March 11th is just around the corner and I really am getting nervous but I do see that most of you March sleevers feel the same way, excited and nervous at the same time. I had a rough weekend, everyone in my family wants toe eat out and this is making me crazy. Even some of my friends get made that I will not go out to eat with them. I just do not want any temptations at this point and even after my surgery. I just need to NOT think about food. I hope my so called support family and friends stop and be the support I need.

Hello to all March Sleevers, I have been on my pre-op liver detox diet for 7 days now got on the scale this morning and have lost 12 pounds I am so excited but it has been hard. Giving up caffeine has been so hard for me since I am a coffee addict. So many restaurants do not serve Sprite Zero or caffeine free coke or pepsi so I am stuck drinking water ( Iike I should anyway) or unsweetened ice tea (that I hate). I have been reading some of your posts and see that some of you are questioning if you should have this surgery. I to have tried so many high protein low carb diets and have had much success but the weight just does not stay off. I am using this surgery as a TOOL to help me lose the wieght and to keep it off just by having a smaller stomach. I have heard overtime the stomach does stretch and weight can go back up and that it is not unusual to gain about 8 to 10% of your weight. But, the truth I need to drop 140 pounds and if after 3 years post op I again back about 10 to 20 pounds I will still be happy. I hate what I weight now and not being able to keep up with my family is a real depressing thing for me right now. The bottom line is I will never be able to eat like I want to and this surgery will help me keep on track. I wish everyone good luck and lets keep in touch. Supporting each other is going to be everything.

Blow Is Just an Expression - CPAP and Sterilized Water
CA712 commented on joatsaint's blog entry in Gastric Sleeve Surgery - An Unexpected Journey
I have my surgery on March 11th as of today, I use a cpap machine at night and it has been a little over a year since I started using it. I am so hoping and praying that some point after my surgery I can get rid of the cpap machine. I thank God for it but at the same time I am sick of it. I see lots of people with cpap machines that are not overweight but I am still hoping anyway. Your picture is too funny, I know where you are coming from. -
My surgery is scheduled for March 11th, I can not wait to get this done!!!! I live in Sarasota, Florida. Congratulations to all March Sleevers.

Well March sleevers, time is marching on it is already February 11th and I am now 4 weeks away from my surgery March 11. I went to my family doctor this morning and had my blood work completed and on Thursday will be going for my chest x-ray. I will start my pre-op liver detox on Feb 15th so things are moving along. I need to go grocery shopping sometime this week to get all the legal foods in for my detox. I hope everyone else is doing fine today, have a great week.

Hello to all, I am having WLS in about one month and right now I am jumping thru all the hoops to get paperwork, forms and tests completed before I see my surgeon on Feb. 26th. I just wanted to take a survey to see how many folks who have had the Sleeve surgery had/have at least 100 to 140 pounds to lose. I have taken the time over the past 3 years to research all types of WLS and based on my own research have decided that the Gastric Band had too many problems, and the gastric bypass was a little too scary for me. The sleeve seems the better route to go since you are disconnected and then reconnected . I am in my early 60's and need to lose around 140 pounds. I am just trying to see if anyone else out there has to lose this much weight and is doing it with the sleeve. Thank you so much for your input regarding this and good luck to everyone.

Hi measureofme, can you please tell me what the ten day phenomenon is? I am having my surgery in March. Thank you.
-
well, I did get in 64oz of water yesterday and it really was a job for me to do this. I even had a diet coke and then remembered no soda. I am a person that has at least 2 to 3 diet sodas a day and it is really going to be hard to give up ( I just like the bubbles I guess). When I think about it maybe it is a good idea to give up soda, old habits are hard to break but if diet soda is off the list of drinks after surgery then it will be gone. Just don't want any tummy problems.

Anyone with pending March surgery date?
CA712 replied to GrannyGoes4it's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello to all, This upcoming week I will be jumping thru many hoops for my WLS. My surgery date as of today is March 11th and I hope there are no set backs. Monday I get all my blood work done, Thursday I have to get a chest x-ray and I am hoping by now my family doctor has sent in my letter of necessity. I need to call my surgeon's office this week and check to make sure they have received it. I also have asked for several of my medications to be changed over to liquid, I wanted to make sure this was taken care of before my surgery. I have a 2nd visit with my surgeon on Feb 26th. I am scared for sure and excited all at the same time. I keep second guessing myself and I need to stop doing that. Good luck to all of you and lets keep in touch since we are all on the same path. Its good to have folks that understand what you are going thru. -
I am sorry to hear that you are depressed and wondering if you made the right decision. This is a really serious , life changing surgery and I think reality is just starting to set in with you. there is no going back. I have read a few posts from others that have stated the same things you are and I think this is pretty normal at this point; just give yourself a week or two and you will start to feel better. Once you start to see the weight come off I think you will realize you made the right decision for yourself. My surgery is in 1 month from now and I am still wondering if I am doing the right thing but I know I have to do this in order to get my life back. I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired. Your mom is a great support system to you and you have medical folks around you to help too. Good Luck and I will send happy, positive thoughts your way. I know I am going to need all the support I can get when I have my surgery. Take care and think positive.

