I hope you are doing well these days. make sure you get your 64oz of water in each day and if that is inpossible mix your water with a fruity protein mix and or crystal light anything to get to 64oz a day. Also drinking your protein shakes counts towards your 64oz. Linda, I had my surgery on 3/11 and have lost 98 pounds to date, I just loved eating, eating was the one thing my family loved to do. My weight before surgery was 331# and 7 months later I am down 98 pounds with 83 more to drop. My beginning BMI was 58.9 and that is considered super obese, now my BMI is 42 that is considered morbidly obese. I need to drop another 5 pounds to be considered just obese. This surgery has saved my life and if I had to do it again I would. Every week I get closer to my goal, I look in the mirror these days and I am just starting to see my old self again. I had sleep apnea and on a clap machine, I could not walk to the mailbox without being out of breathe. I was a diabetic. Today, I do not need my clap machine, I do not get out of breathe when I walk down the street infact I take water aerobics 3 times a week, my blood pressure was 190/130 and now it is 110/70 already. I could go on and one. Well take care and congratulations.