Hello, I have read your post and know how you feel. I have tried every diet out there with no long term success. I have been thinking of weight loss surgery for the past 3 years and have had so many people tell me not to do it. I know they have my best interest but they are not me. I feel that I am in a prison with all this fat: I can not walk for very long, I do have sleep apnea for the past 2 years and I have to use a cpap machine at night for me to keep breathing. My knees hurt all the time, I get out of breathe too easily I could go on and on but I will stop. Like you have not told too many people, I just trust a few people with my upcoming surgery. I have only told those who need to know. To have this procedure you have to jump thru lots of hoops, lots of paperwork and running around and many phone calls. I have already gone to a meet and greet the surgeon meeting. Filled out lots of forms. I have blood work and chest x-ray the week of Feb 11th. I will start my pre-op liver detox on Feb 15th. I will follow this for 2 weeks before my surgery. I will have a 2nd visit with the surgeon on Feb 26th so all my forms and tests must be completed before that visit. I am so scared and excited at the same time. Reality is just starting to kick in that I am really doing this. I hope we can become friends going thru this process, I have a husband that is hard to talk to as well and I am not sure he is going to be a great support system for me. Going thru this we need a positive support system. We can help each other thru this chapter in our lives. Take care.

Congratulations, you made it thru surgery. How are you feeling at this point? Did they have you walking yet? Good luck with your recovery and let me know you are doing. I am having mine on March 11th.

Since March 11th is just around the corner I have decided to start working on my water intake. I have read that dehydration is a big problem for lots of folks so I decided today is the day to work on this. I have already drank 16oz and it is already 1:28 in the afternoon. I need to get my next 16oz in by 3pm and drink the rest at dinner and while watching TV tonight. This really is tougher than I thought it would be. I will let you know if I get it all in by tonight. Is there anyone else having problems drinking this much water?

Hello to all, I am new to this website and I have finally found a group that is having WLS in March. I am having mine on March 11th. I live in Sarasota, FL and Dr. Alfredo Fernandez is my surgeon. I will have my second visit with him on Feb 26th so I am now busy getting all my paperwork, forms and blood work to him before the 26th of this month. He still wants me to have the gastric bypass but he know I want the sleeve. I wish all of you much success with your upcoming surgeries. I know how you feel, I am happy and yet scared as hell right now and the closer it gets the more afraid I am but I know I need help and everything else I have done has not worked for me in the long run. Everything on me hurts my knees, my back, just walking is an effort and have been on a clap machine for over a year now. I am just sick of how I feel and how I look. I am depressed because I am fat and fat because I am depressed. I need to end on going cycle. I hope we all stay in contact with each other.

Do you like being overweight?
CA712 replied to Suzannesh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Suzannesh, thanks for getting back to me, it was good to hear from you. You have come along way and I really hope I do as well as you. Support is so important with WLS. It is good to hear from someone who understands how I feel these days and the struggle just to get from one day to another. My family doctor has not been supportive of me getting this surgery but my endocrinolgist is happy I am. I see my family doctor this week to set up appointment for all my blood work and EKG. I am bring my husband with me for moral support. I sure hope my dr does not give me too much of a problem and makes me second guess myself(Again). I really have made up my mind and I am going thru with the surgery. I will keep you posted my appointment is on Wednesday. Take care and have a great week. -
Thx Doamondeyed

Hi Shannon, thank you for your response. Right now I am more in step with you. I really do not feel very comfortable with the Bypass surgery for the same reasons that you mentioned. I just feel so worn out from all the dieting have done over the past 12 years with no lasting results. I need a new direction, I am just tired of being tired and fat. Your 1st two weeks sounds like it was a little tough but you made it thru and now I know what to expect for myself. I kinda realize the 1st month is about getting on track and following what the doctor tells me. Thanks again and keep me posted on your progress.

Hello to all, I am new to this website and like most of you I have not told family and most of my friends that I am having wls on March 11th. I am now about 9 weeks away and I do not need negative comments made to me. I know most people are well meaning but I have decided to take my health into my own hands and do something that can turn my life around. I know it will not be easy but it will be worth it in the long run. I am so happy to have found this website and looking forward to share our weight loss journey together.

Do you like being overweight?
CA712 replied to Suzannesh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Suannesh, I really appreicated your point of view. It has taken me almost 2 years to make up my mind that I need this surgery. I have tried almost all the diets out there. I lost the weight and regained so many times that I am all worn out. I have had so many well meaning people tell me what I am doing wrong or right and what I should eat or not eat. I have tried Low carbs, High carbs, weight watchers with not real success. With having 150 pounds to drop I am now overwhelmed with my weight. My knees hurt, I have trouble walking, I was put on a cpap machine, I could go on and on. I have decided to move ahead with WLS, I need all the support I can get from the great people on this website for moral support. It not fun being fat and right now I cannot even stand myself any longer. It is such a struggle just getting thru the day. This is a big decision and I am finally happy that I have made it. -

Hi Shannon, I want to congradulate you on your weight loss. I took a look at your pictures and I must say you look great, what a difference. I am having my surgery March 11th and would like to know how you felt the first two weeks after surgery. I am very interested in the sleeve surgery.
